Is there a specific reason that you used the Manus Catalyst instead of the Tin Crystallization Catalyst? It should be worse for non-dark sorceries, right?
pretty impressive to see where you guys pushed it, i remember watching crapplemage in like 1h28 or something ! gz, hopefully you'll get a clean start soon !
This is impressive and everything, but it really bothers me that speedruns are all about executing glitches and exploits, rather than having knowledge and skill at the game. Would like to see a glitchless 100% speedrun, but can't find one. As far as I'm concerned, only glitchless speedruns are true speedruns.
I just realized instead of searching for a dark souls guide you can just search for 100% speedrun and you'd pretty much get the same guide other youtubers do but a lot more straightforward
When you watch someone make bosses that killed you over and over seem like trivial obstacles or minor inconveniences that just need stepping over. I spent 100 hours on my only playthrough of DS. And I died, a LOT.
As far as i know: Look at how the Rapier is equipped beforehand. It is a glitch, where you transfer the moveset of the fast Rapier to in this case the Drake Sword :)
It is used to time the camera movement. Kalameet is on a cycle going back behind the cliffs and coming back to burn the arena. You don't want to move the camera before he is back behind the cliffs. The reason for this is that we use a glitch with enemy healthbars. Normally if you hit an enemy, their healthbar briefly appears to indicate that you dealt damage. If you hit an enemy without looking at them however, the healthbar appearing is effectively "stored". The healthbar will only appear the next time you look at them instead. This even works through collision. We use this glitch to know when Kalameet comes back for the next cycle. There is a random delay in him coming back, so due to the mountains/cliffs being in the way, we would get to know too late when he is coming back for us to hit him. So instead we hit him, store his healthbar and time our camera movement using the shrug animation so that we see his healthbar the moment he comes back from behind the cliffs. This gives us enough time to get into position and hit his tail. If we moved the camera too early, we would see his healthbar already on his way back behind the cliffs instead, making it impossible for us to know when he's coming back to us. (And the reason we have to stay at the specific spot at the arena: Kalameet has two attacks to burn the arena and they're based on where you are. We stand right at the edge of the area where Kalameet will burn the back of the arena, giving us the attack we want and simultaneously the most time to get into position to hit his tail hitbox.)
Whenever there is a new route or new tech that saves a good amount of time, yeah. Otherwise my current PB in 100% is too good to try and grind to beat it.
I don't know what you've done but a year old video about "new strat" of the speedrun got recommended to me today saying that 1h can be broken soon. I know you weren't the first but anyways, i think you triggered the algorithm so somehow push that video on people. Never played the game once but congratulations on your achievement.
