@@rockfresh5359 nfl off season has a huge lull almost any NFL fan I know agrees with that. Common sense. Nothing going on right now or for the next month or 2
Not to mention being able to bring in more and more talent as well. Not saying it should just be a league where NFL rejects go to but having big name NFL players would definitely hype up the league some more if they ever choose to go to the XFL.
Brad Butcher Dude the average pay is like $2,000 a game right now, with a bonus if they win. It will take years before they get successful enough to make real money.
MrZahsome If the XFL takes off like I’m hoping it will, I guarantee the nfl will restrict player from playing in the XFL. I was lookin into a little bit of all of that when I was watching the games and if XFL players signed a 3 year contract with their team, they are no longer allowed to play in any other league or any other sport. The XFL is gonna be nothing but nfl rejects for quite a few years. Might have the odd high level player that just wants to play football regardless of what he’ll make, but the money isn’t there to draw in big talent yet.
If XFL can stay and entertain us whole damn season, I can see some promising NCAA players go to XFL rather than stay on NCAA for 3years (so they can go to NFL)
Yeah don't see that happening college is actually good for football players to make them bigger and better athletes nobody that plays high school football is imediately ready to jump to pro ball
I'm just throwing my two cents in here. I don't know any rules on elegabilty etc. But maybe if there's like really good high school players 4 to 5 or hell even 3 star recruits that just couldn't get to college for academic reasons or others reasons. This could be used as a stepping stone League. To mature and we develope talent rather go d 2 or else where. They get great nfl if worst they can be stars or good players in xfl. I do hope that they survived and the product develops because it would rather impressive. I'm going to the home opener for the LA Wildcats next weekend let's see if any of our QBs survived that onslaught today fucken ey
Entirely doubt it now that NCAA allows players to profit on their image. Youre gonna leave a 4 yr scholarship and potential sponsorships for like a 35k a year job? No... No you are not. Now if you like two or 3 years in and got a bad injury and you never get a chance to start in college again... Then yes... Yes you will.
Rooting for DC this year because of Cardale. So glad to see him not only playing again but kicking some ass while doing it. Will forever be grateful to him for stepping up like he did for the Bucks in the CFP. O-H!
@@s.patricklewis1189 starting from last night, there. was high demand for the tickets. It shot up from about $42 per ticket in the 1st level to about $90 per ticket. Parking was about $30, or free if you have the University of Houston permit.
I really want this league to succeed and after watching the games today I feel real confident that the xfl is here to stay I can’t wait to go to some defenders games this season
How was the experience in the stadium? it looked like a pretty good crowd. Also how are the ticket prices? I would assume they are pretty cheap right now because they want to fill the stands for TV crowd shots & to help build a fanbase
@@jonathanhamby6528 actually having cheaper tougher prices is in their plans long term. They want a really engaged fan base. So they encourage whole families to make trips together.
I actually really like the 1pt, 2pt, and 3pt conversions because like you said, I think it adds an extra element of strategy into the game. The only problem I've seen based on the first day of the league, is that teams were not very strategic about what conversion they wanted to go for. In my opinion, they played more reactively than strategic and proactively. When I say this, I mean they decided to go for whatever conversion made sense in the moment, never really thinking ahead in the game. Also, I'm very curious to see what the 3 point conversion rate will be, I haven't seen any team for for a 3 pointer yet (if I'm not mistaken), but I'm curious to see mathematically if it will make sense to go for 3 every time. We'll know a little more once we get the conversion rates, but I'll place an example below. Let's say teams going for 1 point conversions successfully convert 80% of the time (completely made up number by me, just an example) And teams going for 2 point conversions successfully convert 55% of the time. And teams going for 3 point conversions successfully convert 35% of the time. This would mean that the average yield of going for each conversion would be as follows: 1 Point = 0.80 points on average 2 Points = 1.1 points on average 3 Points = 1.05 points on average So if these were the conversion rates, that would mean that going for 2 is the most optimal choice. By any means, if the actual real world conversion rates for 2 point conversions is higher than 50%, and if the actual conversion rate for 3 point conversions is higher than 33%, that means going for one would almost never be worth it, even at a 100% conversion rate. The only way I would see teams going for one with conversion rates like those would be like you said in your video, where the game is tied and you just need 1 to win, or other similar situations. Either way, I think this will be cool to see how teams' strategies will develop as the statistics come more into focus. I'm from Katy, TX so I'm rooting for Houston! (but really I'll be happy if either Texas team wins because the Cowboys are my favorite NFL team lol) Great video my man!
TKS Chrome yes, but the first forward pass has to be behind the line of scrimmage. This is so teams can’t throw a 5 yard slant and that receiver can launch it down field after the first catch lol.
I'm pretty sure everyone's expectations were low but I was actually surprised. Like he said, the pacing was great and the talent looked alot better than the AAF.
Not gonna lie, I was VERY impressed of what I saw today. The XFL has some REAL potential ahead of them. Let's just hope it doesn't fold again. PLEASE!! I need as much football as I can get!
