Maggie Two Sticks ...what? People who want change for their country and to see it progress hate it? As a democRAT or LiBrUhL I love my country but that *does not* mean it has immunity to my criticism or disappointment. Grow up.
Democrats love America just as much as Republicans do. But in a different way. You see, Republicans love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Democrats love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.
Wasn't he responsible for a lot of your young people being killed, maimed and permanently psychologically damaged in an unnecessary war and create the patriot act to spy on you guys without a warrant? What did we forget that already? ^_^

Not a Yankee fan, not a Bush fan, not even an American ( Canadian), but watching this live was a truly touching moment and for GB to deliver a perfect strike like that... incredible, iconic moment.
I’m from a very small village in the Scottish highlands, 5 minutes drive from Eilean Donan - the castle from the Highlander movie. I was 24 and a week into my first year as a student nurse on the 11th of September 2001. What I loved about the western world after that horrific day was the way everyone showed so much love and support for the USA. We wanted to send a message to the disgusting cowards who attacked innocent people that they couldn’t defeat the way of life we had and shared with the USA. I still love the patriotism shown by the majority of Americans to this day. The support you give your veterans and the pride you have when you sing your National Anthem….it makes me love you guys even more.
@Jared Sterling dude stop making everything about donald trump, we cant expect to blame trump for everything going wrong and get it fixed. Thats the problem with today, everyone forgets about personal relationships and just lets the media both left and right divide us.
A great moment later overshadowed by GWB's claim about "weapons of mass destruction" and the resulting war that cost thousands of lives and billions of wasted dollars. Make no mistake about it, the country was just as divided back then but at least he did something genuinely uplifting in the middle of it.
@Jared Sterling What have *you* done lately to make the world a better place? Go clean your room. Then get your house in order. Then maybe think about doing something to improve your neighborhood. Maybe someday, you'll finally be mature enough and qualified enough to opine about fixing the nation's ills.
Bush was extremely personable and easy to like, “A guy you’d like to have a beer with.” His administration was awful and his likeable personality was demonized as being easy to turn into a clueless puppet of people like Cheney and Rumsfeld. So very different from Trump, who I would never watch throw a first pitch and I doubt he can even throw a baseball...
@@cntrlrb20 Trump thew out a few first pitches all strikes. Unlike Obama who thew like. Well girl would be too good so worse than a girl. Keep tearing the country apart commies. @perrycoffey5410 I was 17 when 9/11 happened, and it was pretty traumatic for me, because for several hours (that felt like an eternity) I didn't know if I had lost my dad.
@@perrycoffey5410 What does it matter if he's a guy or not? Those few weeks were terrifying for everyone and this World Series helped us to get past it.
Threw a straight dot! Always wondered how much time went between his last warm up toss and his mound appearance. Even not including the significance of the moment, throwing the first pitch in front of a full stadium would be nerve racking. To somehow manage to groove one down Broadway from the official mound was just unbelievable.
2:53 when they announced "The President of the United States" and Bush walks onto that field with a very confident stride it was like seeing the strength of our whole country walk to the mound with confidence and courage.
It's crazy how easily ya'll are distracted from a $1.922 trillion dollar war that killed six hundred thousand innocent people and created ISIS all over a bold face lie. But hurr durr baseball guy throw ball gud I leik heem hurr durr I could share beer.
I tell young people that there was a time when this country was United for a cause…there was still political divide…but a unified front on patriotism. Now we just hate on each other based on what news outlet you watch, race, sexual orientation…and now being patriotic is racist 🤨
My dad watched this game and said he literally started weeping when bush threw that strike.. my dad was on a flight from Denver to Vancouver when the north tower got struck.. he was grounded in Boise Idaho and couldn’t leave his plane for almost 22 hours.. it was the day he said truly brought him to Christ.. and he’ll never forget it ☦️
Go to any youtube video with biden and look at the like ratio. Trump won and democracy has died with him being gone. These idiots will do so much damage before its all said and done.
I was fortunate to be there for this unforgettable game. The emotion in the stadium was palpable. There were fans of all colors and ethnicities. All had a common goal to show their patriotism and support of their country. I will never forget..
@@petesburgher If President Trump isn't re-elected, the country will be put even more in the dumps than it already is. @itz Duffy too much government filled with the same useless people term after term. Bought and owned by corporations or blackmailed into what they want. G.bush Sr was the mastermind behind many things or at least the ringleader including what happened to the middle east teaming up with his good friends the Saudi's who bought his useless oil companies. So much bs in so little time and we are so stupid to begin with. It's like we are begging to fall for one thing after the next. After covid will be the alien invasion which will keep us sheltered in place.
@itz Duffy personally I've lived a full life and I ain't scared of dying. Come tomorrow come what may. Even my horse and dogs are getting up there and probably have no regrets.
