It's a great opportunity for private industry to set up charter schools for builders etc with teaching all the skills like math, design, building systems, consenting etc all aspects of a particular trade or profession, if older students know exactly what they want to do with their lives why not teach and assist them.
School is for producing capable functioning kiwis who will benefit New Zealand 🇳🇿 as adults. Reward schools that produce good outcomes. Leave the social education to parents because that's who children imitate.
The reason behind the Unions not liking this is because a lot of their members are simply not up to scratch, hence why this needs to happen. My wife has been a primary teacher for 35 years and I've heard nothing but good things about her work. However, she says that there needs to be a metric that ALL teachers are measured against, this is what the Union does not want.

I've heard charter schools don't accept all students. They filter out the worse ones because they would not get paid for them which bumps there stats up alot. There just privatising education.

Last time they tried doing charter schools they were giving the charter schools 6 times the amount per student they were giving to the public schools. Love it how David never mentions this. He talks like hes going to give the same amount per student to the charter school that he would to the public school. Just privatising education probably give alot of the contracts to his rich buddies. Same thing theyve done with early childcare education
