Fr. Mike uses the readings today to ask the question, how can we love the Lord joyfully, and with our whole hearts? In scripture today we see David succeed in this, while his son Solomon is divided in his love of God. Fr. Mike also explains why David was seeking his own power when taking the census in 2 Samuel, and how he fell subject to the evil one's tempting. Today's readings are 2 Samuel 24, 1 Chronicles 29, and Psalm 30.

12:24 Father in heaven, we need to give you thanks. We give you praise. It is true. It is true that weeping may last for the entire night. Weeping may last for an entire season. Weeping may last for so long, but joy truly does come with the morning. Joy truly does come with the rising of the sun. And joy comes even in the midst of grief with the rising of your son, Jesus Christ. O God, we know that we are faithful to you when it suits us. Help us to be faithful to you at all times. We are faithful to you in good seasons and we ask you to please help us be faithful to you in all seasons. We make this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen. †

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. Day 142 - Tuesday May 21st, 2024 Thank You Lord God for all Your love, patience , protections and blessings towards me a sinner. I am sorry for all the evil things I did which I did not know they were pure evil. especially my sin from March 1997 and March 1999. Thank You O Lord God for helping me to see the RAW UNFILTERED TRUTH at the end of the day. I think the reason why it took me so long to see and recognized the truth is because I was not ready for it. You revealed the truth to me little by little. Now, I can see clearly. I was partially blind, spiritually speaking, in my younger years. Help me O Lord God with the whole conversion of my entire family, friends, especially my daughter and son. Deo gratias. Yes you are. When in doubt - search "what is today's Julian date May 21, 2024". You should get something like, "24142" First two number is the year, next three numbers is the date. Today is the 142nd day of 2024. Jan 1 is always day 001, or day 1. 5/21/2024

As a breadwinner, it really is hard to support a family that asks for more than what you are willing to give. you don't want to give with resentment but it leads you to feeling that way for making the financial support as 'obligatory' and not 'voluntary'.

I have been working my faith back to the Catholic Church. I can’t help but be truly afraid that God will test me again. I lost my second son and my husband, and I was angry and blamed God. I have been coming back, but I am so afraid that He will test my faith again. I am thankful for the blessings He has given me but I am so afraid the Lord will test me again. I am not Job. I want to believe that my God only will give me future blessings. I am trying so hard. I’m ashamed that at times I am truly afraid. I feel that I shouldn’t be afraid. That my love and faith should be always be. no matter what. I should not be afraid

Hi! I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your second son and your husband. God knows you. He knows your heart and your intentions. 1 Peter 5:7 is such a great verse. We can hand over our fear, anxiety, anger, sins, and everything to Our Lord and Savior. I struggle with this myself, as I don’t fully trust in Him sometimes. Know that God will not forsake or abandon us. He cares about us and desires us. He is Our Father, the best Father and Dad. I hope you find peace, rest, and comfort in Our Lord and the fact that He loves you and created you! May God bless and keep you, your family, and your friends! ❤

Just want to Thank Fr Mike. Today I read and listened the second time once this morning and tonight. What was being read and seeing the script was so great. I went to the actual podcast to check it out but then went back to youtube with the script what a difference seeing and hearing the scripture athe same time. Thank you dear Fr. Another example that we shouldn't use the Word of God literally but analyzing the context, time it was written and even the author or possible authors of a particular book. In this case we find two opposites so I guess it has to do a lot with all of those things. Nevertheless I'll hear it again becuase it was a little hard to understand. Thank you dear Fr. What's crazy is that God punished everyone because of David's ego stroke. Was it because they knew of the census and didn't rebuke David? But...that doesn't seem so because God asked David which of the three punishments to endure and ended the punishments after David's seemingly personal sacrifice offering rather than all people sacrificing. Does that mean I can be scourged for another's sin and released by their repentance? Seems so unfair especially if I don't know about their sin. But that is another matter of faith I suppose. I recall there being said that the punishments of the crimes of the father are not to be visited on the children. If that's God's direction then it must be His practice atleast spiritually, not so much materially like second hand smoke damage.

The old saying, “sins of the father are visited upon the son.” Most think this is not so, but all our sins might cause grief or pain to another without us realizing it. Ponder that for a while.

I believe that ‘generational sin’ is a real thing. I have a video of a priest where he prays over the viewer to rid us of it, and I tried to attach it to my response- but it wasn’t allowed it seems. 🙏🥰

In 2 Samuel 24, the owner of the threshing floor is named as “Araunah” while in 1 Chronicles 21, the owner is named as “Ornan”. Can someone help me understand if it is the same person? This is what I found from Wikipedia: Biblical scholars believe that Araunah is not a personal name but a title meaning the lord in Hurrian and other eastern languages and that Araunah could have been the Jebusite king of Jerusalem at the time.

I'm confused on 2 Chr 29:1 versus 1 Chr 24:1 still, Father Mike, when I say the Our Father , the Lord's prayer He taught us: "and lead us not into temptation..." . If God never tempts, why did Jesus ask us to pray to God asking Him to not lead us into temptation? Is it a translation issue? Perhaps thanking God for not leading us into temptation?

@@majorair1Agreed!! "Lead us not into" means to "lead us away from". It is we who are going towards temptation and we are praying that The Lord leads us away from it.
