I don't remember who said it but someone once said Lamar is "Cam without the attitude" smh Both of them are great and unique players, it's real disrespectful to say Cam is a controversial Lamar or Lamar is Cam without dancing.
The hate that Cam gets blows my mind. Dude literally gives every TD ball he has to childern, does good stuff around his community and they still hate him.
Cam has some friends who live in our neighborhood in the Seattle area. Once while visiting them, he mosied up to the local YMCA where my son and his friend were shooting some hoops, introduced himself to them as Cam, and palled around with them for twenty minutes. No cameras, no fans, no adults around to make a fuss. Just Cam and two little nine year old white boys, one of whom (my son, we don’t own or watch tv) had no idea who he was. Before he left he said to them, “Watch this” and threw a basketball from half court through the hoop. Gave them fist bumps and shakes and left. My son came home and said, “Mom. A nice man named Cam played basketball with us today. My friend says he’s a famous quarterback.” Again, no cameras. Just a good guy being kind to some random kids. Damn folks, a man doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.
Cam is obviously not the player that he used to be no doubt about it. I think hes a legit backup though ppl hate on everyone but with him it seems to be lack of caring and attitude I hear the most hes another Jay Cutler dude like most things probably truth to some of it but not all.
@@_K1Kwan Fam I was a senior in high school the year he played for Blinn. They came and played at our stadium and we got to meet him and watch him play. I knew at that game he was the next one!
Flemlo you are POSITIVELY and exactly what we need more of in our country today! I'm a 51 year old white guy, who is just as lost right now as everyone else is. Keep being part of the solution, you are a perfect black, no human being!
That's what I keep thinking this is the 3rd video I watched and he is very enjoyable i never been a Cam Newton fan but damn after the dudes break down i gain a new perspective of the dude and can't wait to see him succeed in NewEngland...
i really hope he comes back... he worked so hard to win over the locker room and with a full, healthy (hopefully) offseason, new england can reload around him
I've felt that ever since the fumble, that moment has haunted him far more than he lets on. Ever since, he has played with reckless abandon and a complete disregard for his health. Because the last time he cared about getting hurt .... cost him more.
Or because after that MVP run, the panthers literally did nothing to get him protection, gets hit really hard and the NFL wouldn’t give him a roughing the passer call they would normally give other qbs, just because he was bigger and thought he could handle the hits.
@@jamesartemio1312 You guys are so full of shit. Newton doesn't get beat up more than most QBs because of the team around him, he gets beat up because his game is based around him running. And why do you keep acting like that fumble was something special as far as the chance of Cam getting hurt? Fumbles happen multiples times almost every single game, players DIVE for the ball. Quit acting like trying to recover a fumble isn't as routine as it gets in the NFL. Cam just lacks heart. He gave up. The Broncos beat him so badly he just gave up. Tom Brady got beat just as badly by that Broncos defense in the AFC Tittle game and he didn't quit. That's why Brady has 6 SB rings and it's why Cam has zero. HEART.
@@Vichedges Dude, my gosh, let it go. You've been on here since this video came out just trashing Cam for literally no reason. You are a tiny, pathetic, little man, and you need to grow up and move on with your life.
Jason Allen do you understand the scenario and who was around him? How many would’ve dived at that ball? Him and several broncos defense were after that ball and even if he grabbed it he would’ve been rammed he chose his Nfl career over a potential career ending play, And what do you mean he gave up? You know how hard he tried to recover after that superbowl? He kept playing, but injuries happen to football players and unfortunately Newton was bombarded with them, he still kept trying to play with the panthers, he’s been trying to play even when he was being held back by injuries.
Some of my fellow Panthers fans may not want to admit it, but Cam helped bring a huge breath of fresh air to the team after that abysmal 2010 season. It still pisses me off at the thought of how far the team would have gone if our front office had just invested some quality players to protect him on the field. I love my team, but we didn't deserve Cam after all that we did to him.
While a great football player he never protected himself. Cam is a phenomenal athlete though. Injury, and the win or nothing attitude were his downfalls.
@@PizzaHutCEO You must not have been around a lot of Facebook football groups. While it's true that a good portion of Panthers fans and NFL fans either liked Cam or had no issue with him, the other half treated him as if he was the worst thing to ever happen to football.
But we also know that Ron never properly used him. Kid ran a spread fast paced O in college but while he was here it was all power run. Here should've let that man toss it around shortly after his rookie year. Thanks Mike Shula.
You guys should fired rob when he was still playing Newton when he shoulder was hurt that shit was stupid and could’ve be the first step to Newton career been done seeing no team sign him yet because he probably can pass a physical because ron got him fucked up
I see a lot of hate on Ron here, but to be honest, he's still the best coach the Panthers ever had. He turned the franchise around, without either him or Cam. The Panthers don't even get close to go to the Super Bowl.
