One of the most obscure but memorable moments in this game is the Whacka Bump. Each time you hit his head with a hammer he drops a bun which restores a lot of HP. However he keeps begging you to stop and eventually says stuff like he has a headache, is feeling dizzy etc. If you continue hitting him he simply disappears and never comes back, implying that you killed him.

You forgot the mention in chapter 1, the implied death of Kolorado's father. The pile of bones Koops believes is HIS father when the letter mentions his "son Kolorado". So canonically speaking, a character from the first game's father was killed by Hooktail. I'm sure there's more too but I can't think of it off the top of my head. TTYD and SPM were riddled with darker themes

I admittedly forgot because I didn't play through this one right before doing the Dark Aspects video as I did do with the original (it was mainly research and recalling for TTYD, as I'd played it several times in my life with one run semi-recently). I've only played Super Paper Mario once before in my life but that changed as I just completed the game & didn't leave anything out :D that video will come out very soon, sorry for the wait!
You could actually make Hooktail spit out the audience in the battle by jumping on her nose leaving them running off to the left showing they survived.
Wonky Whomp oh yeah you’re right! Kind of a shame as it doesn’t make sense (she’s very clearly chewing them unlike Tubba, as I mentioned). Why would Hooktail just swallow them down whole, and how would she be recovering heart points? Has to be Intelligent System’s workaround in avoiding a higher age rating. Good to know you can rescue them, but regardless we can probably guess they’re safe given the game’s logic on the topic :p
Luigi's Hizza story is likely a reference to the story Susano-o and Yamato no Orochi, in which a village sacrifices young women yearly to a snake demon to appease him much like Luigi's Story. Both Luigi and Susano-o gain access to the beasts lair by dawning the guise of one of the sacrificial maidens and taking their place.

