i met him in 92 , 17 year old kid that really knew nothing about them and he treated me very bad took me 10 years before i figured it out after i learned a little history of the band , i was wearing a Metalica shirt, guess he thought i was being ass but really had no clue .
There’s a video seconds prior to this. The dude tried to rush the stage (Dave didn’t even notice as he was to the far right of the stage) and then he started violently resisting and swinging on the security as they stopped him from getting to the stage. With the crazy people in this world as the dude was just showing the guy could’ve wanted to go stab him, or punch him etc no body knew.
Beating up a fan 4-on-one isn't "security doin' they're job" (typo intentional to match level of intellect). These were not trained professionals; they were thugs itching for a fight.

Man, I've been to a ton of shows and never seen someone have the balls like Dave just showed to security for the handling of this fan. Good for Dave. We all go to have a great time not het beat up. From what i can make out, he tried to get on the stage, didn't hit anyone, didn't hurt anyone. So no reason for 4 not so tough guys to beat him up.
I was at a free concert at downtown Orlando and a security guard there was harassing a group of kids where none of them were above the age of 13 and I could tell that the guy was a little mentally slow in the first place so I stood up for the kids that weren't doing anything but hanging out with the rest of us concert goers. A lady security guard came walking up to see what the deal was and told her about the situation and even volunteered to leave if I was in the wrong, she just smiled, and said I was fine, grabbed Mr. Dim Bulb and walked away. Someone must not give a damn who they hire as event security smh.
The security & production team should have quit immediately. Crew working conditions & pay suck. I'm sick of these self-entitled divas throwing their crew under the bus for following their instructions so they can look like heroes in front of the audience. So pretentious & pathetic!

It was really bad back in the 80's. Security at concerts was brutal...they would literally beat you to the point of near unconsciousness and then throw you into the parking lot. Its hard to believe these assholes still act like this. Thanks for helping your fans out Dave.
I'm not sure of what happened, I can say I used to work Security, I've worked some metal show, and I have seen some very over zealous Security gaurds who came to work every day looking to fight and most of these guys didn't have alot of brains and where deuch bags. The job pays shit too and you're given almost no trainingn Mind you there where some gaurds that where cool and knew it was a job. I used to encourage fans and chant along as I love metal. I don't know the context but those are my thoughts.
Seen RATM in Detroit right after evil empire dropped, and we we're seated in lower bowl close to the floor.. The main floor had a construction fence 5 feet or so from the bottom rail... The whole concert I watched as people ran down the stairs and jumped from the rail and got anialted once they passed the fence.. Was a good concert, but scary how "SAFETY" handled the event...

This is why i do not trust these people. People with power are trampling over the people they are meant to serve and protect. It is sickening. This makes me appreciate dave and his music even more.
What I understood is that someone in the audience tried to get on that stage - which isn't supposed to happen (stagediving really isn't a thing anymore). So in that case, security should take steps to prevent it from happening. But then beating up this one guy by 4 heavy built men??? Big no-no. Dave M was absolutely right to stop the show for this.
17 years ago I was escorted out and kicked out of a concert of Danzig just Because I pulled out my Flip phone to take a 1mgpixel photo worst mistake of my late teen years. I was beaten and kicked out of the once called bestbuy theater or Sony theater I cannot recall in NY City. I was only 19 years old felt like shit. Not even my parents beat me like that ever. Just for a picture a young kid that barely cud speak English trying to explain that to 3 white male securities in their middle 40s and 50s what a shame. This video almost made me cried because there was no justice for me that day or no one that can said hey let the kid alone.
....and you REALLY believe that every local security thug a venue hires is 1. a metal fan 2. old enough to remember dime 3. a good person who just got the job to keep people safe? or is it more likely that they are local tough guys that like to rough people up and get paid for it? hmmm.

Well, I think I overheard them telling Mr. Mustaine that this fan was trying to jump on stage. Common sense should dictate the 4 stopping him to control him w/o getting too rough, but take him further back in the audience, warn him, and let him go. Not beat the snot outta him! Perhaps, take him to the policeman for advice? Those that say these 4 just wanted to abuse their position, are correct.
I was at a Pantera concert and security where feeling up chics upon entrance. Like bare legs touching/ all sorts - totally inappropriate. Third party vendors need to be monitored
He is garbage. He did the same thing in Denver years ago . We removed a fan who had caused trouble since the beginning of the the opening acts. During “Dave’s “ show, the FAN punched a women in the face . As he was being removed, he resisted and fought back, thus needing multiple personnel to take him out. “Dave” then also stopped the show , called us all Pussies, and refused to continue until the offending Security personnel were removed. He was lucky that night because if any further threats would have happened, he would have been on his own.
Exactly dude. Oh you're doing your job and protecting Dave and the band by stopping a guy who tried to get on stage? Who could have a gun or a knife or just be nuts (look at Dimebag, look at Vince Neil recently). And then the guy resists and gets physical so the security get equally or more physical to protect the band...and then this absolute tool with a God complex gets an entire stadium (plus half the Megaturd fanbase) to hate on the very guys protecting him? That a fan gets beaten by security happens too. I believe Dave have experienced this. But he shouldn't act without knowing the whole story, but that's how some people in this world think.
After looking at other camera angles, i can see why Dave is pissed. Even if the guy was trying to get on stage, they should have a proper procedure of restraints and protocol. Instead, it looked like they were improperly trained as one guy was holding him down while the other was taking clear clenched fisted blows to his kidneys. You don't do that. You take them down, hold them, and have authorities take him away and press the proper charges for being a douche.

Security needs to remember that people will storm the stage…it’s just gonna happen at some point. They can control a person and escort them out without getting violent. It’s the job it shouldn’t be personal.
Well for everyone saying security was out of line here this is only half the incident. The first part of the video is security trying to keep this drunk and combative guy off the stage because he made it part way onto the stage and he was so combative it took several security guys to get him off the front edge of the stage. He was still combative over to the far right side and the security guys still had to restrain him until he calmed down. After what happened to Dimebag concert security has changed. Dave wasted 20 minutes of concert time with this and the security dudes were trying to keep him and the band safe.
Its rare anyone gets the whole story. I haven't personally worked security, but many of my friends do on weekends at bars and stuff to make a little extra cash. I've heard some crazy stories of restraining or trying to restrain drunken and out of control people, and the weird amounts of strength they can exhibit, so I can definitely understand your post. It ends up being a couple or few guys just to hold each limb in very out of control situations.

I worked as a bouncer at strip club for about 6 months, and it feels good to whip some ass every now and then because someone is being an ass. Some bouncers do get carried away, though.
They sound just like some of these entitled cops. They’re entitled for a bunch of them to beat somebody up but you’re not allowed to defend yourself against being beat up. Keeping the public safe when they are themselves a danger to the public.

Always thought Megadeth were super lame but I'll always have respect for any artist who calls out shoddy security. Same punks wouldn't be half as confident doing that shit at a hardcore show
