Your cat being happy with absolutely nothing you do and wanting constant attention, is the most relatable thing I've ever seen. I have a cat with genuine PTSD, she won't deal with people at all outside of me and my wife. Took her a year to even come to me (Wife hand-fed her every two hours when she was little because we found her being tossed around a highway by passing cars). Long story short, the cat is amazing and she loves us to pieces but holy hell is she high-maintenance at times, lol.

1:26:00 I've watched a video from Dr. K on how to overcome burnout. He said the main reason we feel it is because we engage on a job that we didn't want part in, so you should do things you like to counterbalance exhaustion on the brain. I actually tried to do it. Whenever I was burnt out of my mind, I played some guitar for an hour, not to procrastinate, but because is something I like to do very much. The next day I was problem solving like a mad lad. Hope better days are coming! Also porcupottamus.

I understand the no backseating/spoiler thing completely, but it is worth keeping in mind that illusionary walls were specifically designed with shared player knowledge mechanic in mind. If playing offline, unless you check everything super religiously and waste hours banging every wall, you'll miss stuff like the hidden wall towards the end. Missing a weapon or some less important item is whatever, but this is a whole area that you can miss. But I get the frustration. Reading a player message on the ground feels different than someone in chat directly pointing it out.
@faatihfattahillah4939
@faatihfattahillah4939 Месяц назад
That's literally what Day9 want tho? He is risking missing stuff for tellin people not to spoil for the reward of huge discovery. He intentionally goes offline mode to experience all the game by himself, and most times players messages are a huge spoiler even for me too. On past playthrough he stuck with how to get to Nokron and Mogh palace, and it was a huge discovery for him to finally got there by himself. Missing something and getting a huge discovery personally is a joy for me too, you don't play game to get everything or perfecting it, you just...experience it, that's the whole point.

@@splitsticks The OP wasn't talking about spoilers or backseating. They were talking specifically about the pieces of the game that the developers designed to be pointed out with the messaging system. Disabling messaging and banning any spoilers from chat (which is a good idea on its own) removes this aspect of the game.
@La0bouchere
@La0bouchere Месяц назад
@@faatihfattahillah4939 That's somewhat understandable but Nokron and Mohg palace are easily found solo through exploration. You basically only miss them if you don't explore certain areas of the map. The areas the OP is talking about are not like that and do actually require messaging or looking things up for most players. I don't think it's a problem though, since the super-convoluted-to-get-to area that I'm thinking about is something he'll definitely ask about if he misses it.

I think this is an interesting problem. I totally understand and sympathize with Day9 not wanting spoilers, even if he misses something, as it ruins his sense of discovery, but this seems to pre-suppose that he would *eventually* discover it on his own. But what if he never discovers it? Are you having an overall better or worse experience with the game missing out on a large section of it? I dont know if there is a 'correct' answer here, but there are significant parts of this game that I would bet he never discover without outside input.
@nyxmoonveil
@nyxmoonveil Месяц назад
I think a happy medium could be that right before the point of no return, he asks if there are any areas that he's missed. Then, and only then, should people be giving him such spoilers. That way, he's already explored everywhere he was going to explore before finishing the final boss, which means he would have missed those areas entirely without outside input anyways. It's probably something that I would do, because while spoilers suck, for me missing an entire area of a game I like sucks even more. That said, when you are a streamer and playing a game online for thousands of random people to watch, it's going to be very hard to get an audience that completely respects your rules. I think the only way to make sure you have a 100% non-spoiler experience is to play it by yourself offline.
@92Thom
@92Thom Месяц назад
@@nyxmoonveil Yes I think being a popular streamer and expecting not to be spoiled on anything is just not realistic, it kind of comes with the territory unfortunately. @Heatranoveryou
@Heatranoveryou Месяц назад
@@faatihfattahillah4939 yeah with that mindset it's always gonna suck. You gave spoilers power over you. Taking day9s example, he immediately starts pouting that everything is ruined and even goes as far as saying an entire area is spoiled. He could have instead said ok I would have never found this myself now I have a whole new area to explore. Now granted he's explicitly in a spoiler free stream so he's fully justified in being upset here. For story spoilers typically you will hear about an event that happened but you don't know when, where, or why it happened. That's the far more interesting parts of a major event anyway. Columbo for example spoils the case from the beginning, then you get to watch how columbo catches the bad guy. It flips the script on the detective show. You could do that with all the other detective shows too. Look up who, what, why and then watch to see how the detectives eventually catch them.
@Synthysizer
@Synthysizer Месяц назад
@Heatranoveryou Another example you could use your argument for is if you're hungry and about to eat a delicious meal you've been looking forward to but right before doing so i take a hot dump right on top of it and then tell you that you'll never know if you would have enjoyed eating that delicious food without my hot dump on top or not because you can not experience both. I used poop in this example because that is the quality of your argument.

