Proof, that 'fucking' can be a very powerful, and positive, adjective. 5 years on and this still sends chills down my spine. Continue to stay strong Boston!
Facts. I know people say "it's just a word", but it can evoke so many strong emotions both positive and negative. This here was Big Papi showing his love for his adopted city and the people in it
Only player in Red Sox history that can retire, get shot in his native DR and instead of a trip to probably the best Hospital in DR gets in the Red Sox Private Jet like an ambulance and goes straight back to Boston to MGH. Legendary.
not a boston fan, but just like the world series last year, it still felt great to witness a little bit of history that day, when we put down our differences and came together as americans
That beep was about 20 times louder than it needed to be. I had the volume cranked up to hear the GOAT encourage Red Sox nation, and instead I got a burst ear drum; the volume of that beep was much more offensive than what he said.
The chairman, Julius Genachowski, announced his decision on Twitter. “David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today’s Red Sox game,” Genachowski wrote. “I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston.” Freaking Awesome.
why is it edited?? this was real emotion after a terrible tragedy. I remember watching this live and ESPN didn't bleep it because of how powerful it was it bought the country together and gave the people of Boston a break and let them enjoy an afternoon of baseball
That was just payback for what Bob Gibson did to us in the 60s. Cardinals are a great organization, historically one of the best teams in the National League, and I hope we meet again in the Series soon.
@@hagamapama It would be QUITE an exciting 🌎 series! BOTH teams have WON 2 VS. the OTHER! But, in total WINS, it stands Red Sox 14 WS. WINS; St. Louis 10 WS. WINS!
If there's any doubt about how powerful a moment this was, especially if you're a Red Sox fan, consider that Ortiz's F-bomb was NOT censored on TV during the original broadcast, and the FCC let it slide; no fines no repercussions.
What he said was AMERICAN. When you use vulgar words, its from your heart. What he said was passionate and a message you can't fuck with us. AMERICANS stand up for their values AMERICANS are not intimidated AMERICANS stand united
The bombing was horrible and terrifying but the response to the bombing honestly filled me with pride. A horrible thing happened at one of the biggest events in Boston, but the reliance and sense of community was beautiful. Big Papi’s speech Had me in tears when I first heard it. I am so proud to be from Boston.
