I’m still amazed that we read the gospel of John for the Octave of Easter - thank you for this Bible in a year and catechism in a year - it has been something I look forward to every day - thank you, God bless you and I’m praying for all of you and Fr Mike too😊❤️🙏
I have gotten so much out of listening to the Bible readings, but I think the most important part is Father Mike's explaination of it all. The way he ties it all together and also ties it into our lives in the current day is so powerful and enlightening. Thank you Father Mike!
Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, and all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts and transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear and understand the word of God in the Scriptures that we may revere and treasure both the Old and the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness and humility, and with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students and faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull and may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

this is my second time going through the Bible in a Year. I am praying a decade of my rosary for all involved in created this and for all who are listening.
I wish you a blessed Easter father and thank you very much for all that you do for us for the prayers that you pray for us and I’m sure that we are all praying for you and there was a reading the other night Hebrews 1312 to 15 it brought another openness to my eyes and my heart on Jesus Christ my father Ayah it’s stuck in my head and it’s still stuck in my head thank you again father for all that you do bless each and everyone of us that are involved in the Bible study God bless
At church today it was very much about lifting the name of Jesus, in light of the Israel situation escalating, and the stabbing in Australia, apart from some of the horror stories here in England. Somebody prayed and she mentioned diamonds, a diamond taken from the rough, when cut and polished turns into a thing of beauty. Running with that theme I have just looked up about the worlds largest diamond it is called the Cullinan, named after Thomas Cullinan. Cullinan is an Irish name and it means good looking boy/handsome. My next thought was that Jesus is that Cullinan diamond, every facet of his life radiated light beauty and excellency. Thomas means twin, you and me, we do not compare to him, but we can let his word shape and polish us, if we choose to partner with him 😇
I love hearing the scripture read! It's great to learn from the interpertation of the text at the end of the reading. I cannot tell you how helpful this is to me. I am a convert from protestantism to catholicism, who had read the scripture several times, and sections many times during my biblical studies program and M. Divinity. Your explination has deepen my understanding, at times confirming my discernment, and at times convicting me of sin. Thanks for the help to grown in the faith!
Jesus is the new Passover, the NewTestament , the Sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. A BLESSED and JOYFUL EASTER to Everyone.
Thank you Father Mike for sharing the bible with all of us and helping us understand, relate and bring us closer to God. Praying for Father Mike and Everyone
As a kid I often wondered what horrible thing people could do to believe that there is no redemption. I am now in that spot of feeling disqualified. This reading has helped me.
Thank God for Psalm 55. I greatly needed this in my life. Someone I once called brother betrayed me and my family in such a way that I have been tormented in the most toxic, cancerous hatred for over a year. To such a point I've prayed for justice to be brought down on him. It's been my greatest challenge as a Christian. Pray for me friends to find peace and forgiveness and find my satisfaction in the righteousness of God, and not in my own hateful heart.
Thank you Father. My phase in watching your videos always fit my current situation. Thank you for the reassurance that my sins are forgiven but I have to be faithful to God for not doing His will. God bless
1 Samuel 11 shows Nahash the Ammonite giving an ultimatum forcing the city of Jabesh Gilead to make a covenant with them and to serve the Ammonites. The elders of Jabesh send messengers across Israel in search of someone to save them from the Ammonites. Saul hears of their plight and gathers an army to defend them. The army conquers the Ammonites and Saul has mercy on the scattered survivors, proclaiming that this is Lord's Salvation. The Israelites celebrate Saul as their new king. 1 Samuel 12 shows Samuel's speech at the coronation of King Saul. Samuel discusses how his prophecies have come true and how he has served Israel since childhood. Israel recognizes his loyalty. Samuel tells them of the Old Covenant and the period of Judges and warns them never to forsake the Lord. Similar to Moses in Deuteronomy, Samuel presents the Israelite with a choice to either fear God or to forsake Him. Samuel asks God for a sign and God sends thunder and rain so the people fear God. Israel recognizes that desiring a king was a sin in itself. Samuel tells them it is never too late to be righteous and to walk with the Lord. Psalm 55 is a Contemplation of David. David prays to the Lord and laments the misery of oppression. He laments that he is overwhelmed with fear of man. He asks the Lord to destroy the wicked. He laments on the treachery of a friend's betrayal and asks god to enact Justice on the traitors. In spite of the enemy's attacks, David is confident the Lord will save him. Day 107 - 4/17/2022 (Easter 2022)
I am enjoying your reading of the Bible and your explanations and your prayers, Father Mike. I tried many times to get the podcast by I can’t find it. So all I can do is go to the RU-vid and search for each day’s reading . But anyway, thanks so very much for your readings , explanations and prayers ! I am praying for you and all, thanks for your prayers for me and all of us.
