David was emotional on Eddie's song. I think he knew how sick Eddie was. He knew Eddie's voice was failing because he had cancer. Dennis said in an interview that Eddie had to leave the stage at every concert to get oxygen.
That was a good point. But I believe he was so emotional because he was reflecting on Paul (Every night on my knees I pray) but also too because he was battling addiction and really wanted to be free. Just my opinion. But we will never know. RIP to all these legends 🙏🏽
To the late great David Ruffin. One of my top 5 greatest male voices. In the next realty along with Levi Stubbs, Marvin Junior, and Teddy Pendergrass. May God be pleased.
I am here ,listening to David Ruffin even in 2021. There will never be another to fill his shoes. He will always be forever in my heart, through hiz wonderful music.RIP, DAVID
Ruff and E.K. The heart and soul of THE Temptations! Along with Paul, their lead voices defined what would become the immortal Classic Five. Although many others followed with Otis, the original sound and vibe that they embodied together never was, nor ever will be duplicated or eclipsed. Rest in Peace my brothers. You gave the world something special. It will last for generations, as will our deep appreciation. 👑🎤👓🎶
They really needed Melvin For That Bass they needed Otis Williams to organize the whole thing they really need each other would love is come together can't nobody take it apart I'm so sorry did they just part it

David Ruffin was such a great singer. Who ever crossed his path was Bless. Eddie and David were two of the World's Greatest Singers. . I Love to see the two of them together you. Can tell the Love they shared for each other. Two very special gentlemen. Love 💘 these Guys The Temptations Forever.
I'm in full agreement with you. I loved them in the 60s....listened to them all the time at home, on the juke boxes, danced to them and learned their lyrics to sing along. I've loved them ever since and know there is nobody even close to them ever since. Rap is Crap....this is SINGING with SOUL.
I listen to David Ruffus and Eddie Hendricks still listen to them in 2022, Rest in Peace. ALWAYS LOVE THEM. All the back to the 60' or more. It is no music LIKE them. GOD BLESS THEM.
David was intelligent, well versed and an amazing artist. He could compose, paint a picture, then perform with perfection! One of a kind. Thanks for this gem, love it. RIH DAVID💯💕
The Temptations were one of the finest groups to come out of Motown ,producing two lead vocalists. Mr. David Ruffin,& Eddie Kendricks. I had the privilege of seeing them perform in 1968. RIP Miss you!!

My brother loved”The Temptations” Especially David Ruffin.Unfortunately he passed in 1969 at the age of 20yrs. old. He would’ve been 70 yrs old on July 9,2019. I can’t believe it’s been almost 50 yrs. since he left me. I miss him& there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him. Rest well (Baby Douglas). Your Sis,Linda
Love was a splendid thing back in those days, the songs spoke volumes about the mind set, you could feel it in your soul, even today the memories are precious and will Forever be a part of our Happy Place. May they all RIP.
One of the BEST G.O.A.T. of all times. To me it's as if they're still here with us all over again, whenever time I watches them I just can't help but feeling refreshed and loving them all over again. I think they're still making good music wherever they are. Keep working together my brothers.

@Linda Hines Yes, I love the videos! lol Those guys dressed sharp back in the day...I wish I could have seen them in person way back in the day, but I wasn't born till 10-18-1964...😢💔 To all of the Temptations (just an hour or so late) Happy Father's Day! ❤🎶❤
TWO OF THE BEST EX TEMPTATIONS EVER, THEY CONTINUED TO SING AND THEY WERE STILL GREAT, I LOVE DAVID RUFFIN AND EDDIE KENDRICKS SINGING DUET. THAT SONG IS ANOTHER SONG THAT BRINGS BACK GREAT AND HAPPY MEMORIES.
Shelly Berger manager of the TEMPTATIONS back in 82" when the Tempts did the reunion album..said Eddie's voice was shot! so that explains Eddie not doing any leads on that album...really only hear Eddie on standing on the top..i was wondering why he didn't sing any songs...but Ruffin and Dennis did! just was strange..but i heard him on vidieo singing live at that time, and he sounded really terrible...and Dennis saying it took doing Eddie's part a whole lot of retakes just to get a good sound on him.. BUT this performance here, was after the REUNION TOUR! He sounded like he got his voice back...even on the LIVE AID performance he sounded good..so maybe had a cold or something at the time they recorded standing on the top...well whatever happened he recuperated his sound! only 1 EDDIE KENDRICKS..
@@Annbosguy i don't know if you read my comment correctly . what was said i was quoting Dennis Edwards about Eddies voice and i SAID! Eddie sounded fine to me!! people just read what they want to see~~ i don't get it ! and don't tell me or anybody else who voices their opinion what someone feels like saying about any thing or any subject i got one just like you! ! i will respect yours ! you will respect mine , so again ! we all have opinions ! i'm assuming you know Dennis ! who he was~ anyway! Only one Eddie Kendricks! it was Eddie and Paul williams who were the original lead singers in the beginning of the TEMPTATIONS!! so it's clear maybe you should read my comments again without being emotional! i'm one of Eddie's biggest Fan! Also saw Him and David back in the late 70's on tour in Baltimore and i sat 5 ft in front of them at the REUNION tour ALL 7 of them ! so i've seen David and Eddie twice 1 LIVE how many times have you ? just saying...im not the one! again respect..thank you!
@@tedkay3750 hi Ted, I think we may be on the same page, but anytime anyone criticizes Eddie Kendricks with the words fromthe mouth of a third-party or not is bothersome to me. You gave me your history, so I’ll give you a bit of mine. I probably have a few years on you. My first time seeing the mighty Temptations was around Thanksgiving, 1967. Rider College, New Jersey. Just after the release of your my everything, and simultaneous with the release of it’s you that I need. Second time was the following June at the Copacabana. By then Dennis was the lead singer. If you’ve seen the movie “green book“ very faithful adaptation of what that venue was like. I sat in the front. Saw them again in that same venue, 69, 70 and 71. At the last show, Paul was having difficulty breathing, and Cornelius Grant brought him to my table with an oxygen tank. Could not continue the show. Also, in 1969 had front row seats in Asbury Park to see them. Paul was really on his toes and interacted nicely with the audience. Around 1973 and Eddie was appearing as a solo act in a theater in the round in Connecticut. Had dinner and saw him there too. A year or two later at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Fast forwarding, I saw the reunion show in Elizabeth New Jersey. In the early 80s, through a friend of mine, met both Eddie and David at the China club, privately. Good guys, David was cranked, Eddie pretty quiet. Fast forwarding again, few people know that Eddie, David and Dennis were the halftime show at the 1991 Super Bowl, the Whitney Houston anthem game. Their halftime show was not shown on television. Fast forwarding again, 1998 in Atlantic City. Again, With my younger daughter in red Bank New Jersey 2013. In 2019, so the show “ain’t too proud“ in NYC. Great show. It was St. Patrick’s Day. Great seat, wore a green velvet jacket out of respect. Both of my daughters can name the original 5 to this day. They are 30 now. So while I respect your opinion, and we’re on the same page, don’t ever look down your nose at Annbosguy when it comes to the Mighty Temptations. With every good wish to you, Tom.
@@deloress7618 yes! i can..LOL! why do people see what that want to see instead of understanding what they are reading? i said Dennis said this - ! he would know he was in the studio! and don't tell me what i can and can't say! because i won't be that ignorant to tell you or anybody who has a opinion what that can say! respect mine i'll respect yours . Happy New year!
