What is your favourite ECU and why? Sorry for the content drought guys. I hope you enjoy this video 👍 I have also rebuilt my website at builtonpurpose.com.au/👈
You are putting so much effort in the project, why did you go for wasted spark? Fire each spark plug individually instead. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year 2023.
Merry Christmas to you as well! I chose wasted spark as the current demand is much less than 6 individual coils if you are referring to individual coils. A common problem I see is 6 x IGN1 coils are installed in an older Z and the old charging system is not able to keep up with the current demands and the car suffers from flat batteries or needs an alternator upgrade. My in cylinder pressures are not high enough to warrant individual coils also. If I were running 30psi of boost it would be a different story!
I am shopping for an ECU. I’ve looked at Haltech, etc. your point about using two pressure sensors, one before the throttle plate and one after makes a lot of sense. I wonder if a second pressure sensor could be added after the throttle plate when using a non Emtron ECU. I don’t know the answer. 🤷🏼♂️
Could that method of using two pressure sensors, one ahead of the throttle plate, and one after the throttle plate, be used on any ECU to measure airflow? Seems like it would theoretically be possible. Just add a sensor and use a software algorithm to calculate it. Just thinkin’ out loud 🤷🏼♂️
I don't think so. The Throttle Mass Flow algorithm is unique to Emtron firmware from what I understand and no other commercial ECU has this. The calculation itself is basic physics and has been used for a long time particularly in electronic measured flow meters.
@@kyushaspeed Thank you Aaron. I understand. If that process works well I would think that other manufacturers would incorporate it into their products. We may see that in the future. 👍🏼
I had issues with analog interference between my dual WBO2 kit which gave trouble. I found this out when the kit gauge didn't read the same as the ECU. I had to calibrate the reading voltages and it was a pain. It is the reason I switched to CAN WBO2 sensors. Out of interest after calibration of my analog WBO2 I found slight differences in AFR between the front and rear sets which I verified by swapping the sensors over and returned the same AFRs. Could be just an L series thing?
mikuni solex. easy to tune 😃 I mixed 90% U98 with 10% E85 because of my 11 to 1 comp and 12 to 1 AFR at WOT, it ran sweet and smelt sweet as well. After the drive i ran just U95 through the carbys. If you had 13 to 1 comp with E85 and flex fuel sensor you could push out over 300 HP.
Good to know about the timing. Do you know your total advance? A couple of the United stations that had E85 (one was 500m from my place) have closed down now there is only one about 10km out of twon.