I love doing this on RU-vid because I can hear the words and read them at the same time, and it helps me to understand. But I still need Father Mike to explain it for me! Praying for you all.
Father in heaven, we do trust in you. We give you thanks, Lord God, even in the midst of not just enemies but friends who have failed us, friends who have betrayed us. Even in the midst of love that has run out, people who have promised, made covenants to us and promises to us and then have failed to live up to those promises, have broken those covenants, we know that you are faithful and you love us and you fight for us and yo never break your promise and you never break a covenant. And so we give you thanks. You delight in us us and you love us and you choose us and you sustain us. And so we thank you and we love you back. Help us to receive your love more and more this day and every day. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen †
Thank you father for your readings, it is such a help every time I tri d to read the Bible I needed explanations. Have told many about your readings, Bless you
Day 107..4/15/24 Samuel gives the Israelite's successes and failures to let them know, to fear the Lord and his commandments, otherwise calamities will be upon them.. But I call upon God; and the Lord will save me. He will deliver my soul in safety from the battle that I wage, for many are arrayed against me. Cast your burdens on the Lord, and he will sustain you..such beautiful words, may all of us learn to live like this! Prayers for Father Mike and all the BIY family 🙏❤
When we ask God for someTHING He gives the second third or fourth best plan for us. When we ask God for God, He gives us His top plan for us. All have struggle but different qualities of results. He's trying to show us He IS the best thing. ✨✨✨✨😑✨✨✨✨*Absorbing* God give me the grace to want You more than all the things I want. Amen🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️💫💫💫✨✨✨
Praise be to God! 🙏🏼 And yes!, Thank You Lord for such a wonderful gift through Father Mike. It is Your will that he turns me upside down (so much revelations from within) during this biay journey. Your words Lord delivered for such clarity and pure love. 💖🙏🏼
I have learned so much from listening to your podcasts here, Father Mike. The connections which you make between the old and new covenants are amazing. I never before realized so clearly how the Old Testament truly foreshadows the coming of Christ who ushers in the new! The Mass makes so much more sense to me now than ever before. Thank you so much. I will continue to pray daily for you and for all of us who are journeying together.
Thank you so much for these podcasts. My second time through. I appreciate your expression and detail, making the Bible come to life to me. My prayers are with you, Father Mike. Also following Catechism In A Year making the teachings of the church real to me. As a revert, I appreciate what you are doing.
Today , God spoke to me about moving on, moving forward, for I have sinned greatly and was despairing that with so much of sins , I will never be forgiven but when Fr Mike spoke the words towards the end, it struck me and I felt that God was addressing me, He said move on, I have forgiven you. I took it has a personal message for me. Thank you Abba Father thank you. Thank you Fr Mike.
Thank you, Father Mike for sharing the lights and treasures that the Three-in-One has given you. Looking through the readings with your lights is a lamp that brings so much hope to a sinner like me. I pray that I am always faithful to the Lord, with God's help of course, and do only His will and what is pleasing to Him. Help me to decrease so you will most deservedly increase. Lord, I love you, help me to love you more, help me to be always faithful. Lord, we give you praise and glory and thanks for sending us and inspiring Fr. Mike to guide us through the Bible. Thank you also for inspiring Jeff Cavins. Their hearts are full of your Spirit. Please, please watch over them and keep them faithful to your Word and will. Please watch over our Bible-in-a-Year community to be faithful to your word and help us complete it to the 365 day. Amen.
