I need help with standing up for myself. I let people run over me and I am tired of people talking to me like I am child. I also hate how Doctors think that they are Gods Gift to this earth. Could you please give me tips on how to be a strong minded person and to stand up for myself.
Hey there I definitely understand what you mean about some of the doctors mindsets. I recently had a doctor comment to one of our coders and insinuate that they don’t care about billing and how they get paid but he does. It totally undermined her skill and her credential and everything she works for and it was very insulting. My suggestion to standing up for yourself is to always make sure you have your facts and your documentation but most importantly stay confident in your work and do not second-guess yourself. That is the advice that I have for you and that is the advice that I have to give myself on a daily basis.
I subbed not too along ago to your channel. I got a scholarship to start in the fall at the Associates level but baby I got so much feelings and anxiety to start this career. I see that this career is dominated by females I got out of social services because there was so much water cooler gossip females can be so territorial and super disrespectful. My question is how long do you have to wait to be able to work from home ? and how do you cope with the office politics and bs. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated !! Thanks 🥰🥰
Hi I definitely understand what you mean by water cooler gossip and I hate it. I don’t do well with office politics or politics in general as I find that politics lies within family friendships and organizations, and there is always a hidden agenda. One strong piece of advice that was given to me was when it comes to work do not make it about me always tie your work back to the mission vision and values of the organization, and you can never go wrong. Also network and keep your connections strong without compromising your integrity. In regards to working from home I believe it is standard to work on site for three months and as long as your productivity is met you can transition to working from home, however this was pre-Covid. When I started my new position I immediately worked from home. As I watch other people on their journey in the workforce I see that telework begins right away and there is no transition from the office to remote work when the job is already 100% remote.

Girl, listen! I thought I was hearing myself speak when you were talking about letting people talk to you anyhow and say slick ish. I allowed that behavior from others for a very long time but I recently snapped out of that self disrespect. No ma'am. No sir. I also tend to have older friends which made me the 'baby' so I can relate to that as well. Idk maybe it's a 'Candice' thing lol. All in all I think you handled the situation well.
OMG yes! All my friends are older as well and they definitely make snide remarks about the age and call me the baby. But I hit them right back because in reality i have a REALLY slick mouth. Definitely a Candice thing 😄
