It was horn asking for permission to have a date with Bell (THAT ONE TIME THEY MET AT THE GAZEBO, JUST THAT ONE TIME), not Freya asking for permission. You got it mixed up. And the reason why Freya humored her request despite knowing her intentions is because (I believe) she knew that Bell would just see right through Horn.
Let's put it to you this way, Horn still has her own autonomy, her own wishes and desires. She wanted Bell dead because she felt like Freya would end up fully becoming a normal girl around Bell. So she approached Freya in Syr's form to petition a chance. Freya KNEW Horn wanted that chance to end him, but... If they had animated Episode Ryu and Episode Freya (Big mistake on JC Staff's part) you would know Freya loves to gamble. It's one of her only thrills in life, but... She hardly ever loses, especially since she can see into the souls of people and as a goddess tell if someone is lying... Bluffing and other trickery usually employed doesn't work on her. She let Horn do what she did KNOWING Bell would figure it out and that Horn would lose the bet. She had no reason to decline because she would only gain from it as the stipulation was for Horn to never see Bell again. I hope this clears up your confusion. 😆
About Freya, Horn and Syr. Usually Freya acted as Syr. The Syr of previous season were always Freya. Horn usually acted as a Doppleganger of Freya, except in personal meetings or Gods meetings like Denatus. If real Freya could, she just skipped her job as Syr and change to Freya to go there. But in some exceptions, Horn also changed to Syr to cover her when the real Freya was busy. But as Horn and Freya conciencies are connected, Horn also felt Freya love for Bell so she maintains a psycopatic hate&love for Bell. The previous scene of past episode of Syr meetings Freya, on that moment, Horn was Syr asking the real Freya to date Bell. And Freya warned her that if Bell recognized her, she won't meet him (as Syr) nevers again.
Couple things just to fill ya in a little, not really spoilers. Orario is actually huge, like really big, where they are at is within the wall that surrounds it. Some of the bigger familia estates are on many acres of land. All of the zoomed out shots don't give it justice but ya its just misrepresented a lot. Best one was when Bell was tossed up in the air by Asterius in Season 4 giving you a pretty good look at how big it should sorta look. The part where Freya said that they shared a consciousness meant that emotions and such were shared as well. Horn, who likes to be a 'goddess' transformed into Syr to "validate" her own feelings for Bell, (with the intent to kill him so Freya could stay Freya and not lower herself). Horn is kind of getting whacked in the head since her personal will is also being influenced by Freya (Syr), and her infatuation with him. Even in the LNs you had to read it a couple times to get it. Just one of those convoluted tropes but when all the blocks fall in place it looks great. There may be a little more discussed about the Divinity thing later this season. ++++++++ Maybe Spoilers? +++++++ In the LNs a god could force their will upon the children, like an aura. This isn't really discussed much in the anime. Say Hestia really wanted do get her kids motivated to do a specific task that is in line with her desire she could use her divinity to urge them to all want that for their Goddess. An example of this was in Season 1 in the church and asked the others children from Takemikazuchi's familia to help find Bell's party. Anyways, Hestia is an eternal virgin, both story and mythology. Basically the polar opposite of Freya. Freya can use her will (and beauty) to charm nearly anyone or anything but Hestia can naturally resist it. So for her it was like aura vs aura. +++++ Definite Spoilerish, also not 100% sure this is perfect but here we go. ++++++++ Just to clear it up on Syr, Horn and Freya. Syr was Horn's original name. The actual individual appearance of Syr is created, due to Horn's wish to become a goddess Freya gave her a new name (not sure if it was an alternate name for Freya in mythology), and i'm not sure if it was Freya who shared an already known magic with Horn of if the spell was created upon Horn getting her falna. Horn couldn't hide her presence like Freya can which is why Horn rarely appeared in the tavern as Syr. In a few episodes some sheez goes down and we may get a better explanation then. @@FreshestAnime Aside from purely a whim of a goddess for her own entertainment, the fact that she is still playing as Syr at the time means that she wanted to have Bell as Syr. Because she fell in love with him not as the Goddess but as the girl(mentioned by Hegni to Bell last ep). Only at the end of last episode is when she failed to get Bell as the girl is when she's actually really determined that she would give everything up and let her defile herself just to have Bell as the goddess, as she killed the girl(Syr), the role that she created, and went back to being the goddess(Freya), the role that Horn desired for her to remain as.

So she felt her change when she fell in love with bell and was afraid she would sacrifice everything, including her to be with bell as a mortal (as freyja was willing to be syr forever if it meant being with bell). So horn asked freyja's permission to "date" bell with the secret intent of killing him to prevent freyja from changing. Freyja knew this and knew that bell would see through it, so she let it happen

Bro is so confused at the beginning. Horn is almost NEVER Syr. Horn approached Freya, of her own will, for a chance to get closed to Bell to kill him. Freya was already going to go on the date with Bell, Horn just wanted a chance to get to him first. Freya thought this was interesting and agreed to it on the condition that if she was found out, she could never get close to him again. Long story short, Freya has always been Syr, even from before she met Bell. She played the role of a regular girl for entertainment. She loves her fellow waitresses, but she was going to throw it all away for Bell.
I know it must have been hard to notice at Bell's stress and anxiety level at the time but it also pisses me off when a character CLEARLY reacts to something and others do not pick up on it. Hestia took at least a solid second or two looking around with her eyes and her voice was not natural either. I feel like in series like this where characters are SUPERHUMAN things like this should be picked up on a lot more. Bell could have picked up on Hestia's subtle attitude and perhaps even Hestia could have tried just a bit more to make it clear to only Bell that she remembers. There has to be SOME way that she can communicate that won't be easily understood by Freya familia right ? But for drama Bell has to believe not even Hestia remembers him Also if everyone forgot Bell. How do they even rationalize who was the original Hestia family member that was there BEFORE the rest joined to support them against Apollo familia ?
People didn't forget bell. They got implemented fake memories of bell having joined freyja family from the start. So they probably just have fake memories of having joined hestia family on their own. Which (if bell was emotionally smart) bell could use to find plot holes and make them doubt their fake memories
Syr is a fitting name for this goddess of love. Why? In my language, Syr means cheese, which is a true representation of her personality full of holes and mold!

