@cryptid_crows there's a hash tag trending on Tumblr about him being Naive, but its moments like this that you remember he is a trained professional. He also mentioned that he has seen a few trends on social media. We know Georga does it but I do wonder at times.
love how he came and talked for nearly an hour and still respected the sag strike! obviously David has a brilliant career besides the things involved with those companies, but this has been quite a year for him with such beloved projects coming out but i really appreciate that he was like nuh uh
14:20 "I felt quite shy about it at first, to suddenly call yourself something else... And now of course that's my real name." And suddenly every trans kid in the audience is like "mm yes relatable". I think this is one of the most laid-back talks I've heard in a while, particularly because there's no expectation to devote a large chunk of the time to all the popular shows, and it was really delightful. Also, wonderful panel host. Very knowledgeable in interesting ways and it really added to the panel. Well done!
That's how I felt after getting married and taking my husband's surname. Hardest part was at jury duty where they were calling roll of 150 people alphabetically and realizing, "oh no, my last name starts with a W now..." 😅
Honestly, the convention panels that have happened during the strike have been the most fun to watch. And the MC of the FanX panels continuously said that the celebrities were having so much fun with the random questions they were being asked that had nothing to do with their work. It's great to just spend an hour with a person and realize they're a human being like everyone else.
Thank you for posting this, Nat! It's quite refreshing to hear David talk long-form about things he usually doesn't have time to cover in such an extended, relaxed way. We all wish the strike was over, but this was one new and highly entertaining thing to come out of it. I kind of hope he'll do more like this. Just... someone needs to take this boy out for a day of real New York eating. (This Long Island girl volunteers!)
Thanks for the upload, and so fast. I thought I'd also add kudos to the panel's host. She had not an easy job, what with all the usual topics about current and most of the past projects being forbidden and no fan questions allowed, yet she managed to direct the flow of the conversation nicely, never talked over the guest and came up with good questions unrelated to the vetoed topics. Of course all of this would've been impossible to achieve if DT wasn't such an exuberent yet thoughtful guest lol. After all he proved one can remain interesting even while tying one's shoe :)
Thanks for posting. It made a refreshing change to hear him chat for the whole session, instead of having to hear the same old questions from the audience, time after time! :)
Shame The Doctor couldn't do any promotion of the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who 😢 its great to have him back at the Tardis control panel for this iconic show 🟦🟦
Greetings from England, thanks for the upload! Lovely to hear David talk about things that aren't Doctor Who related with the same energy and charm, the interviewer asked some very good questions too. Looking forward to the 60th anniversary episodes, I've been watching the show since 1966, and ever since 2005 when the show returned it's been lovely to continue feeling like a kid when watching them. 😃
Can I just say that what he says at the 35:00 minute mark about Shakespeare is exactly how I feel about Good Omens as well? I think it's so relevant and keeps magnetizing people because it is very much real, and identifiable, and human.
David Tennant is a human being I like hugely (if you know, you know, lol). ❤He’s so lovely and animated and is always a thrill to watch. I also love his outfit. And because of the shoe bit, I think we need to revive the “omg, shoes” meme.😂
I do think so many of these serious actors like talking about their profession. I have seen other interviews with just one interviewer and DT offered such thoughtful comments and opinions.
David Tenet is like Robert Downey Jr…RDJ’s personality and persona is always like Tony Stark, David Tenant’s personality and persona will always be those of the Doctor. So cool!
thank you so much for sharing the panel. David always seemed to me like so much fun to hang around he can cheer up an audience so easily with his humor and wit. I love David.
I work in a shoe store, and lately my feet have been hurting and I've just been putting off buying a pair of shoes for so long. Listening to that last question and his answer... YEP! okay! I shall strive! I'm gonna buy me a new pair of shoes asap!
One of my absolute FAVOURITE actors👍🏽👏🏾❣️👏🏾 The extreme variety of roles he's inhabited, some so dark I can't even watch them 😵💫 , are everything from wittiest comedy to Shakespeare to The Doctor, Good Omens...his comedy bits with Donna Tate... I've been watching There She Goes, which is so wrenching and real, I can only watch a bit at a time. He inhabits that father with total realism, all the harder because it's a true story by a writer he knows. I believe it could help so many families in similar situations feel less alone, feel SEEN. And he's so delightful being interviewed ❣️Never coy, nothing he won't answer, and with all his Genius talent, he's totally approachable.
Thank you for sharing! I am so happy that he talked about his podcast! I love it and hope he gets to do more some day. It was interesting hearing him talk about other things and the questions were very thoughtful.
