Dan Patrick reacts to all the hype surrounding incoming Duke freshman Cooper Flagg after his standout performance yesterday in a scrimmage against the men's Olympic basketball team
I lived right around the corner from Cooper Flagg in Newport, I am rooting for him. It’s crazy that I used to see him playing ball outside with his brother and them going running together.
Cooper Flagg didn’t go to IMG and he’s not 6’11”. He’s listed as 6’9” and he went to Monteverde. How hard is it to know that when you have a staff working for you?
Cooper at 17 absolutely cooked Jrue Holiday in the Basketball USA. Jrue is one of the best defenders in the NBA. I hope the Brooklyn Nets gets to select Cooper as the first pick in the 2025 NBA draft
@@solidsnake6405Take a look at the Nets roster and they're not done trading away players yet. They'll easily lose 50+ games. After everything the Nets and their fans have been through, they deserve a top-2 pick. I say top-2 because word on the street is that Ace Bailey > Cooper Flagg, but I'd be happy with either one.
@@louelastic954 y'all did that to yourself for Kg&PP and then again for KD/KI/JH I don't wanna hear bout how bad it's been for ya!! At least the fanbase has had a decent amount of hope the past 20 years. Since 1998 the Bulls have had two quick flare ups that were cut down quickly at the knees.
Being from Maine, im automatically a big fan of his. This is pretty cool, we hardly ever have anyone make it to the NBA from here, let alone be this good.
The 1994 team was very close to the 1992 team. 1996 had a handful of the same players in 1992. Those guys still understood how to play an all around game. Today is a positionless game where big men are not as skilled inside. Teams back then would destroy these teams just by pounding it inside. Defense is not played nearly to the level it was back then and the physical play of the 80s and 90s is not matched by today’s players. Different era with different philosophy.
Dan Patrick has been a sports media institution now for decades that being said there’s other things that come with that and it can make you kind of big time. He didn’t seem to be especially interested in Cooper Flagg in college which all of us big college basketball fans are super excited about next year and a big part of it is this guy Dances to big time he’s out of touch it’s cool the guy still probably radio goat❤
We've had some great players in Maine, but they usually get lost in the shuffle when they go to college. TJ Cowette comes to mind, he went to Villanova and they pretty much iced him out, wouldn't pass him the ball. He was a great talent, like Cooper.
I don’t really get why people are saying this is the best Olympic team we’ve had when our stars are at the end of their careers. The 2008 and 12 team are still my top 2
Saw him play twice as a 15 year old sophomore against two of the top teams in the country. He was the best player and he was a 15 year old 10th grader. Crazy.
Uh like Wemby dont exist. Teams have been scouting Wemby since he was 16 years old and if Wemby could declare for the NBA draft at 16 no doubt in my mind he would of went number 1.
The draft take is all wrong. What the NbA is missing out on is the brand building that used to happen in college. What’s happening now is just ending up with lots of nameless faceless players.
@@james45478 He is said to be a "growing 6'9" with a wingspan over 7'." I was impressed with his elevation coupled with impeccable shot blocking timing. I think Larry Bird was the greatest, but he did not have the athleticism to block shots like this kid. At 17, he is already as good a shot blocker as Wembanyama and Holmgren.
Let’s not overreact to cooper Flagg having a good day in these scrimmages. This may be less of how great he is and more of an indictment on the NBA players and their effort levels in these games. They won this game by 1 point. We all know no one on that USA team was trying to stop him.
Isn’t Cooper too young to have qualified for the 2024 NBA draft. He is only 17 and graduated from high school a year early. So he, and all of the members of his ‘original’ high school class, can’t be drafted until 2025. He essentially graduated early to spend a year at Duke.
Lakers need to just Tank this season 2024-2025, we aint winning the finals, tanking for Cooper Flag first draft pick for 2025 draft lol Let the tank games begin!
It's not so much that he's white, because we've got Luka, Jokic, etc. It's that he's white AND American. We haven't seen a white American prospect like this since Christian Laettner. And the fact that Flagg also is on the Olympic team like Laettner was with the Dream Team in '92, is the cherry on top. Teams will be tanking next year to try to get this guy...
Lakers Should make history....Be the first Father Son duo to be traded for the number one pick by the Lakers...... Lakers want Flagg over the James'. Fans dont care if we have Lebron or Bronny. We dont owe them,
Dan, Dan, what are you smoking? This is the greatest Olympic team ever? They have guys who finished FOURTH in the World Cup and were pushed around by European players but you are looking at an athletic Larry Bird and good thing for the future because this Olympic team is in danger of flopping might win one game in a best-of-seven against the Dream Team. Who on the Dream Team would you replace with anyone from this team?
