Wow, as a non - tattooer, I never knew that tattoo machines were made by hand, in someone's studios. This is awesome. I always assume that like most items in today's capitalist society (no matter how nich the market) that machines where made in a factory in China or somewhere maybe in the midwest if made in America, with an assamblyline. Very cool. Shows how punk rock the tattoo industry is. Thanks for this Wayne.
Well there are a lot of good quality factory made machines today and most tattoo artists will go this route. Though his specifically are made by hand and sells for around $1,000 dollars on his store most of the time. However they were all originally made by hand before the early nineties I believe but when they came out with the factory ones then they were cheap and not well manufactured.
Yes. When I apprenticed there was MAYBE 3 companies selling irons/tattoo machines. National Tattoo, Spaulding and Rogers, Pacific, and Peter Tattoo were the first to pioneer mass production in the 70’s and 80’s. Some artists like Mickie Sharpz have been making and selling machines since the 90’s. For decades you had to know how to build a tattoo machine, needles and ink all BEFORE you were taught how to actually tattoo. You had to be a craftsman first, artist second. You had to apprentice just to learn all the secrets from so many aspects of art, electronics, soldering, milling, engraving, etc etc. Things are much different now. Now there’s enough tattooists out there that Dan can make his living making machines only. Now Amazon is selling cartridges and pens.🤦🏻♂️ Some tattooists made their names as greatest ink makers. Some made their name drawing flash (tattoo designs drawn by guys like Huck Spaulding, JD Crow, Eddie Lee, etc.) Dan is a well-known traditional artist and either loved or hated (pretty standard in this industry 🤣🤷🏻♂️.) Remember, if you ain’t got haters you ain’t living right. Edit: there was once a time, before the internet happened, where we made sure ONLY other artists in the tattoo industry made money off of artists. We worked hard for decades to keep corporate cronyism out of our industry. That time has sadly ended. Now corporate shareholders are capitalizing on artists. This is why some of us will happily pay Dan Kubin $1k for his machines instead of AMAZON for $200. F%*+ Amazon
Message of this vid... NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS AND WORK YOUR ASS OFF, SACRIFICE ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO, AND DONT DONT DONT LISTEN TO ANYONES DOUBT! Good for you DAN AND GOOD ON YA WAYNE! Regards, Tommy Gunn, Kadillac Tattoo PA
when u by one of these machines ur supporting an american innovator and tattooer i cant give this man more praise.....his machines arent like the mass produced souless equipment coming from over seas he has made in my opinion the best line of solid machines out and their made here in America
Yup. That was standard practice in our industry before the internet happened. We worked hard to keep it in the family, and keep corporate shareholders out That’s one of the reasons serving an apprenticeship is important. A self-taught bedroom artist may be dope af…but still know very little about the industry in which they work. Soulless artists out for the clout and instant gratification so they can get that bag, regardless of who else gets rich in the process. Edit:A man with no principles is no man at all. (Some person smarter than me said that, Im sure.”

Paris Manson I’ve had the impossible a ton of times. We have Monty’s burger in my hometown it’s basically a vegan in n out and it exclusively sells the impossible it’s rad. I haven’t tried the burger king one because I know it’s not gonna be great and they cross contamination issues and I have to order it without mayo and cheese. I’m glad they have it and I’m glad it’s gaining popularity but I’m not in any rush to try there rendition of it.
