I vaguely remember Shay talking about how he wants to leave his own mark, manifest his own sound. "Oh Those drums are surely Dayshell, Those chords are familiar". He's definitely achieving that, without reusing or overusing any particular sound, it's very much "him" (as much as I can say, of course he defines what "his sound" is). But from the form that Dayshell's Heavier riffs and Drum beats take; very symmetrical but a bit unorthodox, feeling very intense, but not aggressive, Flowing, but not ultra similar, does such a wonderful effort, in being catchy and jammy, than just heavy for the sake of it. The drums especially have such a build-up when they need to, and the fills during the verses, keep you provoked and focused on the Heart of the song. The Guitars keep you poised and in-sync within it's rhythm, almost mesmerized, but then Shown the broad scope of things, never drowning out the listener because the Drums are able to keep you attentive. Finally, I've always Loved Shay's unique voice and his bravery to be groovy and play with his vocals and experiment; Elongated word sounds at the end or middle of a word, using pronounced pronunciation where it may sound odd in any other case, and in other cases, quickly fleeting/bark/shouting sounds to create intensity (most often in harsh vocals, i.e "fire -> Fiy-AH"). But here it's more of a merge between clean, genuine melodies and fluid falsettos & chest voice moments. Those incorporated elongated pronunciations feel natural. I especially enjoy how well he follows the instrumental, and at times gets ahead of it and Leads it's shift so naturally (i.e. "I swear i'll raise a glass for you", this line hits it's tonal suift so mu h more noticeably and fluidly because of his voice). I only wish the vocals were a bit Louder behind the instrumental, most just during the chorus, or at least the final few choruses. Needless to say, beautiful work.
This comment was perfect, the only thing is yes the vocals I wish were a bit louder I feel that way about a couple songs. But god damn shayley you are the fucking man, so proud of your work seriously thank you for another great song! Much love brother
@@nicholasdonin1465 you're free to think what you want... but just know this.. until you can do better than him, your opinion has no weight or value to it.
@@nicholasdonin1465 awful is a very strong word. Most my lyrics are personal and apply to me and my life. I don’t write music for other people to understand. Only my close circle will. That’s the beauty of being a artist. There are no boundaries or limits. You’d know all about that though I’m sure. That said, I don’t consider myself a great lyricist. But awful… not even close. Have a great weekend and thanks for checking the new track out! ❤️🙏🏻
The fact that this man isn't at the top of the genre being promoted by the biggest labels in post-hardcore or whatever you want to call it, is criminal.
Man, this is your best fucking song hands down, without diminishing your previous work, which I love. Holy fucking shit! If this one doesn't take you straight to the top then I don't even know.
OM&M who? Lol, I honestly forget about that band a lot. Dayshell is truly something special. I've become such a big Dayshell fan these past few years, that I no longer think "Shayley, OM&M's old vocalist", and I instead think "Shayley, from Dayshell"
@@MyPositionBand I don't know why it took me this long to reply, but I've been slowly getting into your music for the past week or so, and nice to see a reply from you lol
@@drummaboi5879 I was actually a bigger fan of OM&M with Aaron, and didn't think Shayley's voice fit too well. But Shayley with Dayshell is a much better band than OM&M with Aaron. Actually, Dayshell is much better than of mice and men in general. Better songs, better musicianship, better lyrics, and it very much let's Shayley's voice shine
@@jareddoran6605 🙂👊👊 haha no worries. And that's awesome to hear! Thank you for spinning the tunes. 🙌 Shay's helped out a lot on the record so a lot of that goodness comes from the one and only haha.. all the best to you! 👊👊
Holy fuck... the production on this song is fantastic. Everything is so crisp, clear, all while being punchy. I think this is the cleanest song of the year.
My god what a stunningly good song. Why Dayshell is not being played tf out on every rock radio FM/XM/Sirius whatever station nationwide is beyond logical rational.
yup, Shays cleans on OM&M 1st record got me hooked. pissed when he left but perked phuck up when knew he was in works forming his own band. have been sold on DAYSHELL ever since. gan 4ever
We need to all come together and share shayley Bourget as he deserves a much larger following! I love this man as his voice bring Solace to my soul....
The underground king! Shay is really the greatest of all time and only the elite listen to him 😉 never stop man!! Your music reminds me of early queensryche were every song is powerful and meaningful and will stay fresh forever
phhuuuck me 2, killn me on the wait thou. this track been on repeat since i hit play 20min ago. new record gonna be a mind blower after Mr.Pain. def delivered again on that album
@@drummaboi5879 YESSS oh my god I seriously am so sad we don't get the album until later next year 😭😭 I've been wanting to cry haha. After listening to this I KNOW it's gonna be just as good possibly EVEN BETTER than mr.pain. I'm hyped!
Shayley was not wrong when he said Dayshell fans wouldn't be disappointed with this track in the least... it truly is a prefect blend of everything Dayshell has to offer. Ill be rocking this shit and sharing it for months to come and I can not WAIT for more. Keep up the excellent work Shay. Fucking BANGER
I love how creatively you talk about your issues. Just know the path isn’t straight. It’s a rollercoaster. You got this shay. I just started my sober journey after years of drowning my issues in substance and alcohol. Your music helps me and so many others.
Those vocals tho!! That range is crazy!! And the Fry 😘👌. The heavier drums on this track are a blessing!! It is definitely a very well orchestrated, and mixed track! 10/10!!
Shay, I love how you incorporated your love for the epic/dramatic game style in the beginning. When I listened to this the first time and the solo came soaring through my car speakers I remember audibly gasping and saying "Yes." haha...congratulations on the new song, I can't wait to see what's next!
was upset after he left OM&M & immediately dropped em from my library. 1st album was WoW..2nd was Okay ..then heard bout Shay forming his band & got excited AF & have not been disappointed. he made the best move ever chasing his own vision
@@maggotsxcl7403 ok Gregory. This sounds like a song that could be on an om&m album, not as heavy obviously but similar sounding anyways. Thanks for your input tho Gregory.
IMO, this is the best track Dayshell since 'The Weapon'. Truly, one of the most beautiful voices in rock music. PS-the fact you wrote and produced this song on your own without any backing from a label or anything is incredible. The production is fantastic considering your circumstances. Thank you Shayley for continuing to make music.
Okay Shayley, you kill it every time. So glad I was able to meet such a talented person years ago. I hope touring is happening so I can see Dayshell live again 🖤
Love the song Shayley and the deep meaning behind the lyrics, when you're in a relationship & suddenly you find you're with a complete stranger without warning they just up and change on you there's nothing much more frustrating or painful in my opinion.
Thank you for your music. I often listen to it when I am sad and have joint pain but it often distracts me and helps me feel better before I feel worse. Spotify said I listened more than 2343 minutes to Dayshell. Maybe im addicted :P
