Days of our Steelers: Seven's Farewell

For an event like the one that happened on Monday night (January 3, 2022, for those of you watching in the future), you can't keep it contained to Sportsball. In a game that felt eerily like a movie script (both the game and the broadcast), Ben Roethlisberger was able to get as close to a storybook ending in what could be his final home game at Heinz Field.
The game wasn't pretty, but for Steelers fans, it was a chance to say goodbye and thank you. This video is recapping the events (and some blatant propaganda) that unfolded on this magical night.

Although if we’re being real, he could seriously lead this steelers team to a ring with a half decent o-line. The receivers and run game are there. Defense could obviously be better, just need some help to stop the run. So basically both trenches and a half decent qb and the steelers are back in buisness. Now, I do think he's grown up a bit and has gotten better every year, so it's a bit easier to like him. But I still will never fully respect him or who he was anyway. Regardless, what a career. A guy coming from Miami of Ohio with middling hype turned out to be one of the best QB's of his generation. From the day they drafted him, my brother was so excited about him and my brother was always excellent at scouting. He definitely nailed that one as well as the Steelers did and I have some amazing memories tied to Big Ben.

*Ben Roethlisberger there have been MANY TIMES that YOU have shown US as Steelers Fans your HEART but for me it was the game vs the Browns in December 2011 that cemented it for me!!! When I saw the leg injury at the end of the second half where it looked SO BAD almost to the point of a season or career ending injury I was so worried & devastated!!! But when I saw you come back on the field limping ready to play after halftime I cried like a baby & INSTANTLY KNEW that YOU were ONE of the GREATEST NFL & Steelers QB's in HISTORY to EVER put on a Steelers Uniform PERIOD!!! THANK YOU Ben for giving US as Steelers Fans 2 Super Bowl Championships we waited so long to get & some of the GREATEST Years of OUR lives watching & cheering for YOU and the BLACK & GOLD!!! Steelers Nation 4 Life!!! We Bleed Black & Gold!!!*

As a Ravens fan it will be sad to see him retire. I will miss playing him twice a year. Win or lose those games were intense and whoever won those games earned it. To me this felt like when Ray Lewis and Ed Reed played their last home game together in the 2012 Wild Card Game against the Colts. After that game was over and those 2 took a lap around M&T I started crying. It’s the same feeling for Steelers fans. He was the man that brought a 2nd glory age to the Steel City and gave them instant credibility. Big Ben turned that team from a unit that couldn’t win the big one for the 12 years before he got there with Bill Cowher, Neil O’Donnell, and Kordell Stewart into a 2 time Super Bowl Champion in his tenure. Not to mention this is likely the final game with Heinz Field as the naming rights to their stadium which makes this even more emotional. I will be honest, I will be honored to see the Steelers beat us next week at M&T Bank Stadium, and for the Jaguars to beat the Colts so that Pittsburgh can have one more chance to send him out on top. Farewell Ben, thank you for giving us 18 years of a competitive and respected rivalry. I and every Marylander will play Renegade in your honor.

Now this, is the Series Finale that makes the fans feel content. Who knew it would have been like this. Leader of Men, giving a passing of the torch to the next era, walking into the corridors with his family in sight. It's an ending to a career we seen it all. Until the franchise just fucks up again badly and we get the rushed prequel series. Just like TV Executives wanted! MILK THE CASH COW

To be fair if Mason Rudolph can keep tying in each game he plays, he could potentially make the playoffs at 0-0-17.

@@markbaranyk9161 I know. 0-0-17 is mathematically the same record as 8-8-1. But 8-8-1 implies one tie that (usually) only happens once every few seasons. The statistical anomaly that is 17 straight ties is enough for me to WANT that to happen instead, not even accounting for the memes. Imagine if they won their division at 0-0-17...

I saw Roethlisberger in his last year of college. Miami came out to Colorado St and promptly whupped up on CSU. He was literally unstoppable that day. Over the years I've seen the likes of Steve Young (though I was too young to really remember that), Randall Cunningham, David Carr, and several other eventual NFL star QBs come in and beat CSU, but honestly Roethlisberger was the most physically dominating and unstoppable of them all. I admit to being a fan of his in the pros...until the rape stuff. The fact he continued his career and the likes of Jameis Winston can get drafted first overall (and the WFT in general) is why I don't watch NFL games anymore. I'll still watch this channel because the content is hilarious and great, but the NFL doesn't deserve my support.
