You relate with me so much rn - you're my hero! Working code *_and_* living the life of a night shifter. Rarely do ppl understand what that life is like until they've lived it - living our lives *_opposite_* of the daytime/regular business hrs ppl. Sometimes, I do wonder though - how did our parents/previous generations do it _before_ 24-hour supermarkets, superstores, ATMs, etc. Even still, there are still something's that need to be done in the daytime, and having to disrupt your regular sleep schedule around it is so painful sometimes. And if you're on-call and happen to get called in that night, or your normal day off, well... *_damn!_*

Hi Violin MD, my name is Tom. I moved to America 3 years ago and I am deeply in love with being a doctor. But whenever I come up with the idea of attending to Med School, a lot of people (in my family also) seemly disagree about that, they told me the Language barrier is a huge problem when you immigrate from a country that English is their second language. I am trying to ignore them but I can't ignore my parents, they ask me not to take a risk because they need something to be steady in the future. I am a pre-med college student in Seattle, Washington and I am studying for my MCATS, I found your channel 3 months ago and you inspire me. Thank you for doing all this things. Sometimes, I feel really lost and I go to your channel, specifically, the "How to manage your stress as a doctor" video. I like it a lot, you taught me a lot of things from that. What you have done, partially, changed my life. Thank you so much.

This is going to sound sappy, but as somebody with medical problems I would be honored to have a doctor like you. There are less doctors like you everyday and it is a shame. For the past six years I have had medical problems consistently and have seen a countless amount of doctors and I have had good ones, but I have also had some of the worst doctors that med school could produce. Even if they are amazing with medicine they were awful with their patient and their bedside manner. Some didn’t care about the patient, some didn’t care about the medicine and worse at least one of them didn’t care about either one. Keep up the good work. Your patients are incredibly lucky to have a doctor like you.

Do you refer to a log of diseases ? Or do you know a lot of them by heart ? That’s been intriguing me!

A lot of it gets committed to memory from seeing different variations and symptoms of diseases I think - references are used sometimes too

I’m so glad you did a full exam of that patient and checked for acute angle closure glaucoma. My mom lost part of her sight from the condition because a doctor didn’t do a thorough check when she went into the ER for severe migraines.

I'm a nurse, and when I hear a code blue on my unit (or a co-worker screams to call "Code Blue") I already feel my heart racing and the adrenaline kicking in. But I really only expect to help with grabbing the code cart or performing compressions or recording, or paging doctors or putting out phone calls, attempt IVs, grab supplies etc, never to lead...Code providers (MD/APN) I admire so much because they walk into the room not knowing how they'll find the patient. They're expected to LEAD and direct the code and get the family on the phone (and patient's main attending/other providers on board such as cardio or renal) without even knowing the patient's past medical or surgical history in detail 😱 And getting anesthesia to come intubate, or putting in emergency central lines. Props to you Violin, the fact that you're able to walk in so calmly probably brings a lot of relief to the rest of the staff assisting in the code:D

Im a pediatric respiratory therapist and one of my nicu babies decided to brady/desat on us and we called the code and she came right back up with bagging and she was just looking around at everyone at her bedside and enjoying the extra attention she got haha

currently in college for my masters degree in OT. i love when you mention the profession and how you collaborate! You really opened up possibilities for me as far as which setting I would like to be in long term. I currently work in a nursing home and I absolutely love my residents and working with the elderly, but I think that the way the therapy department is closed off from the other departments would get frustrating. I love how you emphasize the teamwork involved in inpatient care and give us a really good look into a shift. Thank you!

I’m extremely fascinated in being a trauma surgeon (I’m only 12 years old) I don’t get very queasy at the sight of blood and things that would freak out a normal person, I have watched countless surgeries, along with things about medical codes, etc. But seeing how you along with your fellow coworkers work through out the day, it makes me a bit nervous! But I’m so thankful there are people like you that actually show what actually goes on inside the hospital!

I’m 16 and currently want to become a registered nurse in adult nursing. I am the same I don’t get sick around blood or anything and I love an adrenaline boost. I also want to become part of the crash team (a code blue team in America and Canada) and I only have 2 years to go. Good luck 🤞

I was born with Spina Bifida and spent my childhood in and out of hospitals. I really like watching your videos because it helps me understand what a medical student deals with day-to-day. I've always liked working with med/nursing students, but I think I'm going to enjoy it even more now, because I have learned enough from your videos to be able to ask questions about where they are in their program, what specialty they want to focus on, and other things that will make our conversations a lot more interesting.
