I keep seeing this topic popping up on RU-vid and it surprises me that people are surprised by it or that they are just learning about it. I learned about this on my mission some 30 + years ago. It never made sense to me but back then I believed everything so was like whatever🤷🏼♂️
Years ago a military sgt invited a group of us young guys on post to his house for big spaghetti supper with all the trimmings. We went, ate up, enjoyed, even offered to help clean up. The entire point of the second anointing is that the ones that receive this already have their "calling and election made sure", meaning that they have already punched their ticket to heaven. Mormon Stories is run by inactive/X members, very rarely do they interview members to discuss their anti-mormon rhetoric. I am a member, it matters not to me which version of the vision is accurate, or if there is DNA proving the Book of Mormon over a 7800 mile radius. What matters to me is that the Church of Jesus Christ has the same leadership structure Brought in my Moses, in fact it is closer than practiced by todays Judaism (my family are Jews also). I remain a member because the structure and lifestyle helps me stay close to the Holy Spirit. Inactive member here. Served a mission and was married in the temple. All of my family is active. This is a little known practice for the elites and higher ups in the church. It’s not made up at all. You can even Google this and find where church leaders talk about it, particularly early church leaders.

I heard a bit about this from one of my mission companions, and honestly I didn't doubt it because it makes sense. Christ washed the feet of his Apostles, but you don't see anywhere else where he washes other people's feet. I can see this being interpreted as another covenant that an Apostle would make as they are called to that high position. We as regular members don't know too much about it because this isn't a requirement for salvation; all we need to really strive for is being sealed in the temple and anything extra after that depends on how actively we can engage in helping lead the church. It's like with the military how you don't need to be at the very top of the food chain going into all the top secret security clearances in order to be an effective member of the military.

I’m pretty sure God does not see women as beneath men. A lot of these religions call for women to be the weakest one. This is modern times and I’m glad people are speaking up
Heresy is dangerous and so many Christians are so hyper concerned with hating another church instead of living their own gospel. They need to cast stones because it makes them feel empowered. I hope one day they get to know Christ like I have.

I'm sorry that you've been hurt. For most of us dealing with correction in our lives is difficult. Willingness to acknowledge mistakes we've made in life is important for personal growth. When I listen to this person share her story I hear bitterness and contention.

The brethren term makes me think of the book “ the handmaids tale” in fact this whole Mormon High demand religion reminds me of the handmaids tale and the way they men in the book just take all power from the women and make them subservient and sexual slaves to them. It’s actually to me quite scary.

Never ask s disgruntled ex Mormon about the church! Thou shall not bear false witness! They will take any sacred ordinance out of context and make it about them and their belief of what they think it means.
I believe the temple is a sacred place i visited the temple grounds an felt such a beautiful peace an calmness, unsure of what goes on inside but i trust what i felt 2b of good an good is of god ❤
This and similar posts about the temple are very inappropriate. I have regularly attending the temple for forty years. I feel the peace of God when I am there. Be careful how you speak of sacred things. Pray for understanding. If you feel insecure or unsafe - those feelings are not of God. You should not go into a situation, of any sort, if you feel unsafe. In the temple the apostles wash each others feet like Jesus washed his ancient disciples feet, the wife washing her husband's feet means that she's one of Jesus's disciples. It has nothing to do with demeaning women. It has to do with honoring them. Also we believe in keeping the commandments of God. We can't hear what her father actually said. I'm sure he did not mean that after the ordinance they can go out and commit adultery or get drunk, whatever. I know an elderly couple that got to go to the temple and receive that ordinance. It was absolutely sacred and wonderful. It has nothing to do with getting a free pass on committing serious sin. Those that receive the ordinance are very righteous men and women.
Ugh. This is so gross. I heard her whole story. I’m still fuming! While I’m living the MOST perfect life I can and handing over money I should have used to feed my kids…. No bad movies, no I’ll speaking, no anything.. oh… and only did in the bedroom what the brethren said we could do… 🤬🤬🤬🤬
