Hard to believe it's been more than 20 years ago since I first saw this episode. Honestly, I believed Trunks' transformation here would be the end of Cell. Shame this Ascended SSJ form drained his speed that was needed for the fight.

@@beonowak6414actually in terms of power even unrestrained Trunks could have potentially handled Cell, the problem literally was all that speed. Even unrestrained, Vegeta still could have messed up Cell if he became Ultra and used Final Flash. Together an Ultra Family Final Flash would have incinerated Cell right there. They just didn’t think to do it(or Trunks didn’t know how but he could have used another attack)
@@kingrobotnik6950 Personally I disagree for a few reasons. 1.) Cell was holding back against trunks, and was effectively toying with him. It is even referenced elsewhere that Ultra SSJ is a useless form, and it is mentioned that Vegeta certainly knew of the form, but didn't use it due to its uselessness (a bit stronger, but much slower with large drain). 2.) Gohan in SSJ (When fighting Cell) was inarguably the strongest fighter there. This is stated many times. He is stronger than Goku, and far stronger than the rest (including Vegeta and Trunks). Given this, he was still being tossed about by Cell. Further proof of Cell holding back massively against Trunks. 3.) SSJ2 is not only implied to be, but shown repeatedly to increase power drastically from SSJ1, but instead of losing speed, gains it. We don't know much about the drain of SSJ2, but it was implied many times that Ultra SSJ was an incomplete/defective transformation, which had particularly high drain for useless yield. Perhaps more drain than SSJ2? I'd say likely, due to the incomplete nature of the form. 4.) Trunks stops using this form because he realized how useless it was. In fact, this is something that is shown. He is devastated by the revelation that the 'secret power' he though he'd achieved was actually a waste of time, which Goku (and supposedly Vegeta) knew to skip past. It was a humiliating experience for him to discover that he'd fallen for what is essentially the DBZ equivalent of a 'noob trap'. 5.) We know nothing about the mechanisms of charging in this form either really, but it seems unlikely that Vegeta could've gone Ultra SSJ and done the final flash. Final Flash was already Vegeta pushing his forms and power to the absolute breaking point. Either he couldn't gather the energy properly, or it had too much drain, or some other factor, but Vegeta clearly believed it was more effective to charge Final Flash in his Super Form (Which yielded substantial results relative to his strength). 6.) Trunks doesn't know how to use Final Flash. Also it's unlikely that Cell would've allowed both of them to charge an attack against him, as even he wasn't certain of his power at that point. Furthermore, fusion attacks weren't really a thing at this point, and don't necessarily make a move much stronger, like fusion does to a fighter.
the concept of the transformation was pretty shit considering it’s cons but for trunks it has the best design that rippedass muscles with by far the best hair
Actually no he wouldn’t Broly was nowhere near as fast as cell because he too was massive I honestly don’t know why trunks didn’t use this form against him
@@keytendegraef982 Absolutely incorrect. Broly’s legendary super saipan transformation didn’t nerf his speed, it only increased it. The legendary transformation is drastically different than ascended super saiyan.
@@SlyGuyMorad but in turns of strength Broly is weaker than perfect cell and also in terms of power as well and then the reason why i think this is, is because that Future trunks could at least rival perfect cell in the fight while Broly was beaten buy an z-fighter absorbing ssj goku form, so future trunks could beat Broly in this form.
On top of the speed disadvantage that came with SSJ Grade 3, Broly’s production was running concurrently with the manga during the Cell saga, which was getting weekly updates. That’s the main reason a lot of the z movies don’t fit in. The production was so rushed that there was no time to consult Toriyama then revise them to fit into the greater story.
Your wrong cell could do that as well but he knew the limitations of it. Remember when he started losing against gohan he tried to pull off the same thing

Always thought this form was underrated, wish Trunks got to perfect this form. The music of these scenes have been ingrained in my mind, anytime I prepare for something serious, I remember this from when I would watch after school on Tonami when I was a kid, I’m not 32 y/o now. I think every young man should have to watch the whole series and we would be in a better place
There isn't much to perfect. It's Super Saiyan 1, with more energy pumped into it, which makes them bulky and slow. The only way to improve the form is to increase power without losing speed.. so Super Saiyan 2.
That is not Gohan at Ssj 2. The Broly movie takes place after they come out of the time chamber, but before the Cell games (hence Goku being alive). The movies are not cannon to the series, so they have discrepencies in the story. The first time you actually see Gohan transform to Ssj2 in a film is when he fights Bojack.
Disregard that dumb shit. Super saiyan rage wasn’t in the manga. While the form is obviously far weaker than the anime-version, I prefer mastered SSJ2 being trunks’ power up. It was a really cool concept, unlike super saiyan rage which was dumb as shit and just an asspull.
Broly surely exploded Bulma's Bed and her Butt in the Process...i think the Legendary Super Saiyan Form had too much Power for Bulma and now Trunks is here honoring his Real Father Broly .

Everyone remember, this is the form Brody took in the movies. The idea is, this transformation has giant power but lacks the finesse to make it useful against enemies faster than you. Broly has a mutation that allows him to use this form beyond its restraints. LSSJ is essentially the perfect SSJ1 form maxed out past its limitations. Broly never achieved SSJ2 or 3. He just has perfect SSJ1 and that’s due to his mutation
I remember playing dragon ball z fighter game on the PlayStation 2. My best friend hated seeing this version of trunks and vegeta ss4. He went many years without beating me on that game lol.

Makes you wonder, if Vegeta and Trunks did this and fired off their ultimate attack full power and Krillin used a destructo disk barrage with 16 using whatever he has remaining to blast Cell, they might have nailed him. Cell already opened the door for them to blast him in the beginning, they just needed teamwork to close it
I think if trunks had fought cell without his pupils then he wouldn't control his energy and his ki would keep rising and hus speed increasing but krillin got trunks attention that's why he got his pupils back
@@genblinko7801 as we know in goku black arc trunks fought without pupils when he got angry only when he needed to save goku and then he got em back but i think trunks ki would keep increasing without pupils because he couldn't control his energy
