david villa is an amazing player, he is officialy the most prolific striker in the world, he's great with the ball at his feet and he's one of the few world-class players out there that is ambidexturous with his feet (i think ribery the only other one), sure he may not be the most physically strong footballer but neither is messi but that doesn't stop him being one of the world's best footy players and that doesn't stop villa being one of the world's best players either
@mrahman1992 I am Spanish and I can assure that Villa is better player than Torres. But Torres is much better in the Premiership because it is a very fast player and fits well in the game of Liverpool (counterattack). But for example, Villa would fit better in the Barca game (possession) because he is a great finisher (the world's best in my opinion) and can play very well with the ball. In the Spanish Selection, Villa has been more important to us but Torres is a great great player ;).
I don't think Villa left spanish league, he's comfortable and knows the competition. The money is not the only one in the world. I see commentaries that valencia is a smaller club. I don't think that. Valencia have more titles than Chelsea for example and nobody thinks chelsea is a smaller club. But now Valencia have economic problems and for this reason people think Valencia wants to sell Villa. Villa is a great striker, one of the best of the world
Villa certainly is the more clinical of strikers even though i'm a pool fan. Although I think its only because of injuries that torres didn't seem to score a lot of goals last season but hes still reached 50 league goals in 72 games in a liverpool shirt, faster than any player to do so for liverpool. Hes been injured so many times this season and hes only played 15 games but scored 12.
LOL, u are funny, it's a bit odd what u say when u consider that we have reached the semi-finals of the UCL everytime for the last 4/5 seasons and even the champions league final two seasons ago. And another thing is that last season we actually had the best record against the top four in the PL. all that plus daivd villa himself has actually been quoted saying Arsenal, Chealse, united and liverpool were great teams in the EPL.

it infuriates me when people say that arsenal dont have the funds to buy top quality players, when we do! this player would be a great player for arsenal as he has the talent, and it was only a year ago when he said he would like to play for arsenal becus he likes there style of play. the only problem is that for the amount of money he is worth arsene wenger believes that you could get many gr8 players. however these injury crisis days of arsenal he is just what we need atm a natural goalscorer!

There's a good read on zonalmarking(dot)net about how the Spanish national team are more prolific when either Torres or Villa play up top In a lone striker role. They play better with more people in the midfield because they pass so much

Also in the Euro pretty much all of Villa's goals were set up brilliantly by Torres when he could've scored himself and then also got himself the goal which won them the final. Torres can provide and score, works hard and loyal to his team. He's just an all round better footballer.
Being Spanish means I have seen all the matches of the Spanish Selection. I have seen a lot of matches of Villa in " La Liga" and I follow the Premier because Torres is a striker that I love. BUT, is not true Torres was better that Villa in Euro because Villa was the top1 scorer of the tournament! The problem was Villa injured in semifinals with Rusia
@frun19 just because you're spanish doesn't mean you know who's better. Yes Villa scores more for Spain but a majority of those goals have been due to Torres assisting them. Plus in the last two major competitions, Euro and Confed., Torres was better then Villa. Fernando's the best striker in the world, FACT :)

I agree he would be good. But those aren't the battles that would happen in the Chelsea - Liverpool match. It would be Villa vs Carragher, Lampard vs Mascherano, Gerrard vs Essien, Torres vs Terry. Cech would never face Reina seeing as they're on opposite ends of the pitch.
