Almost 71 now in 2022 and I've moved on to Classical and the music of Kern, Gershwin, Porter, etc. But oh how these songs take me back to the days when I was young and the world was mine to explore. The buddies , the girlfriends I knew , the cars , and most of all the music. What a wonderful time it was to be young , and how bittersweet to remember .
I'm a musician started learning at age 10 74 now played this song for my wife at least once a week.for 55 years what a great song lost my wife last year what memories
You're absolutely right and I'm a very big Beatles fan. Only music I listen to at home or in my car are all the songs of the 50's, 60's, 70's and sometimes the 40's.
behave will you,the beatles kicked arse all over the dave Clark five ,fact.ps,I like the dave Clark five but their not in the same league as the beatles.
This is my favorite DC5 song of all time. Sadly, a lot of the group have passed on, but they left some great music behind for us to enjoy. Still rocking it in 2021!
Well may i add my vote for this also being my favourite song by them! I prefer the beat ballad love songs they recorded to their more stomping songs like"glad all over"and"bits and pieces" i think Lennon and McCartney would have been proud to have wrote this as I can imagine the Beatles singing this! But Written by Mike Smith and Dave Clark, they shown they were up there with the best of them when they wrote and recorded this. I also love" come home"by the DC5. Also one of the few groups back in the 60s that conquerd America at the 1st attempt! So sad three members of the group have now passed away, but their music and wonderful lead singing voice of mike Smith and the fantastic harmonies of the rest of the group, specially on this record, means their music will live on forever! 🎶🎶👍👍🛵
I feel so blessed, as most every 'boomer' does, to have grown up to such wonderful and beautiful music, 50's, 60's, 70's, performed by individuals and groups that were 'over the top' with talent (way, way too many to begin to list). This song alone, 'Because', just lights my heart with 'smiles' whenever I hear it. As far as the pop music of the last several generations, not even close. So, yes...I definitely feel blessed.
Baby Boomers were very lucky to grow up in an era where we heard beautiful melodies on the radio. Waiting, and finally hearing your favorite songs on the radio was exciting. It's' missing today.
Marc Ackerman If you think of it, you have the best of every generation so far!! I grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and was a young adult in the 80’s. In the 90’s, I got busy, and was not into music, and same with the 2000’s...but I briefly hear it now, and not too thrilled. One time I had to walk out of Taco Time because the music did not make me feel good. I quicky took my tray and dumped the empty containers and paper in the garbage...but, I forgot to look under them. I had dumped my cell phone with the trash...ha, ha. It was closing time, and I actually did not discover it until later. By the next day, a Simply Mac store looked for it, and sure enough Taco Time. By then it was in the dumpster, so he deactivated it, and I got a refurbished one with the insurance. But I do have to say that at least with the 50’s to the 80’s, you have a lot to choose from, and I would add the 40’s too...I know at least some of them!! I listened with my mom!!
I am not a "boomer" but a kid called me that on FB the other day, pretending to insult me 😅 If only she knew the benefits of having been born a boomer, like you said, she would silently retreat her accusation 😉
Takes me right back to high school, Ford convertible, only am on the dial, top down and sunny with my girl next to me and this on the radio. Was living the dream👍
@@jamesbarriere7625 I am now 64 not 12 . Why are you being insulting unless you did not mean to come across that way !Wait I am 65 not 64 but not 12 no way !
BORN IN 66, I TOTALLY AGREE. THE SUPER 70'S WERE GREAT . MOST OF MY FAVE GROUPS CAME FROM THE 60'S. LOVE THE MUSIC FROM THAT DECADE. AND THE AWESOME 80'S!!.ROCK ON RC!!!.
You're so right..the 80's rock, too....Prince #1 for me. Michael J., Aerosmith, The Police, Guns & Roses, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, George Michael and the list goes on and on. Thanks! I guess I prefer the 60's and 70's because they're closer I was very young in the 70's.
shoulderlift so very true Dave Clark was a very shrewd business man as well managed the band and owned all the masters right from the beginning one of my favorite songs of all time I used to play it for my dearly beloved late wife all the time and meant every word such a beautiful woman and song
Kids read magazines to find out about these groups and believed them. Could you imagine social media back then. Probably a different story weed booze and acid?
I’m a 70 years old lady and I used to dance with my unforgettable boyfriend this beautiful and romantic song, those are my memories, thanks Alfonso for loving me so much! Probably we will meet us again in heaven!
Man. This reminds me of being a small child and my parents playing this on a 45. Dad would sing to mom. They would dance. What happened to yesterday man.
Never gets old!! This song always makes me stop whatever I'm doing and relish in the memories!! May just add it to our dance list for our upcoming 50th wedding anniversary party.
I was just thinking the very same thing when I saw your post. It's a crying shame that todays music has become an "arms race" to see who can be the most perverted and offensive. Makes me sad for the youth of today.
Fist concert I ever went to. The Dave Clark 5 was IT! 8th birthday. Saw "Catch Us If You Can" at theatre. Wanted to be a drummer with a double bass. Ended up being a guitar player. No regrets. Lvya all much. Shalom. D
What a beautiful song. It is also so soothing and relaxing to hear. I always feel good while listening to "Because" and feel better after listening. Great songs like this are timeless. Cheers to great music and love. ❤😊
Yvonne Wheeler Beautiful. You got married during the renaissance of music that only comes along every blue moon. This I would say led to your long wonderful marriage. God Bless you both.
What absolutely fantastic memories. I was so lucky to be a teenager in the late 1950's to mid 60's. God, what I wouldn't give to do it all again and not change a thing.
