Interacting with objects will refresh the despawn timer. Or you can make a flag pole and every time you raise the flag it refreshes every object's timer nearby. Here is a video on how to make a flagpole. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yUczrZ0XRzA.html
@@Nitno Gotcha, is there a way to know the despawn timer? It has been years since ive played so Im trying to jump back in and am strugggggling lol. Forgot the food finding hell haha
Killer video! Very informative and I agree that you have a super chill vibe. I didn't realize you can access the supermarket roof! Being knowledgeable of unique features and locations are a serious advantage in this game. Thanks for schooling us! Keep up the great work!
I wish I could make something like that! I still think that a huge group of players is necessary to build something like that (or even interchange time/schedule to watch for it), specially on vanilla servers. I already had bases, but now I bury my stuff or hide in barracks in the woods with camonet. Solo/duo/three friends playing is quite hard to build that.... Once again another great video, thanks for the content, Nitno!
I have to disagree, respectfully. I’ve built a number of solo bases on vanilla Xbox servers, some get raided and some don’t. The main factor is location to available building materials. If you have 150 possible nail /tool spawns within a 15 min run then you can build a base like this. Also, stockpile ALL your nails, wire, and tools etc BEFORE attempting the build.
@@Nitno the gate is up at the cabin, the lock is set, a tent inside...what about flagpoles specifically? Benefits, drawbacks...I'd love your breakdown. Edit: deep diving your base building series, thanks again!
To be honest, you are probably best on a medium pop "Community" server. The trouble if official is that people can server hop a lot easier to loot up. Community is just 1 server so you can't really hop around as easy.
That’s badass, great video. I think another good video might be a tutorial on the most efficient techniques for gathering materials for base building. Particularly breaking down how to speed up process, life of the tools, sharpening stones, etc. iv only built one base and it took me forever and I found a bag with ton of sharpening stones. I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something
I love base building, I hope DayZ/BI finally adds those missing base building kits/pieces that were leaked awhile back as well as adds a combo roof/floor kit. Now, when building vanilla, and I'm on PC and haven't built in a building in awhile since we've been using BBP on our servers for forever, but I typically like building in buildings with vanilla, main 2 places are the big Novi city's(NE) clocktower, lots of gates, tons of room, nobody is spending the time and resources getting to the top where my gear is. Me and 2 buddies once took over the entire center city square surrounding it with fencing and strategic watchtowers every so often, then towers at all 4 corners of the actual clocktower along with the rest of the internal base, but usually just try to keep it discreet if solo, gates inside and storage at the top. 2nd is Nova Petrovka, again north of NWAF, small industrial at the E side of town, large building with 1 entrance, windows circling the top, back rooms, 1 on 2nd floor that's caged in, plenty of gates can be placed, great defense, storage at the top, I even build what I call "blinds" for all the windows, which is hard and time consuming, but it's just a fence base(2 poles) and a camo net, if you're good, you can get them covering all windows and blocking out light from inside at night.
@@Nitno our favorite was on winter Chernarus, back before they put the tunnel up at the biathlon area, it used to be a deep valley there with broken wood bridges, me and a buddy built a massive BBP base spanning the valley, 5 floors, 5x5 footprint, 3 bridge access to a car port on 3 levels, wraparound balcony...we had the wolves and bears turned way up too, packs of 4 bears, packs of 20+ wolves, we'd open the garage doors and it would literally turn into a shooting gallery, they'd run right up the broken bridges that lead into each car port. Was a sick base, until we started loading it up with stuff, then it became unplayable due to the lag lol...base alone was fine, add a couple guns, 15fps choppy. Rust is way way better handling bases and stuff inside.
Or just use a truck to get on top of the building. Still it's a nice flat roof Id try to build out to the edges as much as I could. Also barbed wire is always a good idea, as is trip wires and landmines. No sure if you can build a flagpole on this roof???
Yeah if the outer wall was at the edge of the roof would be better. Of course a lot of things change when you think about the m79 and explosive 40mm nades you could pretty much take out most of the gates from the street level then climb up
Hello, no it does not. The flag pole's function is currently to refresh the de-spawn timers on all objects nearby. That way you don't need to touch each item nearby manually to keep them from despawning.
If you are on PC and your server does not have base building plus, or simple roofs, you cannot make a roof. If you are looking for Base Building Plus tips, check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7LaN8bTJs1M.html
i mean on a pve server sure but on any other, good luck being left alone long enough in berezino or really any town long enough to bring all of those materials up to the roof uncontested xD
@@Nitno I’m part of the No 1 crew on DayZ Xbox, we defend GM for months at a time and the biggest problem is swimmers (cheaters). They find an incline on the map, lie down and get a friend to knock them under the map, then they “swim” (because it’s water under the map) to a base, and relog. The respawn pops them onto the same map coordinates but ON the map instead of under. It’s the dirtiest way to base raid, and renders outside fortifications useless. The only way to counter it is to have a base thats high off the ground and (I think) has spawn space underneath it - like this supermarket. Although a supermarket would be too small for our HQ, they might work great as FOBs along coastal cities, I’ll let you know how it works out. Thanks for the video, it’s now the second one I’ve watched that had good info, so I’ve subscribed 👍 Cheers for the content!
@@eoinc9511 You are welcome! Hmm I have another option I haven't published yet that might also avoid that swimmer issue. I'll be posting it asap. Thanks for explaining that! how lame some cheats can be huh, sheesh.
@@Nitno yeah it defeats the entire purpose of base defence. You spend so many hours making your dream base and then decide to cook some food or go afk and POP someone appears behind you and kills you and takes everything lol There’s still no word from the developers about fixing it, I think it’s a major issue for them to tackle 😞
Our latest base is Devil's Castle. Yes, three of us walled all the gaps and the easy accesses in three to four days. We gated the front entrance and the middle gatehouse. I even made a ten story watchtower to get on the north tower just for fun. That took me four to five days even with a 48 hour roll back which took back three levels. The secret is an 80 or 90 space backpack which can be carried by hand. Yes, building is challenging but very satisfying!
This must have taken ages to do. I've only managed to build one wall. Was planning on making a gate inside of a hunting lodge but realized I need frickin pliers.
It does take a while for sure. The more you play it does speed up quite a bit as it becomes second nature. Still something like this video would be helpful to have a friend with you to lend a hand.
How long is it before the servers reset, because I played on this for a while, managed to get guns and food and stopped, then came back on and everything was gone, so things like this would be a great advantage
what you said about being on the coast is not true Weather your geared or not you will still get raided. Making bases is a bad idea until they fix the game
Getting raided is all part of it, just have to understand it happens going into it. Sounds like in 1.15 both pc and console will have servers with base damage turned off though if people are concerned with losing their base.
@@Nitno it's not part of the game spending hours getting loot and somebody comes and takes it all mate. You need to see if from the players point of view
@@rythemgangstar I get your point of view. I think I just have a different one. I think it's normal in this game to lose it all and start again from scratch. I do understand not everyone wants it to be like that.
Great video! Just out of curiosity, do you know of any other locations that can oy be accessed by building a watchtower? I am playing on a community server that allows to build everywhere.
