Foreign secretary David Lammy confirms the UK will restore funding to UNRWA, the UN aid agency in Gaza. Subscribe to our new podcast now, or you're a silly goose: linktr.ee/pubcast
Just yesterday, the Israeli Knesset voted against the establishment of a palestinian state ever. Their view is clear and now unambiguous. How does this align to the UKs foreign policy?
You seem to have forgotten there was an election for 6 weeks. You can worry about a ceasefire and lose the election, meaning nothing will happen or you can worry about the election, win and then do something about it in power...... OMG LABOUR have been in power for 10 days and they haven't made the universe perfect yet..... so blind..
SuperMarion You rather want your country to continue to support Israel to continue to genocide Palestinians rather than help starving people. What a shame!
So generous My Lammy. You offer £21mil to the Gazan's (which will be stolen by the Israeli state as the treasurer's of all Palestinian funds). You also fund Israel with £70mil/year in foreign aid, even though they are one of the richest nations on the planet, with a GDP almost as great as ours. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We also give foreign aid to India who has a larger GDP than us.... Isreal is 27th and not even close to UK in 6th in terms of GDP which is 6 times larger. Foreign aid isn't based in GDP.
@@britlaker guess that all depends on which table you look at 🤣. And no, it's not anymore. Successive British governments have sold our country to foreign powers by giving away our taxes in the form of 'aid', hoping that they'll have lucrative deals after they are removed from office. It's an absolute disgrace!

@g.s.8409 Not so much blocking any more. They are simply using a delay tactic which in all honesty equates to the same thing, no arrest warrant for Satanyahu
They have actually. UN Watch has repeatedly sent evidence to several organisations and guess what….. nothing’s been done. All can be checked on Google.
And the first British front line politician to publicly point out that Israel had produced no evidence of UNWAR involvement in the hideous Hamas attack? David Lammy our new foreign minister!
This statement seems to suggest that Labour might have shifted its position - I would like to see them do much further and recognise the State of Palestine.
Labour under Starmer played the long game, they knew they could do more by not scaring the electorate like Corbyn. The left under Corbyn was right imo, but the way they pushed Theo point didn’t help them. The centre left just flew under the radar and is looking set to do more good than the far left could ever hope to do.
They've only been in power for a week, you nonce. They've already restored funding to UNRWA, and withdrawn the conservative's formal objection to the possible ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu
And much of the money that is spent by private individuals on Gaza goes into the money box that is run by Hamas and they don't buy food for the little children. yah life can be a bich. 🤷♂️😌
@@KevinHorrox so we shouldn’t be allowed to know what the advice is and whether it’s been followed? Okay, what about if that information would have significant impact on public perception and the increased accountability would have impact on the actions of the government? What is the argument for the legal advice given to a nation not being made public?
@@donincognito189starmer and Hoyle undermined the snps motion for a ceasefire months ago. Both are zionists and have made it very clear they are, all of this is just talk until actions are actually taken.
@donincognito189 they enabled it by not speaking out against it in opposition. Labour friends of Israel doesn't care for the Palestinians either. Also Starmer said Osrsel had the right to cut off water, power and food to Gaza
Maybe Labour really did keep their cards close to their chest for the election. Either way, this is a big change in tone and one that's come all too late.
I support democracies around the world against authoritarian governments, but I think Israel has gone too far with this conflict. The amount of civilians in gepardy is an unfortunate parallel to Russia's acts of war crime in Ukraine.
What much needed aid to the bankrupt cities of England? How is it that foreign countries are the focus of government and not the very cities for whom attention needs attention? Makes no sense.
Did he say this to Netanyahu? Did he insist that Netanyahu must let more aid into Gaza? Our *House of Parliament* should be called *House of Pantomime*
Why do you believe they didn't also say this to Netanyahu? They've only been in power for a week, you nonce. They've already restored funding to UNRWA, and withdrawn the conservative's formal objection to the possible ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu
Empty words like an alcoholic saying he is going to quit drinking whilst ordering lots of drinks. There will never be peace whilst land is being stolen.
Isn’t it funny how all this money is found to support other countries but the government doesn’t think twice about taking benefits from disabled people
You're a mole whining about a molehill bcos it's easier for your simple mind to blame foreigners. The tories gave BILLIONS of taxpayer money to their donors with offshore accounts.
Why do I keep seeing people saying comments are getting deleted? What comments are getting deleted and how do people know comments are getting deleted?
@@GeoffreyHellington it isn't deleted, its just flagged by youtubes algorithm as something likely to be reported as hateful or similar, its then held, the content creator has a choice as to whether or not to allow these comments, basically for community safety or similar, even on videos discussing some of the worst things imaginable. due to youtube being buggy, you can also sort by "newest" and occasionally see comments that haven't been held up but wouldn't be seen otherwise.
If you comment about Israel and war crimes I suspect you get put on a list by RU-vid and you will get those posts pulled and random uncontroversial ones pulled too. I tried 8 times to post something innocuous after criticising Israel...it ain't a coincidence@@simoneworsley6882
OK, well my opinion of Lammy has now reached an all time low, lower than the last all time low. You do realise that these funds will allow Hamas to restock and rearm? No, because you have no idea about middle eastern politics.
Why dont u send all ur money there for aid then lammy stop taking a cheque and give it to them instead of trying to force the uk to use their money they need for the country thats already falling apart because of people like you throwing money away
Forced to do this because they lost a big majority of muslim voters during the last election, the brits have a bizarre obsession to act as the worlds loudest peacemakers, their internal struggles grow stronger by the day but all they want to do is show the world they are the big boys on the geopolitical stage. Meanwhile their own population is suffering and growing weaker by the day, perhaps theyve forgotten but its not the Ukranians or people in Gaza that keep them in power but all the people in the UK who do so, Labour is making the same mistakes as the conservatives by putting all their eggs in the foreign policy basket. If the economy and peoples life dont improve they will be out of government rather quickly.
Loool 😂😂😂😂 Well they can only do something now seen as they are in power. Them loosing Muslims vote won't have mattered the Tories handed them the keys 🤷🏿 at least they are doing something. I honestly detest this Lamy guy
Thats quite logical, but the main point is how u respond to these matters. As a country you can stay more on the sidelines like most countries do or take a more dominant position like the brits do, if i see the problems the UK have to cope with off just based of online news articles i feel like they should focus more on their own issues instead the foreign matters.
@@taokong5744 but I'm trying to say he's the *foreign* secretary. Every country has one. He is supposed to talk about foreign matters. All he says here is it's all really bad and we'll give aid. Hardly acting like we are the centre of the world like you imply
Just exactly what the hell the last 4 foreign secretaries have done, that has made any difference,at least this guy went out there and spoke to both sides.