@itz Duffy I get what your saying. I didn't wake up till 911 happened and boy what a shock it was. Before then I believed everything the MSM reported. I never trusted my doctor anymore either because she suddenly became a pill pusher around then too and I didn't want any part of it. No flu shots nothing. Never got sick till shortly before turning 60 and the diabetes got me.
George and Laura are seared in my heart. Laura, was a speaker at our Lakeside Gala in Brockport NY - Shortly after towers fell. My son immediately signed up for Army. I hadn't heard from him in months. A new nurse director, I was invited to a meet & greet. All docs and VPs and Laura asked - who here with family in Iraq? Meekly I stepped forward with my sons service star- as she signed it ( with Secret service next to her) she asked, ( noting my tears) “when have you heard from him last?” I replied its been months- sobbing. She took his name. The next morning! My son calls saying his sergeant shook his rack saying “get up NOW and call your mother!” my son called and said mom - what's wrong?!!!! At the gala my beautiful angel First Lady, I thanked. True story
Say what you want about him. But that first pitch throw was amazing. When I saw his Eulogy for his father and he broke for a second, what a gut wrenching moment
@@RubyBandUSA Alan Simpson’s eulogy, along with 43’s moved me to tears. Michael W Smith topped it off with an ugly cry. I’ll never forget working from home during the pandemic and ugly crying 10 minutes before a team call.
Not gonna lie, the fact that he threw such a beautiful pitch here is amazing given the circumstances. All the stress of the coming war, the very real possibility of being shot/bombed from such a vulnerable open position, the expectations of all the fans for you to perform the pitch, the bullet proof vest, just all the things that had to be going through his mind at that time he still goes out there and throws a beautiful pitch. Nerves of steel.
The time after 9/11 was like nothing this country had ever seen. American flags hung from every house in every neighborhood across the country. That pitch and his stature during that event seems so insignificant but meant so much to us all. We were truly the United States of America.
@albe sivito WTF are you smoking??? Do you even realize what a clueless clown you are?? The entire world including the UN said he had them WMD, were you passed out that day or do you chose to ignore the facts and embarrass yourself??? SMH.....
Bc the elites took advantage of the unity from 9/11 to wage misleading wars, establish the surveillance state, and spend more money without paying for it. This is why COVID response has been so divisive
I was at this game. My sister told me that we needed to arrive at least 2 hours early because of the extra security. I'm glad I listened to her, we got in quickly but the lines formed fast behind us. This was just a great moment.
Even with all of its current problems and its flawed history; I love the United States, its people, and its ideals. My parents left their home country for a better future, and this country is my home and every American is my fellow countryman. It pains me to see the country so divided across politics, across race, across economics, and a seemingly growing list of divides. I want unity, I want progress towards a more perfect union, I want this country to do better for more people, I want Americans to help other Americans, I want Americans to live lives of freedom. I love this country; not because it's perfect, but because it's my home -- and I long for the day when we can heal and be reunited as Americans.
I too long for this day when we can fly the flag and chant “USA!” And it only be a unifying chant where every American agrees and exclaims with pride in their country. I wish it would get here soon, these are sad times
And here I thought i came here to relive this moment alone as a lonely American praying for unity while only taking solace in baseball; the one thing every American should have in common. You and I may never meet but as one fellow American and baseball fan to another I want you to know that I love you. We may have our differences, but that is what makes us American. God bless you.
This country is a corrupt failed land that's based on nothing but darkness, ignorance and greed. Also Bush should be locked away for war crimes he dropped bombs on kids and destroyed multiple countries.
@@coolsparkz47 yah? I didn't kill nobody, never dropped Bombs on kids, I don't lie or cheat. I don't support corrupt humans, I don't oppress people. Yah, but I'm the problem? Nah kid, you are.
Was amazing. And how bout those D Backs? Awesome series, one of the best, and Randy Johnson coming in relief? Pitching on short start? Fantastic stuff!
Its a nice comment, and I hope so, but it may have to take another terrible incident for that to happen again. I certainly don’t want another thing like 9/11 ever happening. Maybe the left will realize how out of touch they really are, and end up coming back to reality a little bit.
I was there that day, and I can tell you without a doubt -- He could've bounced the ball 12 times to home plate and the stadium would have cheered. It was an emotional day on many fronts.
Me too Ken. Left the bar an hour early knowing it would be slow getting inside. Took my wife, who never goes. My kids wouldn't believe today if not for her saying yes, it was great
I'm Canadian and I teared up watching that when it happened. And again just now. From the rubber, straight down the pipe. One of those things that aren't important normally, but take on an amazing significance in the moment. Well met, sir.
I was there that night and all week, so surreal and powerful for the country's healing. Wow, hard to believe it was 22 years ago! May the victims memories be for a blessing.
I’m a Red Sox fan but on this day I cheered for every New Yorker R.I.P. everyone that was involved in 9-11 & thank you to all our 1st responders on that horrible day! God bless you all.
