The magician "ruining" the trick by casually preempting the end (like when he shows one hand at a time from beneath the handkerchief, supposedly _before_ he escapes) is probably my favorite magic trope. It's understated -- by acting casually about it, the magician doesn't draw attention to it and it _looks_ perfectly natural, but when you think about it, they _shouldn't_ even be _able_ to do it. It's like the magician saying "I know that you know that the trick can happen at any moment, so let's have fun with this." Danial executed this fantastically!
It's smart because we instinctively know that he can probably get out of those thumbcuffs, so by pre-empting it just before the reveal it throws us a curveball because we thought that it was going to be the final reveal. Now we're not sure what we should be looking for and we don't have enough time to speculate before he reveals the card around his two thumbs.
the deliberate showing of slipping his cuffs was a distraction so you wouldn't see him poking holes in the cards. putting the cards away and acting like he wouldn't do the card part because Allison "screwed it up" was also a distraction. he didn't pull out the same pack
Ditto. On first viewing, I just went along for the ride. Wheeee. On second viewing, and knowing where it was going, I got it all. That made me appreciate the act even more! 🤌😗
Penn called this act perfect four times in a matter of minutes. It may not have ended with a Fool Us trophy, but that level of praise is priceless. Beautiful performance in every way.
Have watched a ton of these videos and this is by far my favourite. No stupid or over the top acting and the whole thing just feels so genuine and smooth
Okay after watching it a bunch of times I think I figured it out but man this is so well done^^ If I had not the ability to like watch over and over again and slomotion and stuff there would be no way
Dude was at my birthday party years ago. It's really more of a stand up show than a magic show. But that doesn't mean the magic is not really impressive.
Man, for so many people the language barrier can be such an obstacle for a performer, but you take the language and use it as such a wonderful and hilarious compliment to your act! Absolutely brilliant, one of my favorite performances ever on the show!
It's actually integral to the act as well, as you see, his English isn't so good when he is giving instructions to Allison about putting the card back. ;)
I love how at the very end, when Daniel nods acknowledging they know how the trick was done, Teller points to something they wrote just for him and when the camera changes you can see Daniel saying thank you to Teller. Daniel, ¡ha sido una actuación fantástica!
Feel like the fact that they refused to say any hints out loud is an accomplishment enough. To have Penn & Teller say your trick is a GEM and PERFECTION.....I mean dang, that's some high praise
I am so with P&T on this... after the laughter had subsided, the first thing I thought, was "That was just beautiful"... because it was. Genuinely awe inspiring, thank you.
You liked my comment... it brought me back to the video, which I watched again... and it is even better the second time, even though you know what will happen! My jaw was still on the floor, I was still laughing the whole way through, and my mood has been lifted for the full day because of how fun and amazing this was... truly a masterpiece.
Im german and my girlfriend and I started to watch fool us (guess we are 2 seasons in over all) and this was one of the best routines I have seen in this show. Maybe the best so far that didnt fool them.
I always enjoy the gag where the person pulls a hand out that's supposed to be tied up, it just makes me laugh everytime. Well done sir, good luck in the future!!
Love the program, and your segment. My only beef with the show is that fooling & entertaining the audience is the real Job #1. A loss for everyone would be a dull trick that happens to Fools P&T. And I too, laughed out loud at "JJ".
Hahah right? You'd think that after binging so many of these, I'd realize that the magician is always in control, but I still got worried that somehow the performance got ruined. But of course I was only astonished at the end.
That was one of the best routines I have ever seen, and I love your personality. The words, the moves, the jokes, everything, that was awesome, I loved it. ¡Bravo!
Danial! Omg. Great act! I used to do a similar comedy thumb cuffs routine in the early 90s. I went away from magic and during that time i lost all of my magic things. I was left with only a few trinkets and the magic in my heart. Today i am studying my way back into magic. Until i saw this, i had forgot how well the thumb cuffs played for the spectators. This routine brought tears to my eyes. They are there still as i write this. Thank you for existing. I am going to buy the thumb cuffs and add a card routine. So perfect i wish i would have thought about it. Please except my rendition of it as a compliment to you. Maybe i will get it up on youtube. Again. Thank you for existing.
One of the best performances on FU. Not just this season, but any season. Perfect timing. I've seen this trick done with rope, but not thumbcuffs. And not nearly as well as you, sir. Please work up another trick and try again.
@@DanielKmagia you were amazing!!!! very funny and so smooth, very hard to be so good like that, fantastic routine Daniel!!! much luck in your future to you :)
Performance is absolutely key here! I went back and tried to see where the "tricky" moments were and even though i'm not a magician, it seems like the mechanics of this trick are fairly simple. Its how clean the maneuvers were and the perfect timing for redirection that makes this trick so effective!