The Eraser is a sentient character in story mode and he kind of acts like a mob boss, asking you to dispatch enemies and to not talk about it after haha
Shadow queen, the palace of shadow, and bone tail were always the most ominous of the stuff in the game when I played it as a kid. Going in the room of the 1000 year door and that ominous music that plays, the HUGE ass door, and the look of the room make me believe there was just some HUGE ass monster on the other side of it and the moment u open it up it was gonna jump out and fight u. Tbh that would've been a great intro to the chapter, having to fight a guardian of the palace as an intro to the HELL u have to go through in the chapter would be a great start to it. Either way the atmosphere of the room makes u feel SCARED, like bruh I should NOT be here👏🏽💯💯💯 Then there's the whole PALACE itself, like bruh there is a whole CITY under rougeport, and how do the monsters down there survive? If it's been 1000 years shouldn't they all be DEAD from lack of clean air, food, and water? Cuz all dat shit down there should be DIRTY from CENTURIES of being sealed off from any circulation. Meaning the monsters either have some type of longevity or are in a sense immortal which makes KILLING them all the more impressive. Shadow queen herself was just freaking scary when I 1st played the game. After years of going on hiatus from it I finally got to her when I was 11, seeing all the candles go black as she SLOWLY pulled her big ass out of that coffin almost gave me goosebumps😂 Not gonna lie tho she made Peach look like a baddie when she fused with her and made Peach wear that black dress. Like Damn girl u tryna bring that back out after we done lol😂😍 Everything about shadow queen makes it feel like u are legit the LAST line of defense against her As even if u WERE to wear her down b4 she kills u I doubt it would Last long, she looks like she can heal quick and even if she can't, I doubt anyone else in the game(maybe rawk hawk with that mega machine that made grubba big) could even come CLOSE to scratching her. Then there's BONE TAIL I was always wondering what was at the bottom of the pit, so I searched it up, and when I found there was a big ass DRAGON I almost LOST my shit. Not ONLY do u gotta go through 99 floors of bullshit, but u gotta face a HUGE ass DRAGON that's stronger than the dang final boss HERSELF at the end of it lol. All WITHOUT saving ONE time.😂 That dragon at the end is like the final fuck u from the game, as maybe u have no items left and just want things to end... NOPE😂😂😂
I've seen the Boundary Break episode showing that off, and while it's fun to uncover what's physically behind these textures- this is beyond what the developers knew the player could see. The angle and view obstruction by the shower curtain implies that she's naked, as she's shown to take off her dress behind it. Otherwise, it would be canon that the princess walks around wearing two identical dresses in the game, which doesn't make sense. They made it with full knowledge that the player would never be able to see this by normal means, and it's a children's game so there was no point in putting effort to design a new texture for her naked body. But in honesty just the fact that we're talking about this too warrants the aspect being in the video :D sorry to type so much, I don't mean to come off as rude at all! Just wanted to explain my reasoning :)
3:47 Minor correction: As you continue to fight Hooktail, some of your attacks will result in a toad escaping Hooktail's mouth unscathed, so there is evidence of her spitting others (aside from Koop's dad) back up whole. Those toads are fine. I do agree though that it's unsettling all the same, seeing a boss from a kid-friendly game jump out into the crowd and literally chew up a bunch of people. EDIT: Whoops, didn't see that someone already commented this! Big dumb move on my part, LOL
People over exaggerate how "sexual" some of the more mature stuff is in this game. It's because of that attitude that game developers these days have no balls. I miss the more innocent times of the late 90's and early 2000's. A game can still be child friendly but have some stuff for the adults in there that the kids won't even give a second thought. Kind of like Pixar films.
0:31 to 3:04 I don't know if I'm just weird. but I actually wouldn't mind if the Shadow Queen took over Rogueport. it's a really bad place. At least with other places like Toad Town, Flipside and Prism Island. they don't deserve stuff like being ruled by Bowser, erased from existence and be forced to "Share" the gift of BLack Paint. Rogueport on the other hand... would probably be better off ruled by a evil bloodthirsty god like demon. 4:45 to 5:14 ...I never knew that whole Foot smelling thing with Hooktail was a implication of her having a foot fetishhh. While Peach is implied to be naked. thank god there isn't a actual model for that. DOn't get me wrong, Peach is attractive. but her Paper version is way too innocent for stuff like that. 16:45 The SHadow Queen is my favorite Paper Mario character and my favorite Mario villain ever. While we don't know why she did all those awful things for world conquest. I can't help but find her so fasanating. I've even wrote a few stories on Paper Mario music extended videos where a Dark Boo finds out she's still alive but is stuck in her spirit form. with the Boo's help with bringing the Crystal Stars to the room where she fought Mario and the others. she makes a physical form of herself and the two plot to take over Rogueport with the Queen's powers nearly returning thanks to the Crystal Stars. They also visit various places depending on the music.
Yeah u DEFINITELY weird asf for wanting the queen to take over rougeport. Messy or not it can still be cleaned up. Think about it, if Mario is strong enough to stand up to(he technically COULDN'T beat her with his own power, he needed stars, friends, AND to have peach share her energy with him like it's Dbz broly) the shadow queen, he can NO doubt stop the piantas and Other guys from fighting. Maybe taking on BOTH gangs at once. After that things would settle down there if they not already, remember the pianta boss in the end was saying he would be more fair and chill cuz his daughter was happy. Also, shadow queen coming back for another round would be dope. I think with her being weaker and everyone else being stronger after the 1st fight, it would make for a more even battle. Although the crystal stars being used to RESTORE her seems strange, considering they should be her green kryptonite and nothing else. Either way it seems like a good way to set up ttyd 2, although I'm curious as to what Shadow queen would look like as a human, cuz low key shadow peach was a baddie😂😂😂
It's suprising that this game ever even came out out this is the darkest Mario game and one of the darkest Nintendo games to come out, and that's the reason I love it

Shelltoast I think I’d make an exception for Hat in Time. It feels like Nintendo: inspired by Sunshine, this game & the GameCube era. Plus the art style and main character makes it seem like an IP straight from the company.. I made one non-Nintendo spin-off of Dark Aspects for a fairly obscure game, so I could drop the name exclusivity eventually. Mostly Nintendo? Lol
A Hat in Time has quite a few dark aspects. Queen Vanessa and the Subcon, The several people that were hit by time pieces who literally got imprisoned within them, The Snatcher himself, Mustache Girl's "perfect universe", the hidden messages that are scattered around the game, and probably quite a bit more.
I really need to play through it again...it’s been a long time because nowadays I only play through games I can record (has to be through HDMI) and I can’t get it to run on Dolphin with my laptop. I don’t even own this game anymore which is a shame, I played many many hours of it as a kid-the last time I got through it was in high school!

you can actually free some of the toads after hooktail eats them if you attack her by jumping. I learned that in a recent playthrough, as always love these dark aspects videos :D Another thing the luigi books are slighty exaggurated and add some things that didn't actually happen in his journey; so it's better to hear the stories straight from Luigi.

