One thing I love about Elton John is that he has so much respect for music generations that have come after him. There’s so many huge inspiring artists that completely disregard new music, Elton John has no ego about it
Well, if I am not mistaken has commented about the fact that lots of recent artists don't sing live. I think he even added that when people pay good money for a concert they should get live music and not be played some tape. But, I can't blame him for saying that because he is right.
I love Elton but he's really disrespectful to Madonna and Janet Jackson. The irony with Madonna in that he was shaming her for making dance pop music and now Elton makes dance pop.
one of my favorite: a) writers b) comedians c) drama actors d) celebrities e) mental health spokesman f) narrator g) atheism spokesman e) lgbt spokesman . FRY OF ALL TRADES.
ikr? and the couch-setup always makes me watch the whole thing even if I only came to see one guest in the first place? Because everyone can butt in and fun side stories occur!
Agreed. I would say he is the best TV interviewer in the world. The fact that all the guests are on at once makes the show much more entertaining, but the genius glue that holds everything together is Graham Norton.
Isnt that such a compliment from elton john when he says "pink should know this ... the secret to longevity is being able to sing live.." he recognises her as a powerhouse
I live in the States and I dont think I've ever seen more than 2 " stars " on a show at one time . And Graham has 4 or 5 at a time and they are the best shows ever ! Even people I've seen on the shows here who come off just horrible seem funny and charming on his show . I just love this show!
Too right Susan. Meryl Streep called him a genius, in that he can make the most uptight or nervous guest feel relaxed. Having them all on at once takes the heat off, and they can just sit back and enjoy. Like us 😉
@@spongebobsquaretits and he doesn't ask them probing, far too personal questions. He doesn't put them on the spot and try and catch them out so he can have "the exclusive' story" Not like the Americans.
If Paul McCartney tells you can't sing then it's official--you can't sing. I love Stephen Fry. Can I just have more time of him and Elton telling stories? Pink is also delightful here.
Elton is literally like that one great Aunt everyone has and only see at Christmas. (Inappropriately kisses you on the lips whether you like it or not. But is also fabulous. )
I love how Graham can get guests so relaxed, even if it seems like an odd mix of guests, it all works beautifully. This felt like a party and they were all getting to know each other. Well done!
He, or his staff, does some background work, they like to find some things the guests have in common, then he gets those stories leading into others. It works very well.
Elton John has been one of my very favorite people since i was a young boy. I dont think that will ever change. What a wonderful man and incredible talent. 50 more years wouldnt be enough.
Brian Yule. Well, I have to say, P!nk seems to know how to share the limelight with other stars, respecting them while holding her own, all the while seeming to enjoy herself and the whole show. For someone from the USA with her success and in an all English company, that is not bad at all❣️ That is not always a given response for all USA stars in such company on the Graham Norton Show👌🏽💛
@@esterzach I agree. Intelligent or not, she's just a downright good woman and yes, surrounded by Englisher's who can be very overwhelming to those of use less well versed in (actual) English mannerisms, she handled her situation with aplomb. On top of that, Steven Fry to me is a gentleman who has infinate patience for people who respect's life in all its colours and is not afraid to piss on someone's parade when he feels their commentry's out of sorts. Ego, buffonary and all that. I felt he was almost fatherly to the two ladies tonight and Carey started out the show almost like a 'blonde ditz' (even admitted as much), but pulled herself togethor which, when you're young and trying to get ahead but need a solid grounding and not sell out (to drugs, glamour, sex etc) helps MASSIVELY, especially when you're surrounded by caring 'burnt out old sods' of the old guard like EJ and Fry.
The whole thing he said about his book just intrigued me! I'm glad I found out about this, mythology should be brought up more. "Mythos" by Stephen Fry definitely giving it ago! :)
Clearly every celebrity who comes on this show is very comfortable with themselves. Everyone always looks like they are having such a good time. Graham has the ability to bring out the very best in already funny and talented people.
That was quite entertaining!!! Enjoyed every person. Graham has such a way of including everyone into everyone's conversation. And a little trivia for Robbi, Emma Thompson was on the couch when Robbi first told the story of the birth of his child where he said " it was like watching your fav Pub burn down. Emma used Robbi's line in her movie where she played a OBGYN to Bridgette Jones Baby. Well done Graham!!!
Graham & his staff certainly do their homework on these stars. They seem shocked everytime they're questioned about their past, or certain events. What a show👏🎉
I don't watch TV and have only seen excerpts of interviews before of Graham Norton. It's so great to watch a whole show for the first time .. Graham has a unique ability to make his guests feel relaxed. Terrific guests here - Fry is always good (loved his analogy of the internet with Pandora's box); Elton, Pink and Carey (and Robbie) good entertainment value. So glad I've watched this.
@@wizebeard if I could go back in time for just one party then it'd have to Elton and David's bucks nights. Neil Tennant (my favourite person) organised Elton's and Sir Ian did David's...they only kept them separate for about an hour until coming together in what was apparently one hell of a party. If you are a fan of Sir Ian then you'd likely already know this but for others, both Neil and Sir Ian have famously elegant public personas where many don't realise that both are actually wickedly hilarious with truly filthy senses of humour...hence Elton and David specifically choosing them.
Gawd I love you Graham!! I am canadian and just recently found your show ..I have had the BEST time watching you .. I never laughed out loud in so long until I started watching your show!
Never seen Sir Elton that humble and also funny! Stephen Fry is of course an epic star. What a nice couch - thanks for the upload! As an afterthought, Graham Nortons shows are still to this date far too short!! His guests that sit on that couch deserve far more time!
It's really interesting what Stephen is saying about Pandora's box being similar to the internet because I remember that short span of a few years that we did all believe things were going to be fixed in the world with the discovery of the internet. Such a great communication tool, we could reach outside the little box of information we were being fed to get the bigger picture and we could work collectively for a better future. I look back and realize how naive we were and I have learned the lesson: any medium that information is delivered to you can and will be manipulated in time, either by governments, corporations, special interests, etc. And since then I have become far more skeptical of things that come along and promise to "change" things. Sooner or later it will be corrupted.
bvansenu Yes. I remember my late grandad was absolutely fascinated by the notion of the internet. When we visited him as children he would talk about it after hearing things on the tv news. Later when we eventually got our first home computer he was amazed that you could just type whatever you wanted in and it would bring you a whole world of information up (after sitting and waiting what felt like an age for the web page to load-because dial up). Wonder what he would make of it all now.
I'm not skeptical of change, i just learned that there are no magical fixes. There's no magical button to press and no amazing invention that will come along and solve all our problems. Everything has drawbacks and everything can and will eventually be exploited. That doesn't mean that we should stop trying to improve, it just means that we have to be realistic about how we're actually going to go about doing it, and make sure that we don't get caught up in other bullshit along the way or set our expectations too high.
For anyone that's interested, the snakes that Carey is talking about were cottonmouths/water moccasins. They can be aggressive but more so territorial.
It’s funny that almost every celebrity that is talkee, Elton has some kind of relation with. Best friends with Eminem, sang a duet with Mary J Blige, besties with Victoria Beckham
dayum son. U went from one dope musician's dead body to a goddamn nazi regiment with just one letter dere. I'm noting this down. So should you. let's make some money off of this!! @ekim anderson
Elton was such a cutie in his pictures from the 70's. Ahhww. He really overcame a lot and he is amazing and that quick montage was too! The movie Rocketman renewed my love for his music. Taron Egerton did an awesome job in bringing a fantasy version of Elton's biography to the screen. Also, I love how talented, down-to-earth, charming and funny Pink is. I adore her!!
