OR the three different levels of heaven : Celestial kingdom, Terrestrial kingdom, and the Telestial kingdom. Only the holiest of holy get to go to the Celestial Kingdom where they sit at the feet of God Himself, The Terrestrial is for the rest of the Mormons ( Only Mormons) and the Telestial is for those "who received not the gospel of Christ, nor the testimony of Jesus." It will also include "liars, and sorcerers, and adulterers, and whoremongers, and whosoever loves and makes a lie", as well as "murderers, and idolaters". Apparently having a 3 foot solid Golden Angel on top of a pure while marble Temple that only elders and the most righteous are allowed to enter is not Idolatry. The curtain ripped when Jesus said "it is done" , but the Mormons sewed it back together. That is the Church I sadly grew up in and thankfully left.

Mormon Stories is run by inactive/X members, very rarely do they interview members to discuss their anti-mormon rhetoric. I am a member, it matters not to me which version of the vision is accurate, or if there is DNA proving the Book of Mormon over a 7800 mile radius. What matters to me is that the Church of Jesus Christ has the same leadership structure Brought in my Moses, in fact it is closer than practiced by todays Judaism (my family are Jews also). I remain a member because the structure and lifestyle helps me stay close to the Holy Spirit. I have nothing against other faiths, or those who do not have a faith, so why these people are running this hate campaign is beyond me.

I am very happy that you have found a place of worship that serves your needs! To answer your question regarding the hate campaign, it's because so many people have come to harm because of the belief systems and bad actors within the church. No one hates the believers of these systems, they hate the harm that they can cause. I hope this explains it well. I want to reiterate that I'm glad that you identify and love your religion, I think it's important to have morals and beliefs that are close to your heart, but make sure to extend grace to those who have been wronged at the hand of bad actors and hurtful docterine including trans people, people of color, people with disabilities, and women. I heard a bit about this from one of my mission companions, and honestly I didn't doubt it because it makes sense. Christ washed the feet of his Apostles, but you don't see anywhere else where he washes other people's feet. I can see this being interpreted as another covenant that an Apostle would make as they are called to that high position. We as regular members don't know too much about it because this isn't a requirement for salvation; all we need to really strive for is being sealed in the temple and anything extra after that depends on how actively we can engage in helping lead the church. It's like with the military how you don't need to be at the very top of the food chain going into all the top secret security clearances in order to be an effective member of the military.

The wife washing the husband's feet is linked to Mary's anointing Christ prior to his death. Wife doesn't just wash the man's feet, she also prepares his body as if he is dead and then lays her hands on his head and gives him a blessing because she's been made a priestess and now has the priesthood! They forgot to mention that part. This entire thing is so secret that I found over 100 sources of it on the internet in about 30 seconds.

The brethren term makes me think of the book “ the handmaids tale” in fact this whole Mormon High demand religion reminds me of the handmaids tale and the way they men in the book just take all power from the women and make them subservient and sexual slaves to them. It’s actually to me quite scary.

It must be the magic underwear thing. I freaked out when heard about the magic underwear. That sounds like something from Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn , Joel Osteen and that group.

No. Wearing the temple garments is not the same as the second anointing. Anyone who goes to the temple gets those.

Never ask s disgruntled ex Mormon about the church! Thou shall not bear false witness! They will take any sacred ordinance out of context and make it about them and their belief of what they think it means.

This and similar posts about the temple are very inappropriate. I have regularly attending the temple for forty years. I feel the peace of God when I am there. Be careful how you speak of sacred things. Pray for understanding. If you feel insecure or unsafe - those feelings are not of God. You should not go into a situation, of any sort, if you feel unsafe. Report it to the temple matron or your Ward or Stake Relief Society Pres

In the temple the apostles wash each others feet like Jesus washed his ancient disciples feet, the wife washing her husband's feet means that she's one of Jesus's disciples. It has nothing to do with demeaning women. It has to do with honoring them. Also we believe in keeping the commandments of God. We can't hear what her father actually said. I'm sure he did not mean that after the ordinance they can go out and commit adultery or get drunk, whatever. I know an elderly couple that got to go to the temple and receive that ordinance. It was absolutely sacred and wonderful. It has nothing to do with getting a free pass on committing serious sin. Those that receive the ordinance are very righteous men and women.
