'Not one acre more.' That was the catch cry of Dame Whina Cooper as she embarked on a simple protest that grew into one of the most defining events in our nation's history. This Sunday marks the 40th anniversary of the 1975 land march. Dame Whina led the march from Te Hapua to Wellington with a petition to end the alienation of Māori land. The milestone comes the very week Dame Whina's iwi Te Rarawa finally settled its treaty claim.
