I'm sorry to say this to the originators, but this is David Cook's song and will be remembered as such. His gentle earnestness and supreme vocal range brings new meaning and life to what could have been a droning self-pitying youth ballad. Now it's uplifting. I may be the oldest person here to say it, but I love David Cook.
I'm a huge Cook fan, I really like his studio versions and live performances. When he did that live performance I was really upset, but I knew he'll get on to the next stage. Really glad the studio version turned out this incredible, I've played it so many times since I got it.
He sung this song for his Brother who sadly passed away from cancer. You can feel the emotion, he truly is a deserving winner of American idol and a very very very top singer. Good on you David Cook.
DAVID COOK IS SO AWSOME. I voted until my fingers were numb last night, but even if he doesn't win it won't matter. These studio versions prove he is a star. I would buy his album today if I could. In 15 years you will still know who David Cook, and everyone will be saying what was that kids name again about David A....
This man could sing the phone book and it would be amazing! he is the greatest person to ever grace the american idol stage! in my opinion this is by-far his best performance.
i love david and how he changes the song up i have listen to olp version a million times but i stil dont get the same feeling from them as i do david!!!!!!i love you david
Spread the word everyone, about how great this actually is. I fear many people won't even come looking for this because they didn't like the live version.
I was his fan since the auditions too... I wasn't sure at that moment if AI would "let" a rocker win. David Cook is the best idol ever that came out from that show. He's original, daring, brilliant and very witty. If that wasn't enough, I totally love his voice and the way he looks at the camera.
DC should win!And I hope he wins! He is just soooo marked for stardom - very versatile, very good singing voice and humble too! Time for a fresh air to breathe! Very effortless when he's onstage and singing! That's what a star should be! I LOVE TO COOK! (hehe :D)
I wish america could of heard this version instead of the live one. This is SOOO much better. He has an amazing voice and he's a great front man for a band. He deserves to be where he is now.
Thank you for this video! David has proven that he has the talent and range to do anything! That man can do anything with that voice of his! Some established artists cannot sing live to save their lives! His live version of this was good, but this studio version proves that he can do it! He's amazing! Not only my favorite American Idol..but my favorite singer, PERIOD! No, I am not 12 years old. I'm 28, and I have never connected to a singer like I have with David Cook. He is ferociously talented
I like how you made the video end with the way it ended on the show! That was my one of my favorite parts. It just says so much without even really saying anything.
David Cook deserves to win AI. Everyone believes in paying your dues, and this guy has. One of the reasons he's so good is because he knows what it's like to do a show for 5 or 6 people. He has worked so hard!!!
He sounds great. I don't know why people have to hate. Raine Meada gave him props so that's all that matters. They both do an excellent job singing this song. It has special meaning to David so he does put a ton of emotion into it.
i thought one the best moments when he was asked what the highlights were was when he said Raine maida called him and said what a good job he did with Innocent, i cannot imagine how overwhelming that phone call must have been for him.
this will be my LSS (last song syndrome) for the week - "we are, we are all innocent" keeps playing in my mind just like "little sparrow, little sparrow" for the whole week last week....argh!
I melted when I first heard this. I had (and still have) the biggest most obsessive crush on him. I counted the weeks from the day that I fell in love with him (I think it was March 24, 2008... The day that he did Billie Jean).
I bought the Our Lady Peace version of this song on iTunes just recently, but now I'm thinking maybe I should of bought this version instead, darn! Great job on the video btw!
