i love her positivity, enthusiasm and happiness. in a place where you have a lot of sick people around you and they’re probably stressed and worried about what’s going on with their health, you have to know how to manage to be on that mood to pass this feeling to the patients. i wish all the success!

Violin MD hello I'm Robert I'm from Australia I'm in my second year as a surgical resident, how did you find ICU ? How does your rotations work over there when you graduate do you get a choice or is it all assigned to you ? You have a beautiful personality to be a doctor in anaesthetic medicine.

I spent something like 22 days in ICU last year after a traumatic brain injury and it was there I seen all the crazy medical instruments and all the drs and nurses and “residents” as I guess they’re called! My family was told I would most likely remember nothing of the ICU since the injury was so severe, but once I woke up on day 18 I was pretty much good! And that’s where my love and passion for the medical field started, with the severity of my tbi and facial surgeries a got to under go a lot of really interesting medical procedures and was able to talk to all of my drs and surgeons about each surgery, something I was completely taken by, how great I was treated and and how freaking awesome a good surgeon/nurse is! The surgeons to me did the cooler stuff but the nurses kept me comfortable and sane all while providing top medical care tending to my many incisions/ wounds, keeping me clean and fed while I was unable to move, sometimes actually running around the clock to keep my IV’s flowing with the meds I needed to survive (something my mother will never forget, watching a nurse run basically her entire shift, trying to keep up with my IV bags, as I had (8?) going at once so as soon as soon as she would get back with the meds another bag would run out and she would be off again!) so since I was coming back to consciousness I quickly caught on to how hard these people were working to treat me and like I said before I was completely taken by these actions of others, so much so that I’m proud to say, for one, that I’m even able to write this! And then two, I have completed nursing assistant classes and I will be starting my career in the medical field hopefully within this month! I plan to work as a CNA for a year or so to get my “footing” for what I’m doing, and then I plan on going back to school to become a RN, or maybe a trauma surgeon of some type? Idk I still have a lot to learn and plenty of time to do that, and I’m taking my second chance at life to do everything I’ve ever wanted to do and also become the best version of myself, something I wish I did the first time around but I’m grateful every day that I’m here, and knowing that just 9 months ago I was having my final arrangements planned out for the worst case scenario, makes even life’s lowest lows just a little bit easier for me to handle! Since I feel like “I’m not even supposed to be here, so I’m just happy to be experiencing anything really” thank you for posting this video it was a such a great reminder of my time at my beloved hospital and it also helped me get a better shot of what actually went down while I was sleeping and coughing out my breathing tubes! Lol thank you @violinMD ❤️

I have been in the ICU for 10 months. I have appendicitis, dance and a baby in my stomach! I have been intubated multiple time and I am curly on life support. I have also been the one to have a code blue. I have had heart surgery to, during my 10 months. I have had many other surgeries too, during this time. One of the surgeries has been to remove my appendix, which is when it burst. So now I also have blood poising. I have cancer, and can not get the treatment I need as I am pregnant. I am on many medications and I have many, many tubes in me. Most of the medications I am on I am allergic to, but I have to be on them or I will die. One like will wish me and my baby to get out of the ICU quickly!

Thank you so much for making these, I am a nurse-midwife student from finland, going into my surgery placement. I appreciate these so much as I tend to be very nervous around anything new and your videos normalize the situation for me, so I can actually behave in the way that is required of me instead of panicing in the corner having a vasovagal episode. Thank you so much again and please keep making content

This was very difficult for me to watch. 2 years ago I developed very severe OHSS from an IVF cycle. I was in the ICU for 2 weeks, I went into kidney failure, I had 27L of fluid drained from my abdomen, both lungs and from around my heart. I’m forever thankful for the team of nurses and doctors that worked round the clock to keep me alive. It was the scariest time in my life, but also for my family that had to watch me so ill. I pray for everyone in the ICU, their families and the team that care for them. Thank you.

It can get pretty busy and pretty hectic in the iCU for sure. I'm glad you do these videos - its great to show others what it's like in the different wards and units at the Juravinski Hospital (my second home). It's also great to see some familiar faces! Oh man, I love how many different specialities and perspectives (EDIT: "professions" is the word I'm looking for...) you folks include in your ICU rounds. Pharmacists on a hospital ward are still a rare sight in my country and I doubt that the university hospital I'm studying at has enough dietitians on staff to regularly send them on rounds. I really hope that this will change in the future - even as a medical student I already notice how easy it is to just focus on the aspects of medical care you're familiar with, while totally loosing sight of the many other important parts.

Omg I fell in love with you the first video I saw. I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital because I’ve looked up to most of my family who worked in hospitals either as nurses or doctors etc. it’s amazing to see someone who shares what being a doctor is like and the different scenarios that you may occur. It’s also fun to see that you play the violin which I also play and I’m getting ok at it. In my high school there are different classes you can take based off what you want to do. There is actually lots of courses where you can go into nursing/doctoring. I know I need to do more research about which kind of doctor I want to be but I think it’s pretty cool that you do this.

Pretty cool video. I will be having a cardiac catheterization to put a new heart valve in which I was born without a pumpulary valve. It is scheduled for April 6th. Don't need to worry about the ventilator at all. Will be in the ICU as well at Children's Hospital in Detroit Mi USA.

The tubing that she got from the cabinet at 4:30 is a Salem sump tube used for gastric drainage. Other supplies that she got also was a BD 60-ml catheter tip syringe, lubricating jelly, and adhesive tape (to secure the tube).

In the US, the bedside nurses are the ones trained on insertion of enteral tubes (both drainage ones like shown in the video, and those that enter the duodenum and are used to provide nutrition). Interesting to see a physician excited about probing the alimentary tract.

it’s cool that you learned about a lung ultrasound in the morning, then have to do the procedure later.

I am actually super excited to follow your practice in Canada! I am an acute care rehab professional in the US currently but transferring up to Canada soon. I am eager to see the similarities and differences between the two systems. I recognize a lot of the basics are the same which is super reassuring. I love your education, as well. I feel like I learn something new each time you post!

I hope you're safe in the Toronto area, I didn't think that kind of thing happened in Canada! On another note; It's great seeing a more confident swagger now that you're a second year.

You are now a second year that is so cool. By the way you are helping me for showing that the Medical field is alot of work but it is exciting. Is being a doctor as fun as you make it sound?
