I just found your channel and so far, I very much like what I see. I have a four-and-a-half-week-old baby blue-fronted Amazon who will need extensive and consistent training, as well as lots of gear, including a playstand. I used to breed and raise African greys and Senegals in my youth, so yes, I have experience bringing up babies. Of course, one should never stop learning or considering new ways of doing things. I need to beef up on my knowledge and consider new approaches. I'll be taking a close look at all your videos.

Hello Mr Walthers, 👋 I stumbled across this fine video with great information about making this great looking stand about two days ago. Last night I went to Home Depot in Texas to make an honest effort to replicate the PVC stand as much as i could. I just got around to reading the comments about the base piece of your stand & agree with the others. I could not find a laminate board other than a really thin "write off " board... Which would work as a top layer but would still need a bottom support board for the heavy pvc pipes to support. Nevertheless, i ended with a pre-cut 2x4 & am hoping it works out. We purchased a roll of kitchen cabinet shelf paper to cover our board & I'm thinking i might skip the small side railings on the base board for now. (Yours looks great but i don't recall you talking about it?) I may improvise later on that. Bottom line: the cost of materials has slightly increased over time. Not much but around $85.00 +/- because we did a upgrade on wheels & bought SS hardware. My biggest concern is going to be balance of a smaller base & drilling holes in the pvc pipe for the perches. 👀

The stand idea was cool. Your prices were 50% lower than most of the same sizes and items at my area Home Depot and Lowes. I"d like to know where you found a laminated base like that. Neither hardware store in Cincinnati OH had anything like that. It cost me $60.00 to buy the materials you had. Not including the time I am going to put into laminating the base. suppose it's area oriented as to the pricing. But I will say that I love the idea and my bird is worth it

Thanks for the video - although it seems difficult to replicate with your list of supplies you have given me some excellent ideas as a base to start from. If you're reading this I have a couple of questions. First, I suspect the laminate piece was either clearance or a piece of scrap they had left over and on sale as neither Home Depot nor Lowes carries anything even close. All laminates in the cabinet/countertop section of my local Home Depot were >$50. That said, I'm looking for a source for the base that's economical. Secondly, can you show and/or describe how you attach the wooden perch to the camera tripod? I have the tripod and the screw that is used to attach a camera is too small to securely attach a perch. It is less than a quarter inch fine thread meant for the bottom of a camera - NOT a wood screw. You must have used something else for it to be as secure as it is in the video. Thanks again!

This would be a whole lot better if you used an external mike. I could not understand what type of toy you said was not good for macaws? I have a B&G and would like to know what you said...

The base was purchased pre cut from Home Depot. It was in the wood area were they had cut pieces of plywood. Sections of counter tops works well also.

You drill hole in the upright piece of PVC. Drill it all the way threw the PVC.

how did you mount the cup holders again. I saw you pull it off but it was too quick. what are those two white pieces called that are bolted together

Where did you get the wood for the camera stand? I couldn’t find the stand at Walmart with the wood included.

Can you show how you built this I would love to build this for my greenwing macaw!

How did you attach the wood and cement perches to the 3" PVC?

My macaw hates me :( I try to bond with him but he does not let me touch him at all. I sing , feed, spritz, everything he loves and he will not let me get too close to him
