The problem with the story is that it is not Blair.She never stopped being an elitist.

That ain't Blair, she loves status, fame, power , wealth and the world she lives in which isn't what Dan gave her. Even her style was a mess when they dated, I love their friendship so much. Edit: it's confirmed she settled down in Paris, her dreamcity

Even her fashion, make up and overall appearance took a turn to the worse until she broke things off with him and started wearing headbands again. This was probably done intentionally by the writers. Blair was someone introduced to us deeply hurt by her friends actions of sleeping with her boyfriend, claiming she would never do something like that. Yet years later out of nowhere, without any build up, she does exactly that despite one episode before praying for Chuck's life, losing her Child. She gets into a relationship with him despite Dan not offering her anything she always loved. Unlike Serena she never wanted out of this world. It was her world. She loved power, status, fame, wealth, the publicity and the society. For her settling with a man who gives her that is very in character and as the show went further - sadly rushed - she developed into a successful designer over the years. Rather than adding this 5 episode relationship where by no means, I saw a progress or any hinted character development, if anything it showed for me how it wasn't for her and that's not Blair. She kept writing about another man in her diary, insulting everything about Brooklyn and Dan himself. How is that progress? She used him whilst she was vulnerable because she needed a friend. If we go by Gorgina'a words Dan manipulated her into it whilst she was mentally and emotionally hurting.

SERENA E DAN SEMPRE foram um para o outro, E BLAIR E CHUCK foram um para o outro, muitos falam que blair e dan davam certo, por cauda que dan valorizava ela , mas isso era do dan, um cara romântico, que blair não quis, ela deixou claro que merecia o churck. Pessoas como blair, não fica com um dan, principalmente na vida real, não duraria uma semana na mesma casa, é impossível, vocês sabem disso , que casais que não se batem em nada, mesmo com amor não vai pra frente, magina dan e blair ....

You're mine - 4x20). Her being 'in love' w ch*ck still was a writers decision (plus ch*ir fans were sending death threats to the writers to get their desired endgame). With ch*ck she was reduced to a weak, snivelling wreck (Blair: What I want is to be a powerful woman. But whenever Chuck’s around I just feel like a weak little girl. - 4x7). While with dan she is finally an equal in the relationship and doesn't fade into the background ( Blair: Dan is my best friend and when we're together it's great. I feel strong and safe. - 5x24). I'm not saying dan was perfect even b4 cheating on her (which serena manipulated him into doing but still is his fault as he decided to trust S b4 even consulting his own gf) but he was by far the best love interest blair had in terms of how he treated her b4 + during their short-lived relationship.

Let's not forget that every character on that show is emotionally abusive and were violent at some point especially Blair. She even slapped Dan. I always thought Louis was good or the best optiom for her until Blair ruined him. In my eyes her marrying someone like Chuck was fitting for her character as a whole. He was/had everything she wanted and desired: wealth, power, status, fame. Nothing that Dan could give her and in the end she became a strong powerful businesswoman whilst living paris, living her dream and Dan ended up as a terrible writer according to the reboot. She wasn't like Serena who wanted out of her world and Dan seemed more like an old money affair but I wanted her on her own, sailing away with Serena. You wrote quite a long response, a little hard to read as much as I adore the friendship, I don't see parts of what some of you interpret into them, my apologies 🥲

The problem was the lack of romantic build up and writing, we literally see Blair running off with Chuck then getting into an accident due to Trip and Dan's involvement which resulted in Blair losing her child and praying to god to keep Chuck save. Suddenly due the show being on the edge of being cancelled she gets with Dan and dates him for 5 eps. It wasn't a good build up tbvh.

Leighton also loves Chair and rooted for them to be endgame there are various interviews, she is just friends with Penn haha. I wouldn't take it seriously, she doesn't like the show and dislikes being reduced to it or asked.

I think it’s a selective bias rather than an age thing. I watched the show when I was fifteen and rewatched just recently almost ten years later at twenty four. I still prefer Chuck and Blair. But now for thematic reasons, since Chuck and Blair were twin flames, and you don’t see it presented as well in television.

This is interesting because I rewatched and despite being an adult, I didn't see it. It made no sense writing wise and for Blair's character. She just lost her Baby and suddenly she was with Dan? I didn't see where he was there for her or feel any romantic chemistry, just intellectual which made them better friends than lovers but it's interesting to see different opinions. That'd said I don't think they would've ever been endgame for that they didn't last long and the writers never had any intentions.

dan was simping for her all the time and blair was friendzoning him in return, then they hooked up and showed complex and stable relationship so writers went full on damage control mode because the tv show was meant for teenagers, and teenagers like immature relationships, so chuck and blair was the way to go besides they were close from the beggining

Sorry to break your heart but non of that was the case Chuck and Blair was the writers and showrunners endgame since S1 (they love them together). They always talked about these 2 would be final just that a show needs drama. They just didn't have much ideas left by S5, tried to explore a new random dynamic till the final will they won't they ending that's why these 2 here dated. In my world, Blair finally got fed up and accepted the fact that chuck and her were never going to happen. Blair might’ve been heartbroken, but Dan would be there for her no matter what. Lets be real, if the writers didn’t force it Dan and Serena would’ve never happened, so Dan would go comfort Blair. Eventually they accept their feelings for eachother, and give their relationship a PROPER chance with no more obstacles. And in the end, Dan and Blair would have ended up together. PLUS RUFUS AND LILY. Come on it was just REPULSIVE to see her back with William at the end. Just so that Dan and Serena could be together. It was a sloppy ending imo

Their sneaking around as non-friends, to rivals at work, to being friends in public, to Blair leaning on Dan for life altering decisions, to Dan being there for Blair no matter what it was, to Dan finding the courage to let Blair know what would make him happy, to Blair admitting she had feelings for Dan, to Blair letting Dan know he had her heart. That was all magical. We just didn't get as much as we could have out of it.
