Please keep the comments respectful possums, I’ve had to remove several abhorrent slurs against both Graham Norton and Dame Edna - even one person insisting Dame Edna was dead!!
How dare anyone say a bad word about the Dame! The funniest comedian, no one can compare! No matter what I watch, I'm crying by the end from laughing so hard.
thats terrrible both graham and dame edna , are loved by everyone that i know , they are true entertainers and , there will never be anyone like dame edna , im 50 now and dame edna has brought so much joy to my life , you are the funniest person in my life time , and i love graham norton he is one of a kind .
Never worry about the tasteless bores. You are an international treasure. Watching old shows including the dating game episode during covid has helped. If anyone is horrid I’m a Jewish chicago lawyer to deal with them for you.
No one can ever replace or even come close to the genius of Dame Edna ( Barry Humphries). Will miss you always but thank heavens for all these tremendous memories we can still enjoy.
Barry humpries is a master of his craft. His timing , intuition and biting wit is second to none. Cannot think of anyone that can compare to this genius. Have seen him live many times and he has the audience in the palm of his hand. Heaven help the unsuspecting victims he pulls onstage from the audience. He is ruthless and funny beyond words. A complete joy
Dame Edna (Barry Humphries) was in my opinion, the FUNNIEST Comedian at least in my lifetime, and I"m 62. Any TV appearance made me cry with laughter. I am American and I have DVDs and VHS of her some of the TV shows she did in the UK. She had a talk show here in the US for a while in the 80's. I saw her live many times, as well as her Farewell Tour show. The whole audience was wetting themselves with constant laughter. This man was brilliant, knowledgable, hip, and had such a gift of improvisation. He could come up with a one-liner or invent a story about anything, and it would be hysterical. I'll miss him so much.
I read Barry’s autobiography many years ago, I couldn’t put it down, brilliant read. Also I took a photo of Barry, as Barry not Edna, early 1970s, in a record shop, Sutton’s, in Elizabeth St Melbourne. Barry was in the shop window in a bed lol, advertising something, must get the photo out and check it. I remember walking in, asking him if I could take a pic, wish I could remember the rest of the conversation. One of the Suttons staff was sitting on the end of the bed in the photo. I’ve forgotten her name. I knew her as I worked across the road at Brashs music store in the office. A special photo indeed.
One of the masters of entertainment who made all our lives around the world brighter and better for being so brilliant in his art. His warmth and the characters he brought to life will be missed so very much. R.I.P Barry Humphries Condolences to his family and Australia.
I know to begin with her didn't like dame Edna in Australia. But she came to London and lived here for 40 years. And gave us so much laughter and fun. How we will miss dame Edna everage. 🇬🇧♥️🇦🇺
As I celebrated my Birthday today I was so saddened to hear Barry passed. Thank you for the years of laughter and joy. You will always be included and remembered, and for me on my birthday. Love always 💙
Just the saddest news. Barry Humphries and Dame Edna have been with us for our whole lives. Thank you for a lifetime of laughter. A genius of comedy. You will be so very missed. ❤🇦🇺🦘
R.I.P you wonderfully funny, humble and talented man, thanks for the laughs. Many many laughs. Spit your tea out laughs .. Belly laughs and laughs because you knew you were about too. Barry Humphries - Legend.
Barry Humphries is a national treasure and one of the funniest, cleverest and most brilliant comedians the world will ever see. I’ve had the joy of seeing him and Dame Edna live on several occasions and will always buy a ticket to any show in the future. Just have to make sure I’m not seated in the front rows for fear of Barry making me part of the night’s entertainment! A genius who has spread joy to millions for years.
I am genuinely saddened to hear that Barry has left us a really great comic genius who led an amazing life yet still managed to be a nice and decent human being. We are lucky though that we have a wealth of his finest work on video to enjoy forever. Rest in peace and thanks for the joy your gave me over many years
I first saw Dame Edna before she was a Dame...in about 1967 in Sydney.. I was 12 years old..she dressed like a frumpy house wife back then. Was so embarrassed when my mother caught a gladiola that Edna threw out. My mother sang along waving and "trembling" the glady as instructed!
me too , im searching for more funny interviews , i know there must be more on youtube , but i can't find any , she has been round for years , any suggestions ?
Know one will EVER come close too the impeccable wit Barry Humphries had. His characters are iconic and will live on forever. Thank you Barry for ALL the wonderful memories you created for our enjoyment. You were truly a special one of a kind entertainer. God bless.
I have spent part of the morning watching videos of the late great Dame Edna and this is the funniest. A friend and I deliberately got front row seats when Edna was on Broadway the first time. She came to us in the first act and asked us if we were hungry and given a menu and phone, ordered a meal from Sardi’s. Second act began with us being summoned to a little table stage left. There was our meal. Edna tucked our napkins in and poured the wine while continuing her riff on food, especially aroooogala. I offered her some wine and she said “I’m doing a SHOW, dear!” I have the Polaroid of the three of us. Thank you, Dame Edna, for having me eat pasta and salad on a Broadway stage while hundreds looked on. She was one of a kind. And some people are against drag.
I saw that show. In the second act, as I recall, she was calling family members of people in the audience on that telephone, asking them hilariously embarrassing questions based on information she had gleaned about them in the first act. Lucky you for sharing the stage with Dame Edna!
As a longtime Norwegian fan of all of Barry Humphrie's unique characters (now - in these "extremely politically correct times" - Sir Les is of course my favorite) - I want to thank BH for hours of laughter, hours of reflection, hours of joy and satisfaction. 🥰😍 For us Norwegians, the programs also offer a rare diversion from our normal lives - to try to avoid being eaten by polar bears.
I am a longtime fan of Graham Norton and I adore Dame Edna. The two of them together are simply hilarious. They complement one another beautifully. I wish this clip was much longer, as I could have watched it without end.
This is such a loss and I am so very happy that I lived in the time of fame Edna and such a pure genius and I will miss hiss pure genius so much. We need laughter in our lives and we have lost such a wonderful guy who brought such a lot of joy to people. There will never be another fame Edna
25 yrs ago I struggled a little to understand the genius beyond my grasp (especially the subsidiary characters like Sir Les and Sandy). Then I was blessed to see Barry live in Sydney. OMG ! This man is THE god of satire and comedy. Brilliant, subtle, brutal , biting, caring , opportunistic and disciplined all at the same time. So many progressive issues have gone backwards since his genius first out manoevered our residual prejudices and forced us all to laugh at ourselves. I have sought out his every performance since them to bathe in the intelligence, wit and humanistic love
His wit goes over the heads of the people on the receiving end. Watch Parkinson with Judy Dench, and Sharon Osbourne. Poor Sharon , just didn't understand Dame Edna .
No other guest has ever managed to have Graham in stitches! Rest in eternal LOVE Barry, I imagine youve got God & all the Angels keeling over w/ laughter!