I have this mario bros book and it has one infamous scene where Luigi goes into the woods and comes out wearing peaches clothes to try and trick some mechakoopas and then later peach comes out of the forest (looking sexy af ) with luigis cloths on her So that means both of them had to strip naked😨 And to make maters worse peach was unconscious 😰 AND EVEN WORSE yoshi toad and a blonde got to see it all unfold right there in the woods 😱

Trueeee Although he was a lil weaker I think it's kinda BS to think Mario went through the ENTIRE palace of shadow just fighting NON STOP, especially with all the bosses he fought. Odds are man's took long breaks to just chill and talk with his partners. Because from beginning to end is a long trek full of fighting, let along grodus, bowser, and THEN the final BOSS😂 If he did mario has some INSANE stamina and strength, the reason your attacks probably wouldn't have hurt shadow queen the 1st time she got big is because Mario was probably gassed out from fighting Everyone.
The Twilight shopkeeper woman was probably tired of arguing with her husband for dumbass reasons which explains why she wants to date the other guy who she thought was her real husband. But thinking about the fact that she wants him for being younger and cuter, don't you think she actually wants to use him for sex?

19 martincito sure thing! There are two gossip guys in Super Paper Mario- Garson in Flipside’s milk bar and Carson in Flopside’s coffee bar, both on the basement level. Their stories are 10 coins apiece, but they’ll tell you one you’ve already heard for free! Make sure to visit both of them too, they tell different stories
Here's another dark aspect that I think you could've mentioned in your video is Bonetail being imprisoned in the Pit of a 100 Trials reminds me of and could be derived from this bible passage Revelation 20:1-15 for that bible passage says that a dragon (which is the Devil Satan) had been thrown into the bottomless pit and not to mention Bonetail's sister Hooktail and the Shadow Queen remind me of The Devil Satan for they try to bargain with Mario with offers that he should refuse or else he will get hurt or game over for that is just like how the Devil Satan and his demons make deals with people that often get them into trouble or hell which makes me wonder if the Shadow Queen really is the equivalent of Satan in the Paper Mario universe pardon my religious talk! :D
This is especially interesting because of all the religious references in Super Paper Mario’s chapter 7. In that game, Lucifer/Satan is portrayed as Bonechill-ruler of the Underwhere-having escaped his ice prison (like Cocytus, the deepest circle of hell). Grambi of the Overthere seems to be his counterpart then, inspired by Christian depictions of God
@@ThaneGaming Wow tbh I've never thought of Grambi as God but rather as Super Paper Mario's equivalent of Zeus the Greek god of the sky (although I guess he would be like of those old pictures/paintings of God as an old man with a beard) and Queen Jaydes is based off of Hades the greek of the underworld although I have noticed that she and the Shadow Queen look similar so I do think that it's possible they could be related!😀 Anyway I never thought Bonechill was Lucifer until I looked him up on Super Mario Wiki so thank you for telling me that!😀 Anyway I couldn't get enough of the comments saying that Hooktail is a hooker there are hilarious!🤣😅😆😁😂
Essentially everything about this game's story says "we don't care about the characters". No wonder Thousand Year Door received less favorable reviews than the first game. Thousand Year Door essentially laid the groundwork for Sticker Star turning up the way it did.

Different censorship. In that case it'd be because the artists have no other choice- the clothes are on because they need to show the character actually bathing for whatever reason the scene calls for, while in this scenario the curtain is obscuring her/doesn't show her body because the implication is that she's naked. If what you're suggesting is true then they'd have no reason to hide her behind the curtain.