I’m stoked to have another football league that uses slightly different rules. It really made the games more interesting to watch. I’d rather watch an XFL game than many of the games in the NFL that are weak matchups.
@@amznasian the old XFL was just WWE in football form. The new XFL is literally just regular football but a lot more higher paced. which makes it way more entertaining
First time watching one of your vids and really enjoyed it! Day 1 was very positive I think and made me excited for the immediate future of the XFL. I agree with *almost* everything you're saying. My only real disagreement was about the color commentary breaking down the plays as they were being called. As someone who never played football in an official capacity (It didn't come to my school until long after I graduated because it was that small), I really loved the insight they were providing. Their knowledge of the game, the transparency of the communication between replay officials and the referees, and the interviews immediately following plays were all things I really appreciated about the XFL's approach to keeping things moving even in the rare instances of down time between plays. Instead of a camera cutting between players and coaches standing around waiting for a decision and silent conversations between referees on the field, it felt much more engaging from my perspective.
This league’s first two games were very much exciting , and fun with the new rule changes. Really refreshing for a new league to have as few hiccups as it has so far.
@@andrezseventeen9294 hell yeah ...the plays where good ,the refs didn't interfere that much with nonsense calls ,the hit ..ohh boy the hit was on point they were going in on each other .the play designs where on point .I hope tomorrow is just as good as they where today ...go vipers 🐍🐍
👌👌 Flem, keep doing what you're doing bro, I love it. I only watched the NY Guardians vs. TB Vipers. From that game, I love the play style and moments shared with viewers. Here's my top 5! 1. Fast, hard, and meaningful action. Hell you can tell too they want that win bonus, so these guys are BLASTING out there. It was refreshing as hell from an old school football lover. 2. The smack talk and nervousness on the field was genuine. These dudes have things to prove and they are out there being human. Cussing, smiles, jokes.. great stuff to hear all that. For me at least. 3. Broadcast was A1 like you say. Hearing the play calls and getting it broken down by actual players, recent players even, was awesome. 4. Grabbing players after critical moments was so new to me and so awesome! The broadcast even got some awesome fan videos with those player interviews. Dude eating cheese in the stands at the NY game was hilarious. 5. Listening to the play review from the ref booth in REAL TIME was legit! Lastly, my favorite part of that game, lady sideline reporter grabbing a CB who just had a scoop and score, RIGHT before he was about to head back out in defense... Paraphrasing. Her: "Tell me about that scoop and score and what it means to do it in your old hometown (NJ where it was played.) Him: Putting helmet on, "I..I gotta go!" Sprints onto the field with smiles... Booth announcer: "Just go out on the field and ask him! Who's gonna stop you!"
I would absolutely love to see just as much XFL content as NFL content man!!! I really think this league is here to stay this time around!! And I want all the info I can get on it!!
Legit impressed. Was glad it was as good as it was. Also, special thanks to the guy who doesn't quite know how to operate the 'bleep' button properly yet, and making the sideline interviews so raw as a result.
Agree 100%. Very impressed by the overall production and especially loved getting to go into the review booth and listen to their process. NFL could definitely learn from the XFL on this. I really hope this league is successful!
I also like them interviewing right after good and bad plays! Let’s people get to know some of the players we don’t know or forgot about. Awesome video man👍👍
I was pleasantly surprised! To me, it had the effort of a college game (for understandable reasons) from the players without the whining of NFL players. Being from Houston, I am definitely a Roughneck fan. Its fun to watch.
To fix the profanity on interviews, I think they should do the interview then have a delay so that editors can throw in the *bleeps* on the cuss words. What’s the XFL without cussing?
I believe they have delays by like 10 seconds. But definitely lol. But I'm sure they'll figure ways to fix it up. They just started up so hoping they do.
I'm from Canada and am I Vikings fan. Love the NFL but also love the CFL which is a much faster higher scoring game. In general. I really enjoyed the xfl first weekend. Good quality of play and it's a serious league. I wish them well and will continue watching.
FlemLo it's up to you and other youtubers to get this XFL coverage. I think its great to give athletes another Avenue to make it to the League. I love your take on the game and agree with everything you said. Keep them videos coming bra!!
This league is amazing dude especially the running backs, cornerbacks, and quarterbacks are killer. Jordan Ta'Amu and Pj Walker are coming forward as my favorite players even though I like NY
My favorite part is the transparency in the officiating. We get to see the process of how they conclude their verdict on a penalty. Something all sports need to adopt if they aren't being dishonest.
Best part about the new style kickoff in my opinion, I didn't see any block in the back calls, no holding, no penalties. Definitely helped the flow of the game.
Agree with your analysis @flemloraps Added strategy is dope, talent is there & t's so good to see players playing what they love even when they've been passed up by the NFL. Also I could keep betting on football year round.
Hey... great video. I found you from the collaboration you did with Brandon over at That's Good Sports going over the XFL teams. Interested in the XFL for the same reason as everyone else. I miss football too damn much during these off months. I was also really impressed by the quality of play. Not NFL level by any means, but easily the best I've seen from an "alternate" football league (And I had season tickets to an AFL team for several years). Anyway... thanks for the content man. Keep it up!