Lord, You are merciful. Thank you for being patient with us and not disqualifying us from being your sons and daughters when we choose the wrong things. Soften our hearts so that we desire to be faithful to you above anything else. Teach us what it means to be good leaders and friends that we may show restraint when we are hurt. Help us to forgive. Open our eyes to your perfect plan so that we may never settle for anything less. 🙏🏻
Fr. Mike. After you do the catechism in a year you should do "the Mass in a Year'.' And explain all the parts of the Mass, traditions and who knows what else about it.
Just so you all know, I have started listening to BIAY on the podcast app because there are no bothersome ads. XD I’m not stopping! So bye for now. :,(
In the section of "Day 107: Samuel's Speech - The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)", Father Mike Schmitz discusses the biblical account of Saul in chapters 11 and 12. He highlights Saul's incredible leadership skills, as seen in his ability to unite the people and lead them to victory. However, he emphasizes that despite Saul's success, God's will was not for him to be king. This lesson reminds us that human leaders, no matter how skilled they may be, are ultimately subject to God's will and desire for His people. Fr. Mike also discusses the theme of God's plan versus human plan. Using examples from the Bible, such as Joshua, Judges, and the Battle Covenant, he shows that God allows things to happen, even if they are not what He originally intended. He encourages us to aim for the heights of God's original plan, while acknowledging that we have made mistakes. Overall, the speaker emphasizes the importance of prayer, seeking God's grace, and serving as virtuous people.
Another great lesson Father Mike. I am praying for you and all who are participating! Please consider listening to the Marian Press Podcast of Saint Faustina’s Diary in a Year, about 6-8 minutes a day. You will not regret it! Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. They cannot pray for themselves and rely on our prayers. Match 16, 2022
God bless and keep you, Father Mike, for showing us how merciful, faithful God is! No matter what we do, God does not leave us and still provide what we need as long as we remain faithful to God! Thanks be to God in Jesus’ name!
Thank you so much for this beautiful explanation dear Fr. Mike. It's a fantastic example of God letting things happenning that are not necessarily His Will, but because our stubborness, He let them happen. Even Our Lord Jesus said it, because of our stubborness. Thank you!!! God bless!!!
Wow. I didn't know it was a sin against God not to pray for someone. I try to pray immediately for a person who asks but you've been asking for prayers all along Fr Mike and haven't always prayed for you. I mean I'm happy for all the great videos but I'm sinning against God not to pray for you. Because I love God I will pray for you more diligently.
Thanks Fr. Mike for great teaching on Samuel and Saul + the part they play in our lives + the great love of God for all his family despite our errant ways. Easter blessings to all.
Thank you Fr Mike. I so look forward to hearing this every day and can relate to what's being said. Thank you for your explanations as without them I would probably have given up. Praying for you and everyone here. God bless 🙏 ❤️ 🙏
An amazing episode that shows Saul’s best characteristics. He showed bravery, critical thinking, planning, leadership, and mercy. He led people to battle instead of giving up on them or forsaking the call that God wanted him to make. Samuel also reminds people that God never wanted to leave people in the hands of flawed human kings but wanted to lead people Himself similar to how He led Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. However, God simply allows things to happen if we harden our hearts and just want what we want instead of what God wants. Even after that, God is merciful and helps us and doesn’t forsake us. God also wants us to repent after sinning and also promise that we will not sin anymore. Jesus said the same. Jesus healed and then told people to sin no more. We must also remember that people may betray us and people may change but God never changes His good nature and God never betrays even if things seem to be against us, like they were for Saul, David, Job, Mother Mary, Peter, Jesus, and St. Paul. We must believe and trust in God and Jesus. Thank you, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension! God bless you and fellow listeners. Praying for the good health and happiness for all.
You’ve probably heard this thousands of times, Fr. mike, but I am learning so much with this podcast. Thank you so much for making it happen, and for making everything interesting and relatable to our present loves.
Thank you Father Mike for you interpretation of the word of to make it more understandable to us. Praying for you and all priest that they may teach as Jesus taught, love as Jesus love. Please pray for my brokenness.
