Its his first time on a motorcycle with a clutch as well. We are waiting on the battery, so it was popstart city. ;-)
Perfect sized bike for him though, a little bit of work and he'll have many years of fun with it. Sorry about Toby barking in the back ground. Hes insane, we've tried every trick in the book, and he still hates motorcycles, unless hes riding on one. Ted on the other hand as you can see toward the end of the video, doesn't care one bit.

I just bought a 2017 klx140 and i have twin boys, there 9 yrs old, im so excited to get them started on riding dirt bikes, they have the small motovox pit bikes but theres no shifting on that of course. Getting young boys into riding bikes is a great way to keep them motivated and out of trouble. If more parents spent more time with there kids this world would be a better place. The excitement in your boys eyes is priceless and that will make any father feel good. Be safe and keep riding.

They are gonna love it! Daniel has since sold his. (He’s about six feet tall now.) But it was a great bike for a long time. It’s a very forgiving machine in the shifting department with the low home 1st gear, so they will do fine. Daniel was a little upset that he wasn’t an instant pro, after having had a Honda 70 with no clutch, but a four speed shifter. But he got it figured out pretty quick.

Its really powerful for its size, and unlike other motorcycles brands, Kawasaki rounds down instead of up. its not a 140cc, its a 144. Daniel is well over a foot taller since this video, so hes too big for it now, but it still hauls him fine. And if this is your first bike, its a perfect starter. Daniel was about 5' 3" at the time, but at 4' 9" you'll do fine with it. its a pretty low bike, but a lot of power. They round down, instead of up like most manufacturers, so its actually more CC's than 140.... The honda 50 for example is only 49cc.

My Honda cb125e just broke down from a clogged carburettor. Any tips for fixing it?
@JimsEquipmentShed
@JimsEquipmentShed 7 лет назад
Don't mess around by cleaning just part of it. Junk moves around..... Pull the entire thing apart, and soak the parts in CLR. (I think you can get CLR from walmart) Once everything has soaked for a few hours, use a sewing needle to make sure any holes that should be open, actually are. (Be careful not to scratch any brass surfaces with the needle.) And blow everything out with compressed air. Before re-installing it, put a new fuel filter on the line.
@Fiftie
@Fiftie 7 лет назад
JimsEquipmentShed thank you for the advice. I'll be upgrading to a Klx 140 soon anyway. ( that's why I'm here ) I'm Australian so I don't have Walmart
@JimsEquipmentShed
@JimsEquipmentShed 7 лет назад
You may not have CLR then, its basically a calcium, rust, lime remover. Try the workshophero website (They are in sidney) They sell metal rescue, and it should be pretty much the same thing. Just make sure there are no warnings on use with aluminum. (The brass seats are generally not affected by much chemically) white vinegar will work as well.

Wish I had a father like him too teach me how to ride, I know the basic's of a bike, shifting, how to stop, such, but like he knows when he needs to change the carb, I live with my grandfather and he doesn't know much about bikes, he's just gonna buy me one and let me do my thing with it.
@JimsEquipmentShed
@JimsEquipmentShed 5 лет назад
Unfortunately, thats how I learned myself. My father didn't know anything about motorcycles, but over time, I figured it out. And at least you have the internet now, when I had to figure something out, youtube wasn't an option. I either got lucky, and found a friend that knew more, or I broke it, and was more careful the next time around.

@@JimsEquipmentShed Yeah, Well lucky for me, I have a really good friend of mine that has a lot of riding experience, He currently has a KX250F, so, and it's not my completely first time riding, I rid my friends CRF 125 and did everything perfect the first time, he explained the basic shifting (1 down 4 up, neutral is between 1 and 2) and I got it down pat, but, How'd you learn mechanics so well? just curious, I love your KLX 140 videos man!
@JimsEquipmentShed
@JimsEquipmentShed 5 лет назад
J0kerOfficialRBLX While my father wasn’t much of a mechanic, and he didn’t really care for motorcycles, he got me one when I asked. So at about eight or nine, I had my first bike, a Honda 50z. That bike was a beast, and being a semiautomatic (you had to shift, but no clutch) it was a perfect trainer. It taught you to match your RPM’s or stall.
@j0ker893
@j0ker893 5 лет назад
@@JimsEquipmentShed Can you give me some advice for shifting, And some advice for mechanics? I'd be a pleasure to get alittle bit, I'm getting my first bike in 3 weeks, I'll I've been doing is waiting and waiting, I'm so exciting, I'm getting it for my birthday, I'll be 16, 5'4-5'5 Getting a KLX 140G 2017, What is your best advice for learning to shift and not worrying, I know most things like pressing the clutch is mandatory for just about every action you do on a bike, But what is some extra tips you would give me?
@JimsEquipmentShed
@JimsEquipmentShed 5 лет назад
@@j0ker893 Well congratulations, that was about Daniels height when he first got his, he still loves it. The best advice I can give without actually being there, is find the clutches friction point. Just put it in first gear, and don't even add throttle at first, just find that point where it starts to grab. Once you know where that is, it will help you a lot for taking off without stalling. As soon as you hit the friction point, its a matter of trading places with the throttle and the clutch, as the clutch is going out, roll the throttle on. The key is not to get too greedy in first gear. Once its rolling, the bike will be a lot more forgiving. Above all else, don't get too frustrated, it all takes time. And happy birthday!

JustinSTeam2 big Dan is 5’ 11 and about 198lbs. It hauled him really well. While he’s too tall for it, it has Plenty of power. So I’d say yes, it will do very well for you. The power is actually under rated as they rounded down on the engine CC’s. Where most manufacturers tend to round up instead.
