In order to use Kaathe at the end of the run to get to Gwyn I would need to take the Abyss bonfire. But at the point I do 4 Kings in the run I currently have the Darkroot bonfire. So taking the Abyss bonfire would require me to run back to the Darkroot bonfire afterwards, which takes a minute (plus the time it takes to rest at the Abyss bonfire, roughly 7s). Ringing the bells on the other hand is a bit less than 40s in comparison and that allows me to jump down to Firelink Altar in Firelink Shrine at the end of the run. So taking the Abyss bonfire is about 30s slower.

Yup we know about that already and is currently used in all achievements speedruns to dupe covenant items, boss souls and upgrade materials!

what in the world are you even trying to say? and to answer the first part of that question, Kahmul uses a gamepad, and it also doesn’t matter because all glitches and skips are doable with either KB&M and Gamepad

Michael McDonald do you know why he does it? i can't work out why

Yeah, it's to get into Sen's Fortress without having to open the gate. It's a glitch where you can move to another area without spawning in certain pieces of terrain. There's a couple skips in Dark Souls 3 that use the same concept.
