Refs heads need to roll. I’m 40 and have never seen a flag thrown 16 seconds after a play was dead. Also 68 reported. It’s clear in 4k.

What I'm trying to figure out is that the video clearly shows Decker going to the ref. If he didn't report as eligible then what the heck did he go to the ref for in the first place? And if he did report then did the official ignore him? This is extremely strange.

The refs said 70 reported, but 70 clearly didn't get there in time to report. 68 was clearly there talking to the ref. This is clearly on the ref. I'm tired of hearing people blaming the player or Dan Campbell, and I am a Bears fan. This was a ridiculously BAD call.

Usually coaches are nervous when they lose in the press boxes but it's the opposite here. Dan Campbell is a grown man

The NFL has come out and clarified the situation. Apparently when Decker went up to the ref before the play - he wasn't reporting in as "eligible" - he was just asking the ref what the ref "got for Christmas."

He didn't say that 70 reported, the refs, said 70 reported.

Imagine being on CBS, your job is to analyze the NFL, you see a man report to a referee and your take is: "it doesn't matter that you reported before, you have to do it at the time of the play"... 68 did report at the time of the play, they also did it before the game, guy on the left is so bad at his job. There is no excuse for the NFL this time. Fix your refs.

In the video it looked like Decker reported to the ref. Detroit got scammed by a bad ref. It wasn't the players fault. The ref should get fired. The Lions really won that game. Dallas got a freebee from the ref!

Im not a fan of either team, but I will tell like it is. This has to be the most fucked up call I have ever seen in the NFL. Ref even seemed to allow them to even celebrate the victory for a good minute before throwing that flag. I was blown by how late it was. Mind boggling shit.

Nobody is talking about the Dallas kicker 34 for 34 field goals and said a 70 yard fg is not out of reach for him. That influenced Campbell going for it

2 players can't report only 1. All NFL teams need to know this rule so a game this high caliber won't be affected on the outcome.

He went for 2, 3 times. 1st for the win. The other 2 was to prove bs.

To all of you: what does it matter if they go for a field goal after the first try? then we go into overtime and we may still lose because you cannot beat the referees.

This is on all refs. It's a lack of accountability of all refs in all sports. With sports betting legal, the refs need to be held accountable. The ref in this game should be suspended without pay until an investigation is completed into whether or not the ref was influenced to make that bad call from a 3rd party.

But was Dan Campbell mad when the refs called tripping on Peyton Hendershot, when it was actually 87 of Detroit who tries to trip Pollard? This would have given Dallas a first down insode the Red Zone, effectively ending the game.

I'm not a fan of either team and they both had chances to win. But, regarding the call, everyone is making the false assumption that had Dallas been TOLD Decker reported, which they would have IF Bard Allen had gotten it right, they wouldn’t have covered him as an eligible receiver and he would have been open to make the conversion. His reporting would have obviously changed the defense’s focus on him. The only reason Decker was wide open on the play is because, according to what the ref told them, the defensive players ignored Decker because he COULDN’T be an eligible receiver. Then Detroit had two more attempts at the conversion that failed. But bravo to Campbell for doing it! Players love that confidence from a coach!

Coach Campbell did NOT say that “70 had reported”; he was referring to what he was told by Brad Allen or answering some reporter!

Question. For all the years I've been a fan, I don't know if two ineligible numbers can report as eligible on the same play. If they DID, is that even legal?

Quit blaming the players. The ref nodded at Decker, how much more confirmation should he be responsible for getting? Are players going to have to get a confirmation in writing from the refs after every substitution? They'll call it the Taylor Decker Rule. More importantly was this an honest mistake or something else?

All I remember was repeatedly saying "kick the extra point... " IMO Tie the game,.... going for two is risky, and only puts you up by 1.... With time on the clock for Dallas to be in desperation mode and possibly still win with a field goal.... If you fail the two point conversion.... Its over. If you kick to tie the game.... Dallas has :23 seconds to get yardage to be in field goal range, but they'd be less likely to make risky big play calls that could backfire when they could go into overtime. I felt like the Lions would've had momentum going into overtime, but it's not like Dallas wasn't moving the ball.

I.E., this is a big deal. Simply put, the refs screwed us. The Lions won this game and they stole it from us.

Skipper said he never reported as eligible for that play. The ref screwed up and cost the Lions the game. I wish we had an audio recording of Decker reporting. MCDC should have gone off on that ref and taken the fine!!!!!!

Campbell tried getting cute, he tried tricking the Cowboys by having 3 different players lingering near the ref when one of them reports being eligible. The ref got confused instead. The act alone is super dense, because it can confuse the ref, clearly, and because that ref is going to tell Dallas who is elligible. All there is to it. When the Lions heard him announce to Dallas the wrong number, they could have corrected him. But I think they were all in on the trying to trick them thing. That's my read. They even admitted that they had hoped to confuse Dallas. That's not how that rule is supposed to work though.

Dan Campbell should have kicked the extra point. His mistake. Backed up to the 7 yard line, still goes for the 2 point conversion. Big mistake. Decker should have got the ref's attention and reported as eligible. He did not. His mistake. Two mistakes by the Lions. Game lost. It is what it is. Learn from the mistakes for next time. Don't be overly aggressive with the game management. Properly report to the refs.
