Sadly, Dave Roe passed away this weekend. I put together this compilation of clips from an interview I did with him last year in hopes that more people might see this and remember him. He was a cornerstone in the Nashville music community. He helped and encouraged a generation of players in Nashville and beyond and is sorely missed. I put this thing together as fast as I could and I accidentally left out this clip. All apologies. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2BzdNCxayfw.html

He always had time for everyone. Always had great advice for my upright whenever i asked. Famous and humble, the mark of a good man. funny as heck too !

I do remember him. I saw him live with Cash in the 90's and saw him a few times after with various artists. Every time I would see him in the background I remembered he was the guy with JC. Most recent was a Dee's Lounge video with Patrick Sweany and McKinley James. RIP, Dave!

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. It seems like we lose someone every week. I almost don't want to turn on my computer and see whose face pops up on my news feed because so often the caption underneath reads: "........died.....". I know there are excellent new musicians on the scene to keep things fresh, but every time someone of my generation or before passes it feels like my musical world gets a little smaller. Thanks for the clips!

J. Cash in my opinion, from stories i have heard, put honesty as his highest value..the honesty of others, toward him, or just their honesty in-general. This man told him the truth, plain & simple. Johnny Cash respected that. He gave him the chance to prove he could be in his band. It changed this guy’s life.

Just saw that Dave passed.. man, that's sad. I worked on his upright when he passed through Reno, a couple of times. He d I loved cigars, and well, he comped me in to see Johnny at The Nugget. Johhny Cash- was literally larger than life... and couldn't have been nicer to me. Dave was a great bassist, and man, what a nice guy he was. Rest In Peace, Dave.

We've lost another musical legend and hero. He also spot on about the private jet thing. We played in SanFrancisco to Nashville in about 3 hours. The jet service called us the night before and asked what we would like to eat. Filets and shrimp cocktail. Ice cold beer. Ground crew unloaded our gear. First class! The next week imback ti being a bluegrass diesel breather.....glamor and grits. Thanks Otis love and prayers to Dave's family and friends.

One of the most impressive things about these artists that Otis interviews is how generous they are with praise for everyone they worked with. I was acquainted with some of the folks that Dave, Kenny Vaughan, Jon Dee Graham, etc. talk about. They are/were really difficult people but none of those dudes have an unkind word to say.

I have several PA’s that I‘ve gathering over the past 25-30 years. I still have an old Peavey 4 channel, 200W system with massive (heavy) 15” speakers. I really don’t use it much at all anymore but it still works! A buddy gave it to me when his wife threatened to leave him if he didn’t get rid of a ton of equipment.