FlemLo- I just wanted to thank you for making such amazing videos. Very few people possess the ability to seperate actual facts from personal opinions. Most of the time the videos they make always lean toward their own personal bias instead of presenting the factual information and allowing the viewers to arrive at their own conclusion but you do it flawlessly. Im the kind of person who always tries to see things from both sides of any situation so I have mad respect for you for presenting multiple viewpoints in every video you make because alot of people have tunnel vision and will not even entertain any ideas that are not identical to their own. In the entire youtube channels devoted to sports pool, there are so many good channels but you sir have seperated yourself from the pack and solidified your much deserved title as the best sports channel on youtube. I really hope youtube is breaking you off some $$ bro you the best. Keep up the greatness big brother. God bless you
I love the videos bro. You’re doing amazing. I wish it was more ppl like u producing this content. Thank you for being a light amidst all the fog in the world
I’m a die hard panthers and it actually hurt seeing the panthers just force him to leave he was out best qb ever. Yes he was hurt often but he’s in straight grind mode and He’s gonna win wherever he goes.
Xavier Rodriguez fellow bears fan here, why would you want Cam Newton over Nick Foles. Cam Newton is a locker room distraction, while Nick Foles is a Super Bowl MVP, and has never been accused of being a bad teammate.
I straight up don’t even enjoy watching football or keep up with anything, but watching you talk about it makes it sound so interesting. It’s like we can hear the passion in your voice when you talk about this sport.
I really appreciate the work you put into this video. I can't stand how college and NFL teams treat players, when they've got a vastly disproportionate leverage. I came looking for what happened to Cam and you really gave a lot of great context. I recall seeing him with the Panthers just a few years ago making great plays, but watching him with the Patriots he's struggling. I'll be looking for that follow-up video.
@@zackjay71 just cus he speaks his mind.... I don't think that is his down fall. I think it's injuries that's gonna make him call it quits. He frustrated the past 2 yrs not playing an all. He ain't a cancer. Or he would of been benched shortly after the female route runner comment
The dude put the Carolinas on his back, gave them his best years. Took that team to the superbowl with ted ginn as his number 1 WR. But everybody want to say he a bum. Nick foles wasnt shit as a player but got a hot streak and won the superbowl, people forget he has been a journeyman for his career
Shawn Flowers have you not seen the statement from tj ward where he openly said that if cam had dove for that ball he was going straight for his head and he wasn’t the only one. Look it up
Intense people get misunderstood because of the way their expressions of intensity or passion can polarize. You do a great job of filling in the background here. Thanks; you and your hard work appreciated.
@@hova5500 True, but when Cam was obviously injured, they kept putting him on the field. When you have a shoulder injury that's so bad that you routinely throw the ball into the turf WHILE trying to hit an open receiver, that's a problem.
Man, I really dig your videos and the perspective/mindset you come to each story with. The way I know your real is because once or twice a video you throw out "yeah I don't get it that was a bad play" Keep it up, man!
Malcolm N. Uhhhhhh they actually weren’t that bad last year if you have the same results when your starting qbs not playing that’s not a good thing. That was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read you’re not expected to win almost as many games with your rookie back up 5th rounder than your 10 year 1st overall pick bet under center how the fuck does that make any sense?
They’re gonna be way better with Bridgewater. Allen won 5 of his 12 starts if cams so good he should’ve won at least 9 games the last season he was healthy.
Last two seasons cam is 6-10 in games started and Kyle Allen is 6-7. He got outplayed by his backup. Bridgewater blows them both out of the water at this point in their careers.
Can never learn how to play the position he had trouble reading defence his head coach did the read option with him with wr run rounds he only read half the field
I have seen this video MULTIPLE times, I'm with you flemlo, cam is my dude. Since college I have loved me some Cam. He is one of my all time favorite players. Love watching him play, win or lose. Keep up the channel bro, love the content! Keep it pushin!
bobby colley I’m not saying he is good or bad idc I’m telling people to not listen to what others say about yourself because at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what others say. Once the day comes around that you give up on yourself is the day when your dream or whatever will end
I've been on a tear watching your old videos about players whom I respect and have enjoyed watching over the years; I appreciate your background of folks, the drama is crazy from vidya to vidya.
I’ve always liked Cam, he always played with a smile. And during his MVP season he played some of the most fun football I’ve ever seen. I think a lot of people who don’t like him are more in the media.
mjay I mean I maybe, but Randall Cunningham was totally beloved, and Michael Vick is still really popular despite his personal demons with a lot of fans.