My favorite part was probably the refs being Mic'd up. I mean to actually hear what these refs are saying, and to hear their call before the announcement is magical. Way better than staring at 3 zebras having a 10 minute convo on the sideline or staring at a screen
Super agree with your point on interviewing the players right after a play. WE don't know a lot of these players. Allow us to get to know you and give us that access to your personality. The reason Rod Smart became a household name was because we all heard him answer the reason why he chose the name He Hate Me. Him giving that answer is what made us all wanna root for him.
I agree with your impressions Lo! I actually got invested in the Defenders already being a DMV dude...like the Redskins as well. On point with your assessment of the production quality and the overall viewing experience...def much better than AAF. Interesting what you said about the sideline interviews as branding opportunities...I thought it was kinda messed up to put a mic in a dude's face after a bad play or on-field tussle but I didn't think of it from the perspective you gave...that makes a lotta sense. In the end, it's all about money and marketing that's gonna keep this league running. I think they have good people in place from what I can tell to be able to do that. Any vehicle for more guys being able to live out their dream and men and women to get coaching and officiating experience deserves our support. To me, another positive is them having 3 out of 8 black head coaches and multiple coordinators...already doing better than the NFL in terms of ratio. As far as the NFL copying something, I could see them maybe moving the kickoff formations closer to each other like XFL has...maybe not with the same rules but just to lessen the impact of the collisions. Bless up bruh!
Get Curt out of there. They need to bring Gus Johnson from the college crews. He's a great upbeat pbp guy that would do well with the fast pace of the xfl.
I didn't see any of the first games. Ran into a friend at the bar who was raving about it excitedly. Watched a bunch of highlights, am very impressed. Will tune in next weekend.
Definitely enjoyed what i saw today. Even little things like each team having their own theme music and every team having their own ball just made this league feel special and fresh. The quality of play was outstanding! That was something that was missing from the AAF. I like the rule changes and the pacing of the game as well. The officials let these guys play! Not a lot of calls, only for fouls that were blatant. The XFL put out a great product and I hope they continue to grow in viewership, revenue, and influence. They are not going to kill the NFL, but goddamn they've created an exciting fresh alternative that is perfect for the offseason.
I was waiting to see your reaction to today’s games can’t wait to go to see the Dallas Renegades tomorrow hope it’s as good as these first 2 games 👌🏻👌🏻 keep up the great content love the channel 💪🏼💪🏼
Better than I expected. Hopefully they can keep going in the right direction. I didn't really care for the kickoffs. Extra point options are really dope. Great video Flem love ya bro.
Good play calling, Good tackling, Nice Pace,Nice Db coverage, no bs penalties, Good quaterback play, Nice kickoff concept, Transparency, Hard hits, Amazing Uniforms, Good attendance. Just good football. My wife loved it.
I really enjoyed the games yesterday and I look forward to watching the other 2 games today. I thought for being the first couple games it was entertaining and there was some real quality playing. Also I was very impressed with the crowds at both games, it looked like a sellout in DC and a pretty big crowd in Houston. I look forward to see what day 2 brings!
Loved the AAF but this was very good yesterday....2 reasons for me. The offenses were much better and the announcers seemed engaged and felt like they wanted to be there....pumped for this league
OG fan, flemlo! I never seem to catch your new posts in time, though 😂 Just wanted to say you're my favorite channel and have been since basically the beginning! Keep grinding, fam! 💪
I agree with everything you said. I really hope this league works out. I enjoyed the game. I'm hoping Seattle can make some good adjustments. I'm from Seattle so I'm hoping they can be a good team. But damn DC was good.
Now, I haven't done any research on this, but if they can snag a streaming platform for their games (That isn't stupid cable-based streams), it will help the league grow even more. A lot of folks don't even have regular cable anymore and rely 100% on streaming. I know I'm definitely looking forward to checking the league out in the future.
The one thing I would like them to do is make the stats more accessible. I found it hard to look at the numbers during the game, and had I been able to look at the physical stats, I would’ve been way more immersed into it.
Bull terrier Molly it’s not that serious. No need to call names. I like the league, it’s just a small criticism. Take that negative energy somewhere else bro✌🏽
CFL pace n tempo was awesome. Leave players n coaches alone during live action, pregame, halftime or post game interviews are fine imo. Kickoffs revive the special teams game and the converts are a fresh change to high risk and high reward scoring.
@@kvngirvng9475 Just like the 49ers CHOKED due to sorry a$$ed coaching? Yup; I can see that. Shanahan pulled a Harbaugh by DUMMYING UP DURING the game by FORGETTING what got them to the BIG dance! That's a really good way to tank games: by DUMMYING UP!!!!
@@MrFootballman52 I was saying the same thing lol. The Defenders are nice lol. That would be crazy if the XFL expands into Bmore. Maybe next year is this season does good.
You know it. Had to hit pause when I went for a piss. When I left the room I missed something great. Very impressed. Some great talent to watch after the Super Bowl hangover.