I imagine it's because even from Freya's perspective if Horn win's over Bell's love posing as Syr, she can always be immediately replaced and killed off by Freya. Letting Horn try is a win/win for Freya. *Edit: Also, I think the reason why Horn asked the question to begin with from Freya is because of what Horn said in the previous episode. She would try to kill Bell or die trying. And as that is Horn's consciousness Freya shouldn't of been privy to that side of her "mentality/personality". Literally schizo shit*

I would like to add a little side note if I may: about Bell loving Ais… I think that (sadly, as far as I’m concerned) that’s were it will go in the end… It’s not that I absolutely dislike Ais, it’s just that I like other girls much better (especially Ryu and Haruhime) but here comes my question: I know that it’s always difficult to define “love”, but, HOW ACTUALLY DEEP is Bell’s love for Ais? I’ll be honest: for me, it’s not that deep as it could seem on a surface level… (but I could be wrong, clearly, that’s just my idea😉) I think that he “loves” Ais for WHAT she is and not WHO she is. I’ll try to explain it: she’s the person who saved his life, and it looks to me that Bell looks at her more like A TARGET, A GOAL TO REACH, an aspiration, than a potential “romantic partner”… Of course there’s nothing wrong to fall in love with the person that saved you, but I think that Bell’s is the exact definition of a “Platonic kind of love” if it makes sense… You can’t really love someone in the true sense of the word (or be loved by someone) if you don’t perceive the other as an equal: if you think that the other is superior to you, you can’t love him/her; you can respect her, admire her… But by putting someone on a pedestal (like Bell is doing with Ais) you are risking to go through the process of “Idolization” (She’s awesome, she’s fantastic, she’s beautiful) and even worse, possibly to the “Angelification” of that person (SHE’S PERFECT, SHE CAN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG, EVERYTHING SHE SAYS IT’S RIGHT, EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG) that’s basically what all those parasites in the Freya Familia are doing with their “excuse of a goddess” Now, Bell wouldn’t go that far, but I just wanted to say that by idolizing someone (like bell is doing with Ais) you risk to move him/her away from you… To put it in a simple way: how much of it is “just” ADMIRATION, and how much of it is “true love”? I mean, he loves her so much that he developed the most broken skill in history just so he could reach hear in terms of power asap. Also this same love is what makes him immune to mind manipulation effects like the charms of a goddess of beauty and similar. If he didn't love her and it was just admiration it would have stoped after what she did in season 3 wich was way worse in the novels btw and also he probably would have fallen in love with Ryu after the events of season 4. He is definitely in love with Aiz it's just that the anime has skipped or badly adapted parts of their relationship and chemistry in part because most of it comes as inner dialogue in their minds. If you want to see their true chemistry I recommend reading the spin off Sword oratoria manga if you are not a fan of reading novels. But funnily what you said about idolization is way closer to what Bell feels towards Hestia than Aiz. That's why he could never fall in love with her despite him saying that she is the most important person to him. That and also Hestia is way too much of a mother figure to him to ever see her as a lover which is a pretty bad combo.
Freya has to wait a year before she gets to have bell join her fagmilia and that is when the fagmilia war will happened and its gonna be so fun to watch
I'm guessing you're still a little confused. Horn also loves Bell, considering she shares Freya's feelings, hence she could fool Freya by asking her permission to go on a date with Bell. But her true motivation was to kill him.

The scene about Horn Freya Syr makes no fucking sense even after reading the LN. i know who likes/hates who and does what, but that fcking scene is still making no sense.
Here is a simple explanation, horn ask freya to date bell in days 2 fetival, day 1 festival is freya dating bell. Why horn ask freya to date bell? Because horn love bell too Why horn love bell? Cus she share conscious with freya Why horn share conscius with freya? Cuz horn want to be freya and freya granted it. Why freya granted it? Cuz freya love every family she have. And yeah anime is skipping a lot of scene
I despise freya now. I don’t care about how much of a baddie she is 😤. Also what horn wanted was a chance to kill bell not date him. That’s why the freya familia was trying to kill her and the syr we knew all this time was basically just a costume worn by horn and freya.
To be fair to me it never really seemed bell loved Ais. It was just gratitude and lust the series called love. If he developed his skill after he spent time with Ais I could believe it was love. However, he got the skill from the first time he saw her knowing literally nothing about her. The typical story love at first sight which is more lust at first sight.
In the light novel its layed out way more. The anime unfortunately cut out so much of Ais and bells interaction throughout the series. But yes Bell is deeply in love with Ais
@vestal896 I've read the novel up to the xenos. From when he met her to when he developed the skill from his "love" that same night having had no dialogue with her is not really love imo. If you want to say he fell in love after then sure that is fine. But his skill developed and locked him in far before.
