I have the same Dan Wesson A2. Mine is the Nr. 2000088. Out of the box a very accurate gun with a great trigger timing. I shoot it without any modifications in matches with awesome results. I love this gun.
I recently purchased one with a 2021 serial number, but I think it was manufactured in December 2020. DW tends to do this with pistol serial numbers. The trigger is on par with $2K 1911s. I love the fit and finish. Definitely hard to find. I had to pay up a little bit for it since these are so hard to find. Totally worth it.
Dan Wesson got my attention when I got to feel a few premium 1911 models. What surprised me was that their 1911 models felt better than the S&W Performance Center 1911 models. They didn't cost much more than a S&W Performance Center 1911. Didn't the USMC get a 1911 variant called the M45A1 CQB pistol? It was a 1911, but had a tac rail and FDE cerakote. I'm wondering if the price is used to attract people who never had a Dan Wesson. This might be their first, but it won't be their last.
I picked up a Heritage a couple days ago locally. That’s another discontinued model you don’t see many of. I think people tend to hang onto DW’s after buying and shooting them lol. I’ll never sell any of mine.
Great review! Good thing these are not available anywhere anymore, my bank account says thanks. I wonder why DW discontinued this fine firearm? Oh well, guess I'll have to be happy with my Tisas for now.
Thanks Rene. I’m not sure why DW discontinued them, though DW has many other great offerings that will make your bank account cry. Tisas are a great value and the one I tested was a shooter, check out my review on it. Take care Rene and welcome to the channel.
Roy Clements my next video is on a 1911 by Tisas..No Dan Wesson by any means, but low cost and one I shot was great value in terms of performance and reliability.
@@greatBLT I’m sure the company has its reasons for doing so, but I think it’s a shame. It’s everything I wanted out of a 1911. Modern functionality while preserving the old school aesthetics. My only complaint is one of the magazines that came with the pistol was garbage. It wouldn’t feed, very difficult to load, and it wouldn’t lock the slide. I tossed it and have only had 1 failure to feed since.
@@shootersresourcechannel642 I carried one in a shoulder holster in 1988 when I was at 2nd Ad fwd in Germany, old Korea era Remington Rand with mismatched parts, horrible triggers ,small crude sights.
I hate the current situation, but I got lucky and found this one on Gunbroker. I stumbled across an auction with a minutes left at a couple hundred under retail and couldn’t turn it down.. my first Dan Wesson but definitely won’t be my last. Best trigger I’ve had at this point which is why I use it in my Accuracy video.