It's the kids. The millennials and post-millennials who are just now coming of age, controlling what's popular on social media - those too young to have actually lived through and cherished the togetherness that brought America together during one of its darkest moments... Those who weren't there or were too young - they're today's journalists. They're today's voters. The political landscape has changed. Now it's about hate culture (from both sides) and focusing on miniscule problems rather than bettering the country and world at large... It's certainly sad. I wish it could return. Without a catastrophe like 9/11 this time. If only...
@@iiscrzzey3980 Anymore? With all do respect my man... The party of slavery, Jim Crow, The KKK, was against the civil rights act, put black America on the welfare state and destroyed the nuclear family, the Clinton crime bill which locked more people up for petty crimes than any other bill in US history and the party that shipped all our jobs over seas in the 90s. The Democratic party never cared about America only for power. The only Democrats that ever strayed from the destructive practices of the party were either assassinated or erased from the history books by the party itself.
This is a moment to point to when people ask why bad things happen. Sometimes our contention and depravity gets to a point where only something extreme will shock us back to reality and bring us together. It's just too bad that we are so slow to remember and so quick to return to an "all is well" mentality.
Say what you will about W, but nobody can deny that that WAS a magical moment. Politics stepped aside for a very brief moment, and we were ALL proud Americans!!!
I will never forget watching this live. At that moment, there was no political affiliation. No divisiveness. No political BS. Just our president. Amazing moment.
If our german chancellor would do a similiar thing, he would be in life threatening danger. Everybody would booh him out and there would be no "Germany, Germany!" Rants. This is what i adore about the US. You have a patriotic feeling and a strong love for your country. In Germany we have nothing like that and we hate our politicians, everyone of them.

I absolutely loved how personal he was. He and Laura always had a very kind way about them. Say what you want about him as a president but it shines through that he's a kind person. I'll never forget the news coverage of him at ground zero and then him coming off marine one back at the White House and him stumbling a little on the stairs you could see the exhaustion having been there all day with people. I also remember him going and visiting troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving. This is what a president does and should be - caring and personal to the people they serve
Yea so kind and personal. Like when he met with the 9/11 commission in secrecy and off the record and then refused to tell anyone what was asked or discussed . What a guy!
@Shayne Hopkins... That's funny you say because as far as I can tell us "conspiracy" are the only ones that have been right about anything . During the time after 9/11 I remember seeing flags everywhere. Like literally everywhere. The country was definitely United there for a bit. I miss those days. Hell of a pitch by the way. It couldn't be anything other than a strike.
No matter how hard I try, I always cry watching this video. Incredibly powerful and moving when Bush walks out of the dugout. True patriotism at its finest.
_I watched him and he was _*_my_*_ representative, and I've never felt that way before._ Seems like such a mature way of thinking suddenly vanished in this country. But this guy gets it.

Ill never forget the comraderi following 911 and pride we all felt for our country and each other. Everyone, and i mean everyone put their differences aside, and became friends. Everywhere you went, strangers were giving you the peace sign, waving at you, shaking hands, slapping backs and embracing. We were all united. We were all family. We need that back, desperately!

Didn’t care for Bush growing up… but god damn I get tears in my eyes watching this knowing how important this moment was. How united WE THE PEOPLE were.. baseball prevails and America prevails!
This is the kind of unity I wish we would have today. We respected each other, and worked hard to keep the country moving forward, regardless of who we vote for. We now have such a broken society where we are defined by politics.
I was never a Yankees fan, but I never wanted to see a team win the WS as much as in 2001. New York City needed it so bad. I cried when they lost to the Diamondbacks.
I'm a Yankee fan from CA since I was 12. I was 16 at the time I watched this game. Seeing this brings back all the feeling I had from 9/11. I will never forget.
There is a lot in this country that needed to change then, that we are learning now. And I hope for that equality and the betterment of this country - but make no mistake, he understood that before I did. There are some things that I wish had not happened in his presidency, and there are things he was the only man on earth capable of being so strong. Hats off, sir. Also pretty good ball.
Same guy that told President Bush to throw from the mound or get booed, some 16 years later - though then still 13 years younger - throws his own 1st Pitch from the mound. Having lived in NYC for a few years and having seen games @ Yankee Stadium, Jeter likely gave President Bush great advice I'd say, on any ordinary day. But on this evening, on the heels of the September 11 attacks on America, whether the President threw from the mound, or half-way. Whether he threw a strike, bounced it or it went 10 feet wide & over the backstop. It wouldn't have mattered. Yankee fans cared most as we all did. That our President was there that night to re-start this nation despite great doubt & fear, just as the fans in that stadium were. President Bush took Jeter at his word, stood at the top of the mound and delivered a strike for the entire nation, at 55 years of age on the biggest stage ever. After all, he was always a baseball guy. Well done Mr. President.
It is hard, because he is a likable guy. Seems like a good man. But he was a God awful president. Literally one of the worst if not the worst ever which is saying a lot
