As much as I enjoy listening to him, what I take away from his talks is that I’m not cut out for marriage. All these strategies for dealing with each other just feels like manipulation. I’d rather be alone than constantly having to figure out how to coddle my husband into being an adult.
Sorry you feel that way. There is a 4 hour marriage seminar by him on RU-vid. Towards the middle to end is where he talks about different personalities and their strengths and what they need. When you figure out what your personality and spouse's is, it's no longer a manipulation thing. You know how they will react. It also helps you deal with other people. I suggest you listen to the whole 4 hours. It was an eye opener and I learned a lot about myself. I got married at 18 and been married for 45 years. We've had ups and downs but wouldn't trade it for anything. If you do listen to the whole thing and still feel the same way you should contact them and talk to them. Good luck.
jcbfree I’ve watched it and several more of his talks. I married at 20 and have been married for 20 years. Each has been a struggle. Part of watching his talks and others is what has led me to the conclusion that I’m likely not cut out for marriage. No cheating or dramatic lifetime movie sorts of issues. I just cannot happily constantly bend to accommodate. It brings me no joy and feels like lying. Marriage just isn’t for everyone. His talks have made me more comfortable with that truth.

I actually do fear for my life when my husband drives. He never wants me to drive. I was surprised that when the man said that he is a Christian and his live-in girlfriend is Buddhist you did not question his reference to himself as a Christian. I know my pastor wouldn’t have let that slide. Not only is he living with her, he is definitely going to have problems if he marries her. The Bible says to not be unequally yoked. This is my wife to a t.always bitching nagging and criticizing everything I do. One day she asked me todo something and I immediately complied with her request. As I was in the middle of doing what she asked she started complaining about how I did it. So I immediately stopped what I was doing and walked out of the house and drove off. I informed her that I am on strike and I will only be doing essential tasks that are needed to take care of my son and keep the household running.it has been 3 weeks and my stress level has gone down and she appears to be miserable. Does the title come across as a loving, gentle, Christ-like command? Last time I read about a "dog" in the Bible, it was not a good thing. A lot of people eho are so addicted to the bible has the same issue: you think everything what you read was meant literally word by word. No matter if he says treat him a kindly way or whatever , my point is that , doing so , the wife is in control. If the Bible is the word of God , then it is sufficient . If we have all we need in Christ , we don't need psychology or philosophy . The Bible warned centuries ago that plenty of false teachers would show up , deceiving all those who call themselves "Christians" but who do not have the love of the truth. Now , post modern christianity is being invaded by deceitful female-dominated psychology , that is why marriage teachings are not biblical anymore.