I both do and do not understand spoiling. I understand that people dont want to get outside information, but I dont understand how exactly that "spoils" anything. Its not like youre actually discovering something new and never seen before. Its a deliberately designed area, placed there by the developers, intended to be found, explored and played, and it has been played by just about everyone who got that far into the game. A real spoiler would be someone telling Columbus that where he would end up is not India but a completely different continent. Telling "your suspicions are correct, there is a hidden passage there" doesnt actually spoil anything. Not justifying it, clearly he didnt want to know so people shouldnt have said it, but seems like overreacting quite a bit. Thousands of people watching him play are literally "spoiling" the entire game. Would we rather no one watch it so that no one gets "spoiled"? Doesnt make sense. Most people dont care since it doesnt detract from their own experience at all, and quite frankly - I dont see how it could. Unless you are obsessively invested in a media and take it far too seriously. To me its like someone saying "This rollercoaster does a 360 at 40mph and then two fast loops".. Awww man, now I know and it wont be fun! Or "Be careful, sir, the soup is hot" Awww, shucks, now you spoiled it for me and I wont find it out myself. Like, really, how does that detract from your own experience?
@JL-random-characters
@JL-random-characters Месяц назад
>Its not like you're actually discovering something new and never seen before You don't understand how being told about the end result of an experience spoils the experience? It's new and never seen before FOR EACH PERSON. When you're told about it then you're no longer experiencing it how the developer/creators intended you to experience it, you're experiencing it with a caveat - you already knew it was happening. If I tell you the ending of a book or a movie I'm not telling you something truly new or never seen before, but now if you choose to read that book or watch that movie you'll know exactly how it ends which spoils any sense of intrigue. Or if I tell you there's a huge twist near the end then you're always waiting and expecting the twist, you don't get to find it on your own and experience the emotion of the twist on your own. It ruins all sense of personal discovery and accomplishment. >Thousands of people watching him play are literally "spoiling" the entire game. They made the choice to watch him play it, he did not choose to have it spoiled for him as he plays it. >Most people dont care since it doesnt detract from their own experience at all, and quite frankly - I dont see how it could He obviously DOES care, and if you don't see how it could then that's your own issue and not something you get to push onto others. Both of your examples are intentionally not equivalent to the experience of consuming media. Bad faith argument. Soup is not intended to be consumed when hot enough to burn you, and rollercoasters are viewed as an entire thing before you agree to ride them.
@rolandlee6898
@rolandlee6898 Месяц назад
@@JL-random-characters No, I really don't. "you're no longer experiencing it how the developer/creators intended you to experience it.." Except that you do. He wasnt told any major story aspects. They literally said "you're right, there is an illusory wall there". Which is something he already suspected but didnt want to waste time on trying to find. More over, the game literally is designed with player notes as part of the game. He chose to disable that, but that is a core feature enabled by default, which is designed by the developer to specifically tell players about locations such as this. Its an in-game tip sharing system, a core system of the game, made by the developers, on purpose. "If I tell you the ending of a book or a movie I'm not telling you something truly new or never seen before, but now if you choose to read that book or watch that movie you'll know exactly how it ends which spoils any sense of intrigue." Except he wasnt told anything of the sort. It would be you saying "the main character finds a hidden passage in a dungeon somewhere in the middle of the story". It doesnt actually tell me anything. And even if you told me major plot elements of a movie/book it wouldnt bother me all that much. I am in for the ride, not the destination. People who obsess over media like that are literally sociopaths with severe mental issues. You are WACTHING A MOVIE! Its not your story. Its literally just a movie. And a game is always a far more personal experience than any book or movie since you are actually actively participating and making your own story rather than just watching someone elses. Its like, I make it to level 40 in Classic WOW and you tell me, "Moten Core is underneath Blackrock Mountain".. Uhm, ok? And? Now I know its there, so? If you want a completely personal sense of discovery and be completely isolated then maybe you shouldnt play with 5,000 people watching. Just a thought. ">Thousands of people watching him play are literally "spoiling" the entire game. They made the choice to watch him play it, he did not choose to have it spoiled for him as he plays it. " As did he! Its what literally pays his bills - engaging with viewers and providing entertainment for them. Again, yes - they shouldnt have told him, but 1) it didnt spoil anything story wise (not like anyone cares about the story anyway), 2) he already thought there is a passage somewhere there, but didnt want to waste time, and neither did his viewers, who pay him, to waste time not progressing, 3) he is overreacting. if you play not just with thousands of people watching but quite literally FOR them.. you expect that people gonna talk. My examples are perfectly valid since neither of them actually spoils anything, and neither does telling someone that there is a passage, which the game, again, will tell you itself by default, via the in-game player note system, which is specifically placed there by the developers for players to share tips and information on how to progress. Likewise the game as a whole is a 100h+ experience, one small note does not change it. As neither does telling someone that there is a 360 loop on a rollercoaster. Now you know, sure, but you still get to experience it yourself all the same.
@JL-random-characters
@JL-random-characters Месяц назад
>Except he wasnt told anything of the sort Sure he was. He was told what the cool secret was for the area. It's a miniature experience within the broader context of the game, where people can either find it or they cannot, and it got spoiled for him because somebody straight up told him. It ruins the sense of achievement finding it for yourself, and it ruins the potential for replayability where he may see a whole area he never found out about in some other context and come back to the game because of it. To lean into the book analogy it's more like me seeing you're on Chapter 5 and then going "hey in Chapter 5 there's X event, enjoy that". Maybe the end of the book wasn't ruined, but your ability to naturally experience chapter 5 was. >if you play not just with thousands of people watching but quite literally FOR them.. you expect that people gonna talk Well this just shows your lack of respect for others. He plays the games for himself and he's actively, like over and over and over, requesting people don't spoil. Doing it anyways just shows how self absorbed some people are. People who provide entertainment like this aren't clowns for you to yell at and do whatever you want to. The game is the sum of all the small experiences you go through as you progress through the story, it is not JUST the story. Again, your lack of understanding does not mean everybody else is wrong. You're just too dense to actually understand the nuance, as you openly admitted. You don't understand how knowing the end result of an experience can ruin the enjoyment of the experience for others, so why even chime in pretending like you do and don't understand the concept of spoilers. You don't.
