And yet love Maori culture. Moreover, Maori students like my grandmother who could not speak English were subjected to corporal punishment if they spoke in te reo Maori. Thus, the English language was forced upon them. Now, our politicians who should lead by example have a problem with it? Well, if he is so offended by te reo Maori, then don't speak it at all. Fullstop. Mute your TV when the All Blacks perform the Haka, since it is performed in te reo Maori. @@adriandocherty778 my wife deals with a large number of govt agencies on a daily basis. Almost all of them have dropped their English names on majority of their correspondence. This makes it awfully difficult when dealing with time sensitive requests and the majority of people dealing with those requests are from a foreign background, the cycle of lost time and confusion costs the taxpayer large sums every day. I believe it’s great to use both languages, but you can’t expect your large foreign force to learn a language the majority does not speak.

I need you to realise that the reason why the roads have been battered so badly is because of the tongan eruption and a huge excess of water damage going into the roads. What we need is massive government spending to actually fix them permanently, otherwise they're simply going to get fixed and broken again. It wouldn't have mattered at all which government got put in because there are only so many road workers and such. It's the same thing here in Gisborne, roads get fixed to get broken again. They're too busy fixing major damage to fix the minor stuff, as well as the storm drains all leaking and ruining roads from below (council owned water pipes, what a joke). The roads will be fixed and we will get back on track eventually.
