That last Megatron head sculpt felt to me like the TF Animated version from the first chapter, before dear old Megs got bombed to Earth. And that Kreo body is so many levels of wrong for that head!!!
If only the Construct-Bots were compatible with Bionicle and Technic, then they could've at least had some value due to the head sculpts and other more custom pieces being usable for your own creations, but they couldn't even get that right.
And when I called to order a replacement part when one of the c-clips broke, I wasn’t able to without exchanging the entire set. The later sets got rid of 5mm ports altogether in favor of those c-clips
I’ve found that kreo brick bot heads can fit onto the construct bot balljoints, albeit somewhat loosely in the case of the one I tried it with (the head from Kreo’s tank Megatron) so maybe you can find something compatible to stick the construct bot heads on
Remember when Kre-O went hard on the mini figs because they seemed to be the only ones that really sold. Had more than a few, including the weird combiners. To be fair Kre-O was a dramatic upgrade from Built to Rule with their ragdoll proportions.

Machine Robo is a Japanese toy line made by Bandai, released in 1982. In 1983, Tonka made a deal with Bandai to reuse the molds from Machine Robo as a new line, the Gobots. Most of the Gobots are renamed Machine Robo toys, though Rock Lords are something Tonka created.
While that's true, that figure of Night Ranger Thew received is still a knockoff. The bootleggers were just able to use the original Japanese name somehow. Machine Robo was officially released by Bandai in European countries as Robo Machine.

16:12 I had some construct bots as a kid and I hated them. They were impossible to play with but they had cool plastic boxes with the factions logos on it . those boxes were the only thing I kept from them the actual toys I threw away .

15:30 I slightly agree on what you mean about combiners, I love the individuals as much as the combiner but I only ever display teams as combiners because it saves space
A friend gave me the Kreo Starscream for my birthday years ago. I'm pretty sure I built it up in jet form and never built the robot form. The jet looks alright, it's still sitting on top of a book case I think, but the robot did not look great. It came with a cool Starscream minifig though!

I was 13 when the construct-bots came out and I loved them. They definitely didnt age that well but I still have the Silverbolt and Smokescreen figures. They were by far my favorites
16:07 hey I love construct bot there like if Transformers x bionicle and yeah they did do to well but I my opinion they were great especially if you bought the the entire series plus some double you can create something way better than Hasbor can ever think of or use them for spare parts like for customization or background stuff
Kreo has definitely not aged well. Bot modes were abysmal though the alt modes were pretty fun. Still have a bin of all of them in vehicle mode stored somewhere. The large scale Prime, and Magatron were probably the best designed while most of the others looked like some of the earliest Lego sets. Really looing forward to Lego's official rendition of a transforming Bumblebee later in the year.
I have a friend with a Construct Bots Starscream that she really likes. I thought the Megatron looked kind of neat (though the guy who's pics I saw of it I think gave it a cape). I'm tempted to check out Bumblebee because they made him a triple-changer, but I don't think it's a huge concern. They are sketchy (if less of a nightmare than Kreo).
I had the constructbot starscream as a kid. I did like it and wanted more but my middle-of-nowhere retailer stopped stocking them immediately when I was pretty much the only person who bought one,
You can knock Kreo Transformers all you want but they're still a thousand times better than the old Built to Rule line from the Armada days. The Hot Shot toy alone deserves an entire video just on how funny it looks.
Kreo are really fun if you toss the instructions for bot mode. You also have to be good at building with limited pieces, but I still enjoy them. Bought a ton of them on clearance and if you take 2 sets per character they can be pretty solid.
I immediately looked up Dendura and listened to a bunch of their shit. I am glad to say you have successfully gotten me into them, and that they are actually my shit. Thanks Thew! PS - The jellyfish shirt goes INSANE

16:40 I had that Megatron years ago and I am *positive* I never built him into the bot mode. I got him to have a decent sized rep of that DotM truck mode and that was it.
It's kind of weird it seems the only toy ever made of GB Blackwock was in Kreao, right? I mean, that there's only an unofficial lego thing of Circuit Breaker is more understandable, but Blackrock was a pretty big part of the G1 comic! At some point, I hope there's an official like GI Joe-style pack or something of Blackrock, Circuit Breaker, Buster, Spike… Maybe even some deeper cuts like Bomber Bill, Robot-Master, Joey Slick, The Mechanic, the rest of the Neo-Knights… Like a box set of "Humans iof G1" or a series would be great! Oh well, one can dream…

I follow a bunch of vtubers at this point and one of them had the epiphany that, aside from the whole "anonymousness protects the identity of women and trans folks in an increasingly hostile internet" thing, that having a "mask" on, in this case a vtuber avatar, allows them to be much more true to themselves than they otherwise would be with their normal face on camera. this was from someone who has been on camera in person, and alternates between real cam and vtuber avatar, and it is immediately apparent how much more...reigned in they are, when not behind the anime face. like on camera they're a relatively normal, dorky person, while behind the avatar, they're a ridiculous, unabashed, thirsty goblin of a person(it's Bao. I'm talking about Bao.) also, a vtuber avatar is always ~beautiful~ and ready to go, so you can just roll out of bed, turn the tracking on, and go, without having to pretty up or anything first. and it's an easily marketable character. there's a lot of benefits to it.

Too rare to open; shows transformers I had as a kid. The submarine one was actually my first transformer. Got those guys because they were cheaper than 'real' transformers. Nice nostalgia dive there mate!
Kre-O had potential (way more than "Built To Rule"). I liked their take on the mini-figures. Unfortunately, by the time they figured themselves out and put out some better sets, they had already burned up whatever interest and goodwill the market had for them.
"Why does this exist?!" Because Hasbro REALLY wanted to get in on the Lego craze, but didn't want to license their original properties, and share the profits. They were determined to make their OWN knock-off Legos. A decade before Kreo they tried Built to Rule, Uuuuggh,

Look... I design Lego stuff for fun (unless commissioned)... I have tons of the stuff for when I need to find piece... and I STILL got rid of all my KREO TF's... they just weren't good. :P
