Darksiders 1 - Is The Apocalypse Overrated? 

Firm agree. Despite not remembering moment to moment (9 years since I last played either), I somehow have 350 hours in number 2. No idea how, but I must have really liked it more than I remember.

I think the RPG and open world elements add a lot to the time. The cursed weapons are a lot of fun but I always ended up just feeding them crit chance and crit damage, then just demolishing everything

@@Faikarias I always fed one weapon life steal and the second weapon mana steal. Plus crit of course. Steamroll most things with spell spam

Oh for sure. There's something so satisfying about the aesthetic design with everything feeling heavy and bulky. Sort of like Warhammer or Gears of War. Some of the art straight up reminds me of Spawn with the heavy use of dark contrast and glowing features. It looks fantastic.

If this vid does well and people want the second, I'd be more than happy to lose my sanity trying to condense down a game that's arguably just MUCH MUCH bigger...

They're genuinely really fun games. Most people will say nothing but positive things about 1 & 2. After 2 the studio went under and had to sell off the license. Which is why there was a pretty big gap between 2 and 3. The third and fourth games are generally seen as slightly worse, but still enjoyable.

I'm really surprised how good Darksiders is, from the story, the visuals and the designs specially to the main man edge lord galore War who looked like an Astartes who got lost in WOW and the cast, the voice actors Liam O'Brien, JB Blanc, to MF Mark Hamill so if you are going to play the other games I will watch it no matter what

@@jmmangulabnan6710 I'd say War is not really an edgelord, but rather brooding and stoic. He doesn't really poetical about his own misery or the plight of others, or relish in the pain and suffering of others, or something of the like that people may associate with "edgelords". (to be honest, i don't even really know what the requirements would be for calling someone an edgelord). He's justifiably angry about the situation he's in, the general injustices against the Balance he upholds, and he knows that the best way to go about resolving it is just to get stuff *done*. And that's not just by violence, but by diplomacy. The dude knows that conversing and questioning can yield good results for furthering his quest, as well as a threat once in a while (like the cutscene where he gains Redemption from Ulthane). Plus, he's got some great comebacks and sass to him. His personality extends to visual shots too, ESPECIALLY with the Abyssal Gladiator. He doesn't fight unarmed opponents, so he kicks the sword back to him. And War repays the Gladiator *twice* through his own insults: - The Gladiator mocks War for only having two legs to stand on. So War makes a semi-Eldritch hobbit out of him by cutting off his opponent's own legs (in one beatiful slice). - The Gladiator also mocks war for saying he's "Smaller than i imagined". So when War says "You can look me in the eye when I kill you", he does *exactly* that... After the double leg slice makes the Gladiator *smaller* than War, so that now War has to lift up the Gladiator to put him on an even level with himself. And as promised, at eye level War runs the Gladiator through. My point of discussion aside, *heavy agree* on all else that you mention in your comments.

I only ever played the first 2 originally but always remembered them well. I hear everything went a bit sour from 3 onwards. But I never got around to them so if I do while moving forward it'll be interesting to see.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's a lot of fun to make (still stressful). I just hope it works out. If there's not enough interest I won't be able to sustain with it. Fingers crossed.

Abaddon got squishd and then some nameless normal angel got swiped out of the air. But it never showed her being attacked by Straga. I suppose she retreated after War lost to Straga.

It's heartening to see people express some love for Genesis in the Darksiders series.

Super glad you liked it. I didn't want it to take so long but damn, a lot to do. Darksiders 2 is even bigger than this... might have to do a different video in between so it isn't 2.5 weeks until the next.

Streams are returning soon. I'll do the sequel if this one is received well.

I find DD2 really hard to do content for because of the length a run takes. I'm going to make some big changes to how I stream moving forward so it'll probably end up being a better game for over there. Which means those runs end up on the VOD channel. I haven't played since the full release with Flag yet, only when Vestal was added. So I'm hype to see how Flag does as he was one of my favourites in the first game.

@1:09:42 I'm guessing mankind's gift was knowledge or in markipler terms "big brain time". If we were left alone for a few more centuries we might have had the tech to stand up to demons and angels. i mean even now and days we are close to mech suits and robots then ever before.....so its not that far fetched to think if they had a few more centuries [say another couple "100 to 200 years" give or take stupid/dumb humans.] they would have been prepped and ready to stand with whatever side each human chose, and maybe even on par with demons like Samuel.

It's a bit like a Metroidvania in that sense. Or Zelda. I never worried too much about collecting the artifacts but the Abyssal Armour and Enhancements I really wanted to go grab