I’ve been a panthers fan since I was 2 and this offseason was by far the worst thing that’s ever happend to the panthers. Players who left:Greg Olsen Luke kuechly cam Andrew norwell those are most of our best players so I’m sad
I liked his brothers a lot more. Funny how when Casey and Rick were at UT the hype around Jimmy. And the kid was okay at Norte Dame. But he was supposed to be this generational talent. Just didn't happen for the kid.
I’ve never really had any beef with cam. He’s a great QB and honestly I think he’s funny af. My favorite moment of him is when he called out Clay Mathews on the “wheel route”. You keep fighting Cam, your career ain’t over yet
This guy "FlemLo " is a really talented, dope young brother. Us :"golden era" hip hop old heads always talk about the younger generation, but there are a lot of kids out there doing their thing. Salute.
@C J why would you care enough to comment? 2 "slang" words (dope and old head) are excessive? Which words were "fake". Out of all the comments on RU-vid you chose to pull our your Pedantic Grammar Police badge out on me? I have a mental picture of what you look like, and what your life is like....I wonder how far off I am. Peace and love. Stay safe.
@C J Huh? hahahahahha Awwwww you are so cute. Look what you do for attention. Did I say know what you look like? I deserve this for reading RU-vid comments. Extra hugs and kisses my friend. I hope you fill that gaping hole in your heart with love and compassion. Warmth and love. Extra hugs for you.
@C J I told you I have a mental picture of what you look like and how you are. i have to admit that I'm turned on. This prolonged tête-à-tête of ours has really been great.
C J There is so much unnecessary information in the way you phrase that. Its the same message, but somehow your way sounds like a shitty essay. Chill out. Stop applying your weird grammar standards to RU-vid comments lol. It’s meant to be informal it’s not like he spelled anything incorrectly and since his comment was short it got the point across fine. You’re being negative for no reason.
Seeing/evaluating different perspectives and opinions with empathy is almost impossible to find within people nowadays and especially RU-vidrs, I love watching your videos. Very factual, prestigious intellect and a unbiased approach.🙌🐐
I feel for Cam a lot. He came from one of those fathers that essentially forced you into sports in order to live out their dreams through their kids. According to Cam back in 2013: "...I could count all the times on one hand where I could sleep in, have a bowl of cereal, watch Saturday Morning cartoons without my dad walking in and saying, 'Alright son, time to practice.'" With that type of upbringing, being overly emotional on the field makes sense because it is literally all he knows.
Let''s not forget the time that he ran away from a fumble with the SB on the line instead of diving for it. You know....because he was afraid his leg might get "contorted" lol? Or how about the time he said "if you don't like me dancing, stop me from scoring". Well, he sure hasn't done much dancing lately. 0-8 in his last 8 starts too....which is why he's no longer a Panther.
Man, late I know, but you should do an update on Cam. He's (in my case) by far may favorite player too, and this season was such a disappointment. I fear that for whatever reason his remaining time in the league will not be as fun, exciting or successful as his early potential and success shows it could be. Edit: PS - Forgot to mention I love your work, I'm a new sub and have been binging on this channel for the last week. Really great job with your channel.
As much as I love Cam he reportedly wanted a 5 year extension and refused a 2 year extension. 2 years was better than he had earned with his current injury history. I really wish he would’ve taken the contract.
He made a commercial that year saying "too bad they don't make bandaids for feelings".... if he's going to rub his success in everybody's face like that, he's going to have to take it when he fails.
Marsahwn lynch never talked how the media wanted him to. And they played at the same time almost. This shows the difference between quarterbacks and the rest of the players on the team
Well, the thing for me was the flash. Cam newton did the flash and he did the talk....when he won. When he didn't though....he couldn't take it. Marshawn wasn't as vocal in his trash talk. He just put in work and let it show on the field. Marshawn made it clear, all he wanted to do was play football and eat skittles. Cam Newton liked to talk trash and be in the spot light...Then you he would lose and act childish in interviews. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning would stand there like men and take the licking from the media so their teammates didn't have to.
David Flores did you know Peyton Manning loss to Drew Brees and the Saints in the Super Bowl. Well to make this comment short he didn’t shake Drew Brees hand or any Saints player after the game.
@@seanscott4880 True, but I wouldn't shake that teams hand either. That was the bounty gate year as well. Absolute horrible team. Especially on how they did my boy Brett Favre.
Starting to see your vids pop up more and more, you do a fantastic job. Keep up the good work, it's quality should be getting you more opportunities soon.
Man everyone of my friends looked up to him when I was little.Everyone wanted Carolina to win the Super Bowl.I was the only one who wanted Denver to win.Mainly because I’m from Tennessee and Peyton played for my vols. Before Patrick Mahomes it was Cam.