Of all the frames in the whole video, the thumbnail is the one that makes him look like an angry old Scotsman Like age had finally caught up with him when it clearly hasn't yet
Crowley would make an excellent Iago! But seriously, here are some ways I'd love to the witches portrayed in MacBeth (I agree they're hard to get right and can ruin a production): 1) triplet actresses or three who look verrrrry much alike--probably a pipe-dream but I think it would increase the creepiness, especially if they were in identical understated, plain, mid-calf, button-front black dresses circa 1970-80. 2) As good fairies, with the white or colored costumes, wings, flowers, and other accouterments you might see in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Either quite young and beautiful or statuesque and matronly like Tatiana (or a mix). The contrast between their wicked deeds and sweet appearances would be impressive. 3) Portrayed as and/or by children. Many classic horror movies feature evil or spooky kids, right? Why not three little girls as witches?
It is weird how good bagels are in New York. I wasn't looking for a New York style bagel I just stopped at a bodega for a convenient breakfast had a bagel. I was thinking this is really great bagel. Then remembered where I was.
Thanks for this. I paid for the NYCC digital ticket that was supposed to stream this, and they just didn't. No idea why. They have Ewan McGregor, Chris Evans, but no Tennant.
Tennant's doing himself a disservice, re: musicals. We all heard "O Flower of Scotland" in his clowning-around voice--I reckon with a little vocal training he'd be great in a musical role that's potentially not the main singing role, but requires a couple of decent songs. He'd be a great Sky Masterson or even a Nathan Detroit; in another 10 years/if he ever starts ageing, Henry Higgins is a great role that doesn't require excessive vocals.
i cannot tell you how upset i was when i found out that he was in south africa in 2020. i'm south african. he was in the same country as me. AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW.
@@Yickerd No its a US strike. But since a fair few of UK actors are part of SAG as they act alot in the US they cant promote UK shows while in the US or US shows while in the UK. They can promotr UK shows while in the UK tho.
Sorry, I love RTD, but I refuse to accept that: 1) Bi-regeneration being a thing 2) Even if you do accept bi-regeneration, that the Doctor would actually spend the rest of his years on Earth attending sci-fi conventions when he has a working TARDIS.
He is obviously cleverly aware enough to know that he can speak from the heart and be an inspiration, hitting the right notes for a generation orphaned of these values while growing up. This is especially true when raised in a country like Italy, which has always been poor in cultural evolutions from a social and political perspective. It has consistently been a fascist, repressive country focused on intellectual censorship and intellectual dishonesty. What he may not be aware of is that he is an icon for an entire intellectual movement of people who have been told all their lives that they were wrong for this world.
I was wondering about this too. Some of the replies are saying because of the strike, but isn't that over? I can understand not talking about spoilers tho (it's not even been 3 months, and my friend has yet to still watch it).
US actors are on strike currently and actors who are members of SAG can not promote stuff made by the struck US corporations. Good Omens is a half American (Amazon) production, Doctor Who also has US involvement. Staged was made by like six and a half people in London and owned by BBC, so he could talk about it.
Oi the bagels! Bagels were invented in Medieval Age Eastern Europe by Jews as a big fuck you to the Christians in charge who told them they weren’t allowed to bake bread (and if they did the penalties were…horrifying). So they got around it by boiling the dough before they baked it. Didn’t fit under the bread category so they could make it. Don’t be anti-Semitic. And next time you eat a delicious bagel, thank the Jews who have managed to thwart annihilation at every turn to bring you your delicious bagel.
pizza was invented in new york *screaming in italian* he was trying really nicely to tell them that everything American do has been done before in Europe and also better.
"I have been lucky that I can do stage, and film. TV," no that's hard work and lots of talent, He acts in interviews like an overgrown schoolboy, Bet you that's not the person who the director sees and he overprepares
@@nat55041 You made the right decision imo. I watched it twice now, and when I watched it the first time and you went for the screen I literally thought: Oh no, not the screen... wait, I can see better now, maybe she should only film the screen... wait, I can't see his crazy bodylanguage as well on screen... hope she mixes it up then..." And you did just that :)
@@newcamomileI think they're referencing the start where New Yorkers are adamant they have the best food. Like how would they know if they've never experienced cuisine outside their country?
@@katiePetsyfrom a New Yorker RU-vidr that I watch New York is quite diverse when it comes to food. And have plenty of foods from different cultures. But if you also want to add more logic people are quite bias when it comes to their foods 🤷♀️
