Hello I have a silver birch tree outside near my area, I have read online about what trees are none toxic but there’s a lot of species lol is silver birch wood safe for birds ? I will be bleaching and removing the bark and the other steps before giving my love birds a play stand

From what I understand about birch trees, the bark could be potentially toxic. If you remove the bark and clean it as you planned, it should be safe. Just make sure after you bleach, rinse it very well. You can also scrub it with soap and water instead of bleaching. Leave in the hot sun to dry. It sounds like you had a good plan right off. Good luck with making your stand. Your birds will love it.

It's much easier to peel the bark after soaking it in water!

Thank you for your comment. Safe wood is very important for your bird. When using branches of safe wood, please be sure to remove the bark and give it a good washing with soap and hot water. Here is a link that has all the safe and unsafe woods. There are so many to list, I thought giving you the link is much easier. Enjoy building your tree stand. 😊 www.birdsafe.com/woods.htm

My bird doesn't like me. I wanted a bigger bird like a cockatoo since we have the space and the one at the place we got the small one at had one and unlike the small one the cockatoo let me pet it and touch it. Your so lucky 🥺

I have found that some cockatoos are very loving. It all depends on how they were raised. My babies are so sweet. They are very loud. They also need to be fed a very healthy diet. Before you get one, do a lot of research on them, so you know what their needs are.

Birds love to peel the bark off themselves. You could have saved yourself the time and labor.

Thank you for you comment. The only reason I peeled the bark off was because I read that willow bark contains salicin, which is similar to aspirin. I didn't want anything that would be harmful to my cockatoos.
