Damn, I didn't even know O'Chunks had a backstory...they really did make sure to give history to everything in this game.

That's why i like the Super Paper Mario villains, they have so much backstory (and Count Bleck has the best final castle design of every Mario game).

The fact that hell trying to usurp Heaven is just a side plot in part of a bigger story shows just how impressive this narrative is.

The chapter 7 music is gonna give me nightmares. You know, that one creepy theme that makes you want to stop playing? That was the reason for why I still am finishing up the game.

People say that Mario is evil, and he does genocide. But who is the person who controls him? The person playing! This means the player is the person who does genocide.

I knew there was a reason that Super Paper Mario was my favorite Mario RPG.

"Kamikaze" actually originated as the name of the 2 typhoons in a row that prevented Japan from getting conquered by the Mongolian empire. It became a name for suicide bombers probably because the empire propaganda told them they'd serve the same role. I feel like that adds to the Kamikaze Goomba's story.

Someone else had a weird interpretation of the souls in the Underwhere, they said that they were the spirits of past Mario lives.

Hope you enjoyed the video :) there was one minor thing I purposefully left out because I wanted to drive home the impact of the game’s narrative- it simply didn’t fit anywhere: There are enemies called “Cherbils” in the game literally shaped like butts. Because of this, O’Chunks mentions his wanting to spank Mario & gang like “naughty little Cherbils”. Disturbing thought… need I say more? When describing where they shoot harmful gas, Tippi even gets flustered. More seriously, The Super Mario Wiki brings up theory that they may be a nod to the city of Chernobyl, Ukraine- victim of a 1980’s nuclear disaster that caused poison clouds to loom over its skies for months. I wanted to state too that the Floro King does revive later on if the player revisits the palace after they beat the game- though at the point in the story, Mario was made to dispatch a leader under the influence of who’s actually at fault. Speaking of wrongfully murdering the innocent, when the Cragnons are brainwashed the player can defeat them like any other enemy. Doing so will result in a haunting moan and a reduction of points that allow you to level up. Thanks again, I hope you continue to support the series :)

Wow, I feel terrible for Murlie, Murlan and his Flopside counterpart... Bonechill isn't the first character to be based on Satan. The Shadow Queen was also based on Satan with the whole "The Devil will be unleashed within a thousand years." thing. the Shadow Queen gets more points for me because she's threatening and more fasanating IMO. BoneChill is one of the most pathetic bosses in the game. thanks to Luigi's broken Super Jump. On the subject of Wackas. I heard that one appears in Mario Party 6. it's pretty depressing that Wackas were hunted for their Wacka Bumps.

The more I hear this game’s music and see it’s animations, the further back I feel I’m traveling. My first video game was Super Mario Galaxy. Nothing can beat it’s special nostalgia. Super Paper Mario was the second game I ever played, but because it was so memorable, it ties close. This game is actually my favorite. It’s a big part of my childhood though of course. But wow, I felt like I was told the best story ever as a kid. And im still learning about it to this day...

This game was my childhood, and looking back, and seeing how dark, yet beautiful the game’s story is only made me appreciate it way more. One of my favorite moments in the game is when Chapter 8-4 starts, and Tippi apologizes to Mario about losing everyone else in the previous chapters, and yet Mario still chooses to have hope that they’re still alive. And it also gives Tippi hope for the same, and hope that she can still talk down Count Bleck from destroying everything. It’s a really small moment in a game filled with a lot of big moments, but it stuck with me, especially with how it played into the game’s final act later.

I find it a funny that super paper mario referencing Dante Aligiheri The Divine Comedy while at the same time have an insane traitorous clown that want to become the dominant species on the planet and destroy us all to make it happened.

For Bonechill both being the devil and having a slapper ass battle theme is a shame he can literally be accidently cheesed into instadeath

Explanation: Did you know that the river twygz is based on the river styx from greek mythology. In greek mythology about this we know that the souls of the dead are ferried across the river by Charon (himself represented by Charold) after paying him a coin. If one was not able to pay Charon, then they might instead try swimming across the river, and most likely be stuck in it for all eternity. The underhands are likewise based on the souls in the river styx, which may also be referenced by the unintelligible voices that can be heard in the (creepy) music that plays at the river's bed.

About dark and deep things I think that there is a lot to say about Dimantio and why he is the perfect antagonist for this game and connected perfectly to the story. First there is a somewhat likely theory that Dimantio wrote the dark prognasticos and was the one who manipulated the other wizards and also tipi knows him so he is a known wizard. It seem that dimantio lack any form of empathy (in a sense of dont have true mercy to others, he understands others but not truly empathetic to them), to the level they he dont even understand the concept and he look to this as a weekness. It seems that the old wizards had obbsstion with love, there is a possibility that the dark book had to do with this something too. Unlike empathy, love is a combination of ego and empathy (the personal thing with that and the possibility of obbsstion is the egoistic part), I think dimantio seem to see empathy as week because of his ability to manipulate love (as he could see empathy only through love that has bridge of ego) and lead to decline of the wizards until his final plan will happen. The dark book for example manipulates black. What dimantio dont understand is the egoistic part of love is what brought to them lose to him. Its comes true as we see when black and tippi chosen to save the world from destruction its was an emphatic choice, and their love reached a clean state, they have good camstry but now they free from obbsstion and depending, now this is empathy this the force that beat dimantio and the dark prognasticos. And dimantio didn't expect this, that's why he fight against us instead go to his safe dimension because he thought we have no chance and he will come back even if defeated to create his perfect world. Through the power of the chaos heart when he thought the heart is imortal and cant be destroyed. And also because He isn't just lacking empathy he is a sadist. That can also explain why he made the decline and destruction to be so slow, to see them, the other wizards die slow and when the final destruction will come they will be powerless to stop it only see their slow painful suffer coming to end. Love is the center of this game, love is the battlefield between the ego (represented by dimentio) and empathy (represented in the end by black and tipi). Wow now I dont know if its just me or this game is much deeper then it looks (and its already look deep) and darker.

Idk if people who did magic would be doomed in hell I mean it's just paper Marios interpretation and jaydes and her husband never seemed to be against it. Merlin would probably get a pass because he helped the heros too. Great video thou :D

River Twygz Bed is one of the scariest songs I have ever heard in my whole life... so scary it's so out of place in a Mario game. Why this song scares me is that there's garbling voices of the DEAD, you wanna know what the creepiest part is? There is one clear line.... "save us please." Oh dear god Nintendo, I love you but why would you put this in the game!? Oh for the love of God why would it be heard by the most part... children? Man those children are scared by this song. Even adults are scared by it, too. Yeah even if I thought Giygas is terrifying.... he still does traumatize me. River twygz bed and theme of giygas are the scariest I have ever heard.

HELLLLLO lovely people! ...Sorry, just didn't expect to see Alex here. Anyway, Super Paper Mario is great game, my 2nd fav in the series after TTYD (PM64 3rd). SPM has an amazing story and soundtrack, best in the series. I wish they'd bring characters like Bleck and Dimentio back. Dimentio was too good of a villain to only get one game. Plus he didn't even harness Luigi's true power.....My personal fanfic is that Dimentio and the Shadow Queen escape the Underwhere and team up in some way - of course one would turn on the other in a lust for power, but still..... Yeah I know, it'll never happen, but I can dream. Great video!
