Today we will take you into a world, which is a light-year away from the concepts of law and order and human rights as you know them! This is the twisted, futuristic world of the Judge Dredd universe, and it is a post-apocalyptic police state. Judge Dredd is a clone of the Father of Justice, Eustace Fargo, who is the first Chief Judge of the United States of America and the founder of the Judge System. These Judges are not the conventional ones, and the best way to describe them is by seeing them as some kind of an upgraded police force. When the basic forms of government fail the society, these judges take up the roles of a judge, jury, and executioner, all in one! Judge Dredd has the job of restoring order in a decaying society, sometimes by brute force, and sometimes even by rebelling against the authorities.
The Judge Dredd universe does have a fearsome antagonist to deal with in the form of Judge Death. He commands a force called the Dark Judges, and these undead abominations view any form of life as a crime because only the living can commit crimes. Dark Judges come from the Deadworld realm, and Judge Death’s extreme measures get him the name. After finishing off life in their world, they take on Mega-City One, the future of the cities of North America. They are faced with resistance from the likes of Judge Dredd, and their brutalities come to life in some very exciting comic books. The haunting part about this twisted universe is how the present-day world is slowly collapsing to look like this! It becomes more relatable today because the possibility of such a demented future world doesn’t seem like a far stretch! In this video, we will explore the origin of the Dark Judges, and look into all the vicious members in a disturbing future.