I stumbled on your stuff bro. Played high school and was recruited in the 90s so...lol. Nostalgia s***.... I love your approach to your Channel. Scribed for sure... I told my brother and like three other people about your channel they were already hip to it... LOL... I watch probably watch 40 episodes in a row give or take a few
“God Dammn” - Noob Noob Flemlo, your videos are truly some of the best in YT. The way you brought forth an empathy perspective regarding the criticism from one journalist was really inspiring. You don’t hold back on trying to look at things from different perspectives. Then, enough can’t be said about the structure of your videos and how articulate you come across. I look forward to your videos as many can attest to. Continue doing the tremendous work and best wishes to you and your fam in these crazy times. -D As A Charger fan, I truly hope they pick him up like you said. Hopefully, they really don’t repeat the same same mistakes Carolina did to him should they move forward with acquiring him.
Bryan Regus bruh I’m a panthers fan and cam hasn’t done anything else for the team on the field since the super bowl, hopefully he’ll shine somewhere else but the top dogs of panthers want change, and not doing bad at all with this rebuild we’re doing, it’s a business at the end of the day no strings attached
Bryan Regus As a Die hard Panthers fan I gotta agree because We are in Rebuild mode. And we need Cam he may be a person he may get Injured a lot that is why he did not Dive in that football I know that this has nothing to do of what I’m saying but he can be a good Quarterback for Rebuilding we have freakin Teddy Bridgewater like he is not the best quarterback Cam was not either but he was better.
Honestly if you look at the viewer ratings before and after Newton was drafted, you can see he alone brought more people with the newer generation to tune in. NFL really should have a private discussion with him and thank him. The dab, Superman and all the celebrations made the NFL fun again. And I'm a die-hard packers fan so no biased there, just the stats. Glad to see someone else put some respek on the man's name. Great video!
Cam made so good plays in 2015 but I remember luke getting two ints for touchdowns during the playoffs and the defense leading the league in sacks and turnovers. Cam is trash all style no substance
Hey flemlo i just wanted to let you know.that you are phenomenal at what you do..i really like it cuz you have made me like some players that i didn't..great intell!!!
Great video. I was somebody that was out on Cam after the SB and was ready to write him off... I’m tossing that thought process out rn. Cam is a WARRIOR and he has a great story, Cam will show the world he can still be great!
Loved this video bro. I feel like you checked all the boxes. Loved that you included that Chris Harris thing. And the hot start in 2018. It's three years after this video and we see that sadly, Cam's story turned into what I deem to be almost a tragedy. Not really, because he had those high highs, and as an obvious Carilina Panthers fan, I'm so grateful for his tenure with our team. I cherish that 2015 season and even the 2017 season. We had so much hope going forward after the Super Bowl, man. The team was stacked with talent on both sides and it looked like Cam had ascended with his throwing and mental game too. But like you said, the league didn't protect him and the O-line wasn't the same as in '15. Now, you damn sure can't lay those hits on QB's. But that's why I say at least from our fanbase's viewpoint, it is a tragedy that Cam couldn't keep healthy enough to see that improved passing in '18 come to fruition. Not to mention Luke's early retirement man, that hurt so much....I'd also mention that people that dog on Cam's MVP year, mainly because of the one blemish - the completion percentage...Cam could've had a 65% completion for the year, (and at least another 3-5 TD's) if not for drops and also more importantly, not for two straight games midseason in Tampa Bay and the Monday night game against the Colts in Carolina where it was absolutely pouring with record-setting rainfall for that year. I've watched the games; Cam was playing at an elite completion percentage. Dude was nailing receivers with passes. Anyway, sorry to be long-winded but again, thank you for the video. He was an enigmatic teammate with a huge personality coupled by the brightest, Magic-type smile we haven't seen in a long time, all while being as ATL as it gets, which I loved while he was playing. I have a couple old Panthers videos on IG archived from the Cam days of him in practice I could send you if you want. They always make me smile and got me so hype back then, and they epitomize all the things you talked about in the video.
When Cam was drafted 1st overall, I was on that boat, “This guy isn’t equipped mentally to play.” Cam won me over throughout his career, I’m hoping Cam signs with either the Chargers/Patriots soon.
Bruh, I posted a comment on this video, but after I watched the entire video, I had to edit it. This is an amazing video. The way you navigate the different measuring stick used for Cam without overtly addressing the underlying reasons and staying on course is masterful. He real isn't as misunderstood as he is portrayed.
I saw so much more passion in this video than others. Definitely sucked me in and I’m not even a football head. Nice video and thanks for all the research done to share :)
