Cooper Flagg is only 16 years old but people are already saying he’s the projected number 1 pick in the NBA draft. We have seen this kind of hype before but is this time legit?

@@will-zj5gq Agreed. Plus you never hear fundamentals spoken about anymore with young prospects. I watched some clips of that big white kid and wow his footwork is not good. He's only 16 so it can obviously improve but people need to stop with the "high basketball IQ" crap. All through this comment section I see mentions of basketball IQ. I was lucky enough to see Cooper Flagg play in a Maine tournament in against my stepson a couple years ago, during Covid when they played summer league at the park I grew up balling in, and the entire 4 acre park was packed, you couldn't get anywhere near the court, and he was in 8th grade at the time. It will be great to have an NBA prospect from the state of Maine finally, as the last one was in the 60s or 70s... Although, Back when I was 16 and playing ball, we had another top high school prospect, TJ Couette, who was playing out of his mind dropping 50 a game, and played very similar to Cooper. In summer league, I could just throw it over my head anywhere near the basket and TJ would grab it and dunk it. Then he went to Villanova where he averaged 2 mins a game and was never heard from again. Hopefully Cooper has a much better runway to the NBA.

im 4 months older than cooper flagg and i can ensure you that regular highschool is enough pressure already, nonetheless having to deal with nba media grooming you to become a superstar. me personally i would stay away from social media to lower the mental toll and use the time to improve grades and work on skills. it sounds better to be popular in highschool but in the end it can make fake friends and alter your entire life if you dont monitor everything you do incredibly closely under a spotlight. its just easier to stay out of it in my opinion

Well, just because someone is a grown man doesn't mean he's ever played basketball. LOL. LaMelo is much better than I thought he would be, however. In 2000 my 6'9" seventeen year old son was playing with a Nike AAU team from Charlotte. My son was All-State etc. that year but he is not the subject here. He already had his future planned and it did not include 🏀. Now, as a fifteen year old Rashad McCants was playing on this seventeen year old AAU team. Rashad was a man/child at fifteen with a natural instinct to put the ball and anyone that was in his way in the basket at the same time. There was a tournament in Louisville, KY that required every Nike team nationwide to be there. Everybody that was anybody was at that tournament. They gave no individual awards to players but if they had, Rashad would certainly have been in the top three running for MVP while playing up two full years. There were also brief glimpses of the Rashad that eventually became very visible at UNC, then the train wreck that was his NBA career. It's just tough predicting the adult that a fifteen-year old will become.👌

The biggest reason why Emoni Bates likely failed is his dad was his hs coach and he didn’t develop any from sophomore year to senior year. The warning signs were there when he played in aau tournaments his senior year and coaches had defenders sag off him. He coasted off his athleticism instead of trying to develop a consistent jump shot. That’s why wing players can be so hard to predict in the nba. It is so easy for them to dominate in high school or college without being able to shoot but then in the nba they get exposed.

I would not call Jabari Parker a bust. To me, if your career is shortened or altered by injury, and that is why you don't fulfill your potential, you are not a bust. That is out of a player's control. A bust is when they just simply don't perform and live up to the expectations
@bcamplite621
@bcamplite621 9 месяцев назад
That's not the generally accepted definition. The likes of Sam Bowie, Greg Oden, Michael Olowokandi are considered all time busts due to injury.

I’m not a Labron hater, have a lot of respect for what he has done over the length of his career. Taking teams with little talent to the finals, never getting in any trouble with the law, but there is something off about how he sees himself or talks about himself. Forget about the we gonna win 5,6,7, championships, or the time in the tunnel before going out on the court for his first game back in Cleveland, he said something like this is one of the biggest games of all time. Now I have to see him at an AAU game wearing a shirt with his picture on it from the Sports Illustrated cover “The Chosen One”. I’m sorry just a little too full of himself.

Issue with Emoni’s game in high school was he was one dimensional. What makes AJ, Boozer, and Cooper really good compared to Emoni is their impact to the game other than scoring

There are more players there who made more than 30 million a year, cannot call them busts. I am actually amazed how the recruitment has become so good.

The greatest irony on a video like this is the fact that A.M. Hoops claims that the only "legit star" (highlighted in green) ranked top 3 out of HS in the last 10 years is Anthony Edwards - a guy who hasn't made an all star game, all-nba team or achieved anything of note (yet). He then suggests that the two latest drafts "were decent" despite the fact that they haven't played long enough to make an evaluation. In fact, the most accomplished player on that list - by a wide margin..... Is Ben Simmons - 3 time all star, 3 time all-nba. And of course, Andrew Wiggins, Brandon Ingram, Michael Porter Jr and Julius Randal are all very good players in their own right.

This video isn’t saying why Cooper Flagg won’t stand a chance, it’s saying what their player comps are and how talented they are. This is just showing us how good kids are getting at the game and how they will change the way the game is played. And, they’re not comparing AJ to Paul George because of how effective he will be in the NBA if they put him in the league right now at 16, but how their games are so similar.