Huge Hit in the USA It Played 24/7 on all of the 50000 watt AM stations coast to coast and what a great hit !..I too ,was a big Beatles fan but loved this song every bit as much as any new Beatles hit on the charts. Brits...the best thing that could ever happen to us here in the US was the British music invasion ! We loved it every bit as much as did you.. Thank you !!!
Dana As a Brit the "British Invasion" was musically one of the biggest con tricks of all time because apart from the Beatles who wrote most of their own stuff everything else was cover versions of American artists. For example Needles and Pins When YOU WALK IN THE ROOM both orginally recorded by Jackie de Shannon.Go Now a huge Moody Blues hit was orginally done by Bessie Banks.I could go on the list is endless. It was all largely American music covered by British artists and sold back to the USA.
@@Topper954 Interesting comments topper..I will be 73 years of age and lived through that whole period.I witnessed the songs and artists first hand and can assure you that we did NOT consider song originality at that time,.We were happy to hear new groups playing their own spin on hits with great melodies that were played 24/7 on AM radio stations coast to coast .In fact, many american groups including the garage bands , also played " Covers" and were heard 24/7 on the radio stations. We wanted great sounds with great melodies that you could dance to... and that is what you brits and we americans ...delivered in spades...and we ate it up.. hook , lie and sinker. If there was a con job going on, we did not care in the least..we bought the records..I played , coronet , trumpet and baritone from age 10 and played some of these songs myself..although I played mostly jazz and swing songs from the 40's.. Peace and I wish you all the best....mate..db
Dana Brinkmeier Dana , Thank you for your interesting response to my comments.Surprised that you knew and didnt particularly care regarding the BRITISH COVER VERSIONS.Personally I was always into orginals and in the pre Beatle days when lots of Stateside hits got covered by British artists ie Cliff Richard Do You Wanna Dance orginal of course Bobby Freeman I'd always buy the latter. As a matter of interest is the USA aware of the phenomenon here in the U.K. called Northern Soul. This took off in the late 60s early 70s mainly confined to the Northern area of England. What it amounted to was a total rejection of pop mainstream records and the playing of quite fast and very danceable American soul by quite obsure artists.Check out Roy Hamilton Cracking Up Over You Barbara Mills Queen Of Fools both massive Northern Soul hits.On a recent US train journey which took me straight across the country from Chicargo to San Francisco (4 days) got talking about music to the coloured steward who had never heard of Northern Soul.Gave him a couple of titles and he was really into it.Gave it a try.
@@Topper954 Top, sorry to say that I have not really followed that genre so would not be able to speak intelligently about same.Have a great summer and...by the way...I Have restored antique farm tractors[ John Deere and International.. as a hobby for over 40 years and have met many UK fellow restorers who have been over here touring the many large tractor and steam shows we have. They are great people and we have had so much fun together. My great mother is from the UK and so I have some English blood flowing in my veins..LOL. The english countryside is so beautiful and we have toured some of your antique tractor shows that many of us had the good pleasure to attend..God Bless ...Dana
I went to school in Tottenham, North London around the time they were making a name for themselves. They had a Residency at the Royal - a dancehall not too far from where my school was. I now live (retired) in Germany. Watching that clip certainly brings back a few memories. The flat where Dave Clark lived, wasn't that far from our school. Happy days 😊😊
I agree. God loves you. Thats not all . He sent His Son Jesus into the world . That if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe God raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. Jesus Lord and Savior.
My guardian hugged and kissed me always playing this song....He held me in his arms as I went over the Rainbow. I see him still and look be with him when he comes up...........
I loved this song. They do not make music like this. I am so glad i came from that era. I could see me and my friends walking with our transistor radios, singing to this. Older people looking at us, like we were nuts.
Damn that’s music, brings back memories when I was a teenager! The crap they have today doesn’t hold a candle to this stuff, gland I came up in the 60sand 70s
Just a perfect pop record, from start to finish. One of probably about 9 others that week in 1964, LOL. The classic hits came fast and furious in those days, an amazing era.
I'am obsessed with this song. Also, I love the announcers introduction. That, along with the opening instrumental note feels like a mighty jet lifting off.🙂🙂❤️
The group's harmony on this song is 2nd to none!! The Beatles are praised for their amazing harmonies, superb backing vocals to whoever is taking the lead, this song shows the Dave Clark Five are up there with the best of them! Not just This song is one even the Beatles would have been proud to have done, mike Smith and Dave Clark wrote it, along with many of their other songs! So sad three members of the group are no longer with us, including Mike Smith, but songs like this are timeless and will prove their music will live on forever!🎶🎶👍👍🛵
If you constantly ask "Why do we no longer have music like this?" the answer is Because we no longer have TV like "American Bandstand", "Shindig" "Hulabaloo", "Upbeat" "Midnight Special", "Rock Concert", and the variety shows that were the staple of "family time" TV especially on weekend nights
.This was one of those Great Groups that made the British Invasion during the early sixties. Their songs were meaningful and are still nice to hear, over fifty years later
The Dave Clark Five has to be one of the most underappreciated groups in history. When I was a kid hearing this song on Chicago's Magic 104.3 FM I always thought it was The Beatles.
THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN BY JOHN LENNON AND PAUL MCCARTNEY IN 64. THEY GAVE THIS SONG TO DAVE CLARK TO GET HIS CAREER GOING. AND THE DAVE CLARK FIVE WAS ONE OF THE BEST GROUPS OF THE 60'S. AND A LOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEATLES WHEN THIS TUNE CAME OUT. ROCK ON MS!!.
@@bethg.5611 : In the beginning of The British Invasion, I first thought this music came from a different galaxy. I was bewildered. Long hair ? Funny accents ?
When I was 10 years old in the mid 60's my older sisters bought all of the popular albums and I listened to The Best of the Dave Clark 5 probably a thousand times. For me that is still absolutely one of the greatest albums from the 60's.
