Not everyone who makes a simple assertion is right, even if your mind tells you so. I think, on critical reflection, I have to say that Lennox assumes that his God exists and builds everything else around that prejudice. But he acts as if he can justify his God through his logical thinking. If you don't share his prejudices, his arguments seem absurd. But hardcore believers share his prejudices and therefore applaud him because he comforts them. But I think critical thinking is important. Most of the comments express only unqualified praise and gratitude. There are virtually no critical comments among believers.

The 3 major events to bring about more Science study is the printing press, so more people could communicate with more people, and examination of the thinking of the ancient Greeks. The third was the examination of the planets and sun and figuring out that the Earth was not the center of the solar system and not the center of the Universe. That evidence and experience mattered more than revelation from the Christian Bible. My take on Jesus of Christianity is that he is not a Nature's God, but a Supernatural Superhero. Superman, Spiderman, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, etc. are all Supernatural Superheroes, or Supervillains. Jesus does not tell us humans anything about Nature. Jesus has as much knowledge of Nature as someone living in the ancient world. That is why there should not be debates with Christians about whether there is a Nature's God or not, Jesus does not deserve the promotion from Supernatural Superhero to Nature's God. So a Christian showing that there has to be a Nature's God to create everything, does not advance whether Jesus is a God.

There is no flaw in that question, except that theists have decided to define god as being uncreated.

But it then posits that the universe was already there, which is demonstrably false, as the universe is expanding, we can observe this. That means there was an origin point because things are expanding out from the center of this "big bang" like a large explosion. In order to contain all this you need...the universe, which couldn't have popped into being simultaneously to house all this hot gas and stars etc etc. There had to be something timeless, formless, and spaceless with which to cause a universe to contain all we observe.

In the "prior to the big bang" is simply unknowable, presumably even if we could catch that first spark of light at the very edge of the physical universe. What we do know is that there was super compressed "information" that got released and overtook and destroyed everything that occurred before. So there obviously was something that became everything, but any remnants/evidence was reorganized in the big bang. We can't even assume it was all in a pinhead, that simply models back to an assumption because we do not know how space or time was initially laid out. Just to point out the known universe is only as far as the speed of light out to galaxies and the speed of light back to Earth, anything that is expanding faster than the speed of light from the Earth will not ever be seen as the light will never hit the earth, so we will never see the earliest fragments of the big bang, let alone what is between the knowable universe and the physical universe boundary, or beyond, if there even is a boundary.

Taking anything on pure faith is a terrible idea.

In this question you are treating God as a contingent being, as an other link in the chain, but He is not. As I think it is that the mere existence of anything shows that there is a Creator, you can't bring about anything out of nothing, therefore there must be a Being that simply is, and as it is, in an always present sense, it's no use asking the before of being, it is necessary. If you say, can't we do that with the universe? I don't think so because of contingency, it's like saying that the summ of things that don't explain by themselves are the uncreated cause if you go far and beyond their past. Finally there is the Greek myth about Chronos, the one who eats his wife's children, longstory short, Zeus avoided Chronos and defeated him, claiming his immortality. There is a bit of fantasy in there, but it's like Chronos is the barrier, the unavoidable pass of time in contingent beings that makes you ask the question in a temporal manner, but if Being is beyond Chronos, then you don't need to answer what was before, because the Being does not abide by the rules of time. Rather, God is the ontological grounding of all existance, being, etc. (Aquinas, Aristotle, and Ibn Sina) a demiurge could satisfy the act of being the creator, yet this wouldn't be God, Ho Theos.

I would recommend checking Meyer's talks first then Lennox. Maybe James Tour. All distinguished Dr.s. If you go in with an open mind you might be surprised. I really hope you do. If you'd like a specific recommend let me know.

Regarding your points 4 & 5: The belief in a made-up god can only last a few generations. The belief in Jesus has lasted 2000 years. Without the original miracles performed by Jesus, Christianty couldn't have started, and without all other miracles over the years, Christianty would have vanished. Google about miracles of Fatima, Medjugorje, and Lourdes.

I don't know of any atheists who say we came from 'nothing' Space is not empty, there are forms of energy everywhere.

Trying to use science (that can only detect natural phenomena) to prove or disprove a supernatural God, is as foolishly absurd as using my bathroom scales to record the temperature. With God’s love and blessings.