This got to be the 5th time I'm watching this and not because I'm trying to figure it out but because the act was so good. You sir embodied everything about stage magic in that performance. Wonderful.
Dear Daniel, I have watched so many great magicians performing on this show and many have left me speechless. But among all those great performers, nobody has amazed me as you did, and it really touched me very much... Thank you!
Amo este programa y es un orgullo que hayas podido hacer esa gran presentación (además de hacer que intenten decir bien Uruguay jajaja). Felicitacionesss! Te queremos 🇺🇾
I am in full agreement with Penn. That really was a perfect routine. You are charming and funny throughout, there are a few surprises in the middle of the routine that are both fun for the audience (and I assume also necessary for the trick) and one big surprise at the end that is hard to see coming but like Penn said you knew was coming.
This was so good and funny that I now feel a little guilty that I rewatched it to see when the switches happened. Really well done, I laughed many times! Thanks for your performance
this routine was such a joy. the fact that they figured it out takes NOTHING away from how incredible it was. you have such charm and charisma and, sir, your english is perfect.
Wow!!! Amazing magic, wonderful acting, excellent humour, and all in a foreign language. I really wish you the best in your journey. Subscribed, even though I can’t understand any of your Spanish videos.
So smooth, exquisite timing & mechanics, and entertaining, that's all we want... you delivered perfectly. I was physically smiling as I was watching. Perhaps the most unexpected humor was the "it is impossible", just genius. This is an all-time FOOL US favorite.
What's crazy is that even for a guy like me who has no magic background, it's easy to see exactly how (or at least when) he did each part of the trick when watching it the 2nd time through. But it's just performed so well that it isn't very noticeable the first time through. Like there's really nothing complicated about the trick at all. It's 100% sold with personality and performance. It's cool to see P&T give such praise to such a simple trick. I have no doubt that they knew exactly how he forced the card on her, how he switched the things he needed to switch, and how he did the whole thing from a sleight of hand standpoint. I think the only thing they were supposedly unsure of was a little detail about the appearance of the box she was holding at the end. The magician wisely and cleverly made it look like it was open and full of cards but there was some doctoring that helped sell that.
100% agree, as someone who regularly obsesses over the how-it's-done of P&T contestants, the praise Penn gives the trick and the fact that he gives no hints, no code, made it more fun to decipher even though it's a wonderful use of selling simplicity. The comedy he uses is perfectly placed as an amazing misdirection, and on the first watch you don't even really catch what's going on. Spoilers ahead. Lest ye' be disillusioned, turn back. I figured out it was a force the minute the trick ended, just because of the fact that retrieving the card at that point was basically impossible. False shuffle, waterfall, the works. The false premise of the cuffs was amazing, and lends perfectly to the storytelling. Getting the guy to choose Houdini was even a force, look again at the backdrop! The box is definitely doctored to look like it's full of cards, while the real box is dropped in a pocket when he turns. Cover the hands, cuff escape, prove the cuffs are still there (which is genius when you think about the misdirection, because a moment later he pockets them!) into the pocket with the key, hand it off, a little movement as he punches two holes into a card that he palmed from the same pocket (you can actually hear him do this because of the lapel mic, but it's a similar sound to the cuffs coming on and off so it's negligible.) the copy of the forced card, and voila! Perfect excecution and a beautiful trick. Since P&T do this all the time, it's understandable they figured it out. But my, was it an amazing performance! I can tell it left Penn stunned. It left everyone stunned! I, for one, can't wait to see more!
LoL, teller actually said himself out loud what he first said to penn in his first sentence. So that lip reading wasnt very special - yours even was wrong because he said "Thats a perfect routine", lmao
Spoiler below!!!! Keep scrolling..... He forces the 6H with a clipped deck. Then @4:09 he swaps the deck with the box with thumb cuffs in it. It looks open. My guess is that it has an adhesive paper rectangle that is printed/modeled to look like the edge of a deck. @4:38 he closes the deck box which sticks the printed fake sticker to the underside of the flap. Then @5:07 he puts the thumb cuffs into his pocket, takes out the key, and a duplicate 6H with holes in it. @5:46 you can clearly see that the card has been folded. This is to conceal it in his hand as he gives the key to Manuel. Then he just has to unfold and stick his fingers through the holes in the card while Allison in opening the box. Brilliant Trick. For those asking about how to get out of the thumb cuffs. There are two techniques that I know of. I think he uses the second. One is to bend your thumbs down hard while they are being closed. Flexing your thumb makes it fatter, and fat enough that the joint is smaller than the opening, even when clamped down hard. The second way is to curl the tip of your middle finger under your thumb from the front to take up some space. The effect is the same.
Great character, you're totally making the language issue work for you. You're funny and the audience just loves you. That will get you very far already.
