Daredevil By Brubaker & Lark Omnibus Volume 1 | 2022 Edition | Overview & Comparison | 

Perhaps a hot take, but they could've and probably should've just combined this and Volume 2 into one volume.

This is one of my favorite runs of ALL TIME ! Brubaker is an absolute writing BEAST ! The man is a genius ! So many twists and turns. You can feel the thriller/suspense throughout the run. You can feel the atmosphere so thick through writing and the art as well ! For those getting this, you're in for a SERIOUS treat ! Great overview Omar !

I’m so glad they changed the spine. I wasn’t a fan of how the original spine was identical to the Bendis/Maleev omnis. This helps this run stand out

This was a book I had, then sold, then bought again. I have since learned the error of my ways and will never again part with this masterpiece.

82 was my first issue of DD in a number of years. I don't even remember what inspired me to pick it up. But it made me a Brubaker fan for life.

At 15:45 we see the reason why I don't invest in the Marvel Omnibus anymore. This cheap paper kills the art and compromises the whole work. I think it's not only disrespectful to the reader, but also to the artist himself. If only they reduced the price of this books...but not even that. I've just bought two editions of the Epic Colletion line: FF vol 22 and X-Men vol 8. Both with great paper quality. I don't know if you noticed, it's very subtle, but the title and parts of the art of these books are embossed on the cover, back cover and even on the spines. Nice touch! The Epic Collection line urgently needs a pattern and I think this is the one to be followed. Both books are printed by Solisco which is also responsible for the printing of the Mighty Marvel Masterworks line which is, in my opinion, the best that Marvel has to offer in terms of quality to its readers nowadays. As much as I want to upgrade from my 3 paperbacks into omni format, this is a situation where I can't justify it with the existing mapping. If I had this first volume, then I'd have to get volume 2 to match it. Standard completionism and an easy choice to make if the contents of that second omnibus were equal to multiple paperback books. But the contents of Omni #2 are equivalent to only _one single_ trade paperback... specifically the Vol. 3 TPB that I already own. Guess I'll check back in a few years to see if they put it out in one single hardcover.

The old spine logo is miles better IMO.

Thank God Brubaker wasn't interrupted by Civil War writing Daredevil and maintained this singular narrative that Bendis brought. Those two runs is what actually got me into reading comics. I just can't stand the constant tossing the tie-ins (Civil War was a torment).

I will say that it is a bummer that the paper quality is reduced compared to the original printing. The spine change doesn't bother me as much, although I do wish they kept it the same. But, I suppose that's the upside and downside with reprints.

Wow, so it's $25 dollars more expensive than the original prints, and it's 25% thinner due to the paper. And they could have combined volume 1 and 2 in 1 book. Sounds like a terrible deal.

This Daredevil run is great! Happy for those that will get the chance to scoop this up!!

I hate these reprints with the thinner and lower quality paper. It really hurts the art when you see other pages bleeding thru.

Can’t wait for this book, currently trying to read everything brubaker after reading Vol 1 of criminal and loving it, i hope this and millers DD is the start of reprints for everything daredevil because a lot of it is OOP

This was one of the first Omnies that I bought when I got into the Omnibus game. Such a great run!

Because of all the great runs from these great writers is why I love DD as a top 5 comic character of all-time for me. However, as much as the Bendis run is my pick for best (yes, even over Millers, imho), Brubaker’s is now the most impressive after learning that he asked Bendis to keep him in ****SPOILER***** jail so Brubaker can get him out. Just impressive as $&it.

With this all i am missing is frank millers vol 1 that thankfully is getting a reprint. So happy my DD shelve is almost complete

Aw man, I wish they didn't change the spine. Now this one volume is going to stick out on my shelf. Well I already preordered this, I will gaslight myself by saying at least the contents are exactly the same.

I just got this omnibus, and it's crazy that this new printing costs $25 more than the first printing, even though I feel like it's an overall downgrade in quality. I do not like how thin the paper is at all and the original spine would've fit better next to my other Daredevil omnis. I love this series, but this printing is pretty dissapointing. If they end up reprinting this with thicker paper I would consider selling this current printing.

Looking forward to this. I missed this volume and, I believe, the second volume from the previous releases. Guess I'm glad I didn't pick it up since I would imagine the next volume's reprint likely will have the same smaller spine logo. I will say, though... is that possible gutter loss on the credits page? Those credits look awfully close to the center of the page.

How would you rate and order the following runs. - Bendis - Brubaker - Zdarsky I have Bendis run and holding for a Zdarsky Omni. I'm tight on funds so need to choose one over the other.

I’m not a fan of the wrap around image they used having a couple of random dudes on the front cover of the actual book.

If anybody knows: how many volumes comprises the whole Brubaker run? Is it two, or more? I’m picking up the Charles Soule run this week, and maybe later this year (or early 2023) I’ll pick up this omnibus.

Why can’t they do proper table of contents?

I’m super excited this book is coming out but I’m so annoyed they changed the spine writing to white. It’s going to stand out in such a bad way from all the other Daredevil books.

Why, why why, change the spines. Terrible decision by Marvel. I could see if they were saving money, but the font on the spine does not change nothing except pissing off fans.

the plentiful use of this Imak printer is killing my will to collect this stuff. i don't mind it once in a while but I find myself passing on books I normally wouldn't because of it :( it makes me sad

Okay, I'm going to say it: I don't think Marvel's work on spines (or just some) is quite on point 100% of the time - some really do seem a bit off point (whilst most are spot on!). However, if that's the most to moan about, things aren't overly that bad, right? 😁

Man, this is a skinny one. Feels like a bit of a rip off. On a positive note, the introduction by Bendis is hilarious and classic him. Loved it.

Marvel are a joke with the quality of these. £80 for pages that are see-through. Glad I managed to pick up a copy for £40 instead, I've heard the run is fantastic.
